Very insulting to be treated at lunch break by a security guard :by the name of Steve at the lobby of Black Rock 52nd street. I was visiting the Black Rock building at 52nd and Park to see my brother. In one hand I was holding a school bag size red bag (very light) and on my left hand I was calling my brother to come down to greet me. Right there, 15 steps away, Steve was shouting at me, "Are you making a delivery?" I answered, No I am not. Steve repeats himself, are you making a delivery? I again said no. Then he repeats himself the third time, "Are you making a delivery?" I responded, No, I am not making a delivery. I am waiting for my brother. He said to me, "Get out of here! You are making a delivery." No I am not, I said. Steve said, "If you are making a delivery, you need to take the messenger elevator." I repeated myself, I am not making a delivery. I am waiting for my brother. Just because I have a red bag on my hand and trying to make a mobile call doesn't mean I am making a delivery. Is Steven deaf? Is Steve racist? Definitely, he was harassing me. No sooner than I turn my head to the right to see my brother who works upstairs, were 5 security guards surrounding me with Steve shouting over his lung and demand I "get my ass out of there". The 5 security approached me closer, too much to my comfort. I asked them to stay a distance. They didn't. Steve continues to harass me. Then my brother is there with his building badge. Steve recognizes my brother. He said my brother is good. Even having seen my brother, this Steve did not apologize to me. Steve knew my brother works in the building. Steve's boss was there among the 5 security guards. Steve's boss, the head of security did not relieve the situation nor keep Steve back. They were stepping too close to me and were making me uncomfortable. Weren't Steve's boss suppose to analyze to assess the situation and calm the heated discussion down? Weren't Steve's boss the head of security able to see that my brother is there and that my brother works in the building. Yet none of the security guards care to hear what I was saying. But to stand there in Steve's offense. The other 4 security guards including Steve's boss did nothing to see my concern or care. I repeated myself in answer to Steve's demand. The way I see, these security guards are a bunch of bullies. They act as if they own the building and choose whom they want can access the space. Just because a Chinese man has a Swiss cross baseball cap on his head, a mobile phone on his left hand, and holding a red bag on his right, doesn't justify to label me as a Chinese delivery man. Did I not make myself clear in plain Engilsh in answer to his question? Did he refuse to hear my answer or simply he is deaf? Did the gang of 5 harasses me and threaten to call the police because of my presence there? I was dress appropriately in a casual business attire. I am not the homeless. I am not the Chinese delivery man. I simply think Steve and his gang are racist bullies. Knowing that my brother came down from upstairs with his building badge and defended that I am his brother, Steve did not listen, Steve did not apologize. His boss did not apologize. Steve did not admit to his mistake, but to forcefully said he will call the police. Steve's hand action was to grab me by my neck or my neck shirt and to shove me out. I believe I am owed an apology from Steve and his boss. This is a professional environment where Black Rock, Morgan Stanley resides. I myself was with Morgan Stanley at another office space. I am Director of IT at a few buidlings away. To be insulted like that destroys a person's day. Now it seems like the BlackRock Park Avenue Plaza is a White Supremacies space. 55 E 52nd St, New York, NY 10055 is hosting BlackRock, General Atlantic, Morgan STanley Financial Advisors. Duff & Phelps, A Kroll Business, McKinsey Company, Swiss Re, and Evercore.
Usage and tenants
In 2011, Chinese real estate magnate Zhang Xin acquired a $600 million stake in Park Avenue Plaza.[5] As of 2015, Zhang Xin's SOHO China owned a 49% stake in the building, with the balance being owned by Fisher Brothers.[6]
The atrium is "heavily used by an unusually wide spectrum of New Yorkers".[3] The building also contains a retail shopping arcade that is "not legally part of the public space" which the building is required to maintain, but which is still open to the public.[3] The largest tenants in the building have included investment management corporation BlackRock, consulting firm McKinsey & Company, and insurance firm Swiss Re.[6] In 2018, two of the largest tenants moved out of the building, but another large tenant, investment bank Evercore, entered into an agreement read more
