They have the right to refuse service to anyone, I get it, but prejudice and "you're not one of us" vibes shouldn't be a factor.

    Bought a Hatsan Bullboss .22 off the shelf. No box (mags, fill probe, bleed valve), so they sold…read moreit to me for a decent price. Ordered magazines and a fill probe and finally got out to shoot and the rifle is bad. Very bad... 4" groups at 10 yards (initial sight in) with several weights/types of pellets. Further inspection revealed that the barrel is bent. Not a lot, but just enough to cause the POI to be off by tumbling pellets. Probably dropped by some kid in the store playing around with the gun that was left out on a shelf instead of behind the counter. They claimed the gun was new, but the grub screws are worn, stock screws are nicked (someone was in there), o-rings were missing in the QE components, and the QE baffle wrap looked like it had had at least a couple of tins through it. Called John's to see what they could do about it and they refused to do anything except contact Hatsan (basically a big fat FU). Even asked if they would just give me store credit so I could get something I'm actually happy with and won't have to dump more than the gun is worth into getting what it should have been had it actually been new. It would have been a simple matter to take the gun back and RMA (if it were actually new through HatsanUSA), but instead they put it on me saying they were going "above and beyond" by even offering to attempt to contact them. Simple fact of the matter is that the gun was not new and the reason it sat on their shelf (being an extremely popular PCP air rifle) for so long was because they were originally asking $100 more than the MSRP. I won't be shopping at John's any more and neither will anyone else I can deter from spending money there. The couple hour drive to Bass Pro or Scheels in Overland Park is well worth it to get decent customer service.
