First time to black walnut and I liked it. We went here for Sunday brunch and they were pretty busy but the line was moving pretty fast. Had the steak and eggs, steak was OK, potatoes not so much. First visit to BWC. I ordered one beer battered fried mahi mahi and a grilled Mahi-Mahi taco. The fish was cooked until it was dry and rubbery. The corn tortillas had fallen all apart on my plate before I received it. I definitely do not recommend this dish to anyone. However I did arrive and see breakfast being served and their breakfast does look good and now that I think about it I should have ordered breakfast. I will not be returning because I know that whoever fixed my plate knew that this food should be not served to a customer. read more

During lunch, the line is out the door, there's no place to sit and the food is good but not that wonderful to be in line and look around for seating. I suggest going after lunch hours. today was my first time coming in here. A lot of my friends have recommended this place so today i decided to try it out. My friend and i came in and as soon as we entered were greeted right away by the two cashiers. Amber and Oli explained to us how everything was set up. I went with Oli and my friend went with Amber. They both were Very helpful, oli recommended the cobb salad said it was her favorite salad on the menu. She said to come back and letb her know how i liked it she also recommended the hummingbird cake. She explained were the drinks were and where i was going to get my food, she also said to go up to the coffee bae area to get my dessert when i was ready. As my friend ordered her food i stayed and listen to what Amber had to recommend, she offered the Chicken bailey said it was one of her favorites also. They both were really great and really helped us with it being our first time. When we were ready for our dessert i went up to the coffee bar and a gentleman named Kyle was there, said if i needed help with anything and i told him i was ready for my hummingbird cake. I was not that impressed by this place. The food was tasty, I'll give them that. But the seating method is barbaric. What happens is, you seat yourself on a first come, first serve basis. But you have to wait in line to place your order. The line gets very long, out the door, at peak times. If you come with friends, great! They can go steal a table as soon as you walk in. But if you're by yourself or not willing to be rude, you have to worry the whole 45 minutes you wait in line that you'll have no place to sit. After a busy holiday weekend, we ordered food to go from Black Walnut Cafe. All of our food was fresh and delicious. This was our first experience with this restaurant and we were very pleased. We had a Cobb salad and chicken fried Angus steak with garlic potatoes and yummy garlic bread. A great meal all around. We will definitely be back to try some other menu items. read more

I'm a little shocked at the 1 and 2 star reviews because I think this place is amazing! I've tried breakfast, lunch and dinner here and everything I've gotten has been delicious. The staff is super friendly and helpful if you have questions about different flavors or ingredients. The ambiance of BW is what makes it 5 stars instead of 4. One of my favorite spots. Service is always efficient. Always a visible manager present and active on the floor. My favorite meal used to be the Grilled cheese and simple tomato soup. They no longer have the simple tomato soup so I do not frequent BWC that much any longer. I am a huge coconut fan and the coconut cheesecake and cream pie are amazing. I have yet to have a meal there that wasn't delicious. A few tweaks could be used for example, i think the ladies bathroom could use more regular attention and redecorating. Always feels very cold and clinical and a couple of times has been out of something..(soap, toilet paper, or paper towels). Also, had to send my soup back a few times because servers weren't "stirring the pot" properly leaving me with red water in a bowl. But these issues were resolved after they got use to my order. If you are going try to get in there before 11 on the weekends to beat the long lines to order. But again... they are very efficient so the wait shouldn't be too bad anyways. read more

Excellent food, excellent service always, we go here regularly. The food is so amazing. Only issue with BWS salad is the portion size was a little small for the price, the salad portion could have been larger. Superior flavor however, and the dressing was awesome. Have ordered steak before and the manager ask me if it was cooked to my liking. Trust me, you will become addicted to this restaurant. I have been a customer for years and I always get the Santa Fe Salad and it is always great. However last night I had the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. I think I will go back to my salad. The chicken must have been frozen and not fresh. It was thin and dry. The FRESH vegetables looked like they were cooked 4 days ago. Dark, horrible taste and soggy.
