My review is about two weeks late, since I'm back in the States! I didn't want to give them a shout…read moreout, because I lived right around the corner from Exenberger while back in Frankfurt. First of all, the staff here is lovely. Given that some of the other traditional German places where we had dinner in the last few days had the rudest staff ever, this was a breath of fresh air. I am not a tourist here, I used to live in Frankfurt and am back to visit family. Things have definitely changed a bit since I was here last time. But let me get to the point. We had Leberknödel and Kartoffelpuffer. Both meals were super yummy, and pretty big portions. I was starving since we had just gotten off of a long flight that day, but normally this would have almost been too much for me and I would've done the American doggy bag thing at home. Outside seating with ample, I would call and make a reservation if you were going after 6 PM for dinner. We walked here, but if you are driving get ready to search for parking. Parking in Sachsenhausen is terrible, I would suggest taking public transportation or walk. We were so hungry we forgot to take pictures, but if I find one I will add.

The interior decor is absolutely lovely, food portion is average for the price. Staff was friendly. You will be sharing tables if you are just a group of two or three people, but it seemed like it's mostly locals that visit this place, so it was not too loud and actually quite pleasant. Just make sure to go to the counter to order and pay for your food though, we didn't know this and waited quite long for someone to take our order.

I couldn't resist trying the iconic "Grüne Soße" (green sauce) served with eggs and potatoes. This is a local Frankfurt specialty made from a blend of seven fresh herbs, creamy, and the perfect accompaniment to the simplicity of boiled eggs and potatoes. The apple wine, or "Apfelwein," was another experience altogether. Unlike the sweet ciders I'm used to, this one was delightfully sour--something I wasn't quite prepared for, but it definitely grew on me. Lorsbacher Thal offers an authentic, no-frills experience that's all about enjoying the flavors of Frankfurt in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. If you're in the city, check this spot out.

We had a 4 course dinner that was phenomenal. From steak tartar to halibut, sordfish, duck and dessert. The servers were attentive but not overbearing. Great place for a special dinner. Not good for big groups or children. Dress is smart casual. Ask to see the wine cellar.

This review is for the bar inside the hotel and not the restaurant. The bar inside the hotel, due…read moreto restrictions, has limited seating. Only 30 people can sit at the tables but no one can sit at the bar. I've come here before and they always had a fantastic piano player and it was a fun environment. Now, it is just boring. The two stars is for the service, which is attentive. Zero stars for the cost of the drinks. The cost of the drinks was undisclosed to our group until the bill arrived. €22 for a small stoli martini, which is equivalent to about US$25, is outrageous. Take a look at some of the other charges. I have included the receipt so you will know what you will be in for.... €14for a simple small Manhattan? It was mostly vermouth. €11 for a small shot glass of Sambuca? One scotch, which was approximately 1 ounce, if that, in a glass filled with stones, was €18! My friends were remarking how the stones seemed to absorb all of the scotch! Really! The bill came to €83 and when we looked at the transfer to American dollars on the charge card, it's just about $100. I could've eaten a good dinner at the restaurant for that price. The drinks for really small servings. It's not like you are getting sizeable drinls. The issue I have with this place is they do not tell you what the cost of the drinks are in advance. and there was no drink menus provided on seating. They just ask what you want to order with no menu in sight. This is not a large city in America, such as New York, but they are charging equivalent prices. If you go, you definitely want to ask what you will be charged in advance . After being charged US$100 for just a few drinks and a couple coffees, we felt cheated. There was nothing special about the drinks or the environment. We won't be back.

Bembelsche, it was at walking distance from my Airbnb and i ate here 3 nights. Being an authentic German restaurant. It offers actual traditional german dishes. Obviously, Schnitzels are on the menu. My first try was the Frankfurter Schnitzel. It was good. This restaurant doesn't do small portion. For all the 3 night, i either have to take the dish home or walk away in a full belly. Now the waiting staffs, only the waiter speak limited English but they are all very friendly and ready to serve. I left my Schaufelchen half finished. The waitress checked on me looking concerned. I just told her that it was too much. Seriously, i never had a restaurant serving me a WHOLE PORK SHOULDER. Lastly, the restaurant has a great beverage menu. They are German. It is Bier and they are all great!
