I cannot say enough good things about these movers. I live in Atlanta and have moved many times but my mom(who not moved that many times) was downsizing her very large home in Memphis. I found Black Tie on a Google search and had never heard of them before. After reading the reviews and initially talking with a company representative, I requested a quote from them and was used to getting one over the phone. The representative said a quote would be more accurate if they visited the home. Needless to say, my mother was not thrilled about a stranger coming to here home without us deciding to use them or not. FYI - My mother is a very suspicious person so this part took some convincing especially since I would not be able to come help. Anyway, after the visit, my mother called and said the company representative, Corey, was very nice and professional. So, we booked them to initially booked them to put her things in several very large, portable storage units. Unfortunately, the units are not delivered in a timely manner and I had to find several nearby storage lockers at the last minute. Called the company, with just two days notice before the move, and asked if they can move everything in the storage lockers and change the date. After a couple of phone calls, they said they could do it. My mom could not stop talking about how quickly and professionally the movers were. It was a very big move, with a lot of things going wrong, but I believe it was made much less stressful because of this moving company. Thank you so much Corey and Black Tie Movers!!!! P.S. First, let me preface this by saying that I have moved many times in my life...MANY TIMES....and that it has always been a very stressful experience. From the time I place the first call to the moving company for quotes until the night before moving day when sleep eludes me due to anxiety and tension headaches keeping me up half the night. My last move (cross-country from the Boston area) was an absolute nightmare! The creeps that the company sent over came a day earlier than what we agreed on, and charged me extra than what was originally quoted, delivered some of my goods damaged, and even damaged the property I was moving into! Let's just say that I had a very low opinion of movers after that fiasco... Lemme tell ya, all that changed yesterday morning.... My movers (Steven and Matt) were AMAZING!! They were on time, were courteous, professional, helpful, and quick! They gave me an initial window of two hours but finished earlier. In what alternate universe does that happen?? I could say a WHOLE LOT MORE about Black Tie Moving, but you'd be reading all day. If you've made it this far, and you're still wondering if you want to have them move you...stop wondering and PICK UP THE PHONE! You will be pleasantly surprised.... I know I was. We used Black Tie Moving for an inhouse move on July 6, 2018. We were renovating our second floor and everything had to come down. The biggest items were two Hooker Computer Armoires that had the approximate weight of a glass china hutch each. An unnamed company moved it down and it was not a happy event so I called Black Tie to to move us back. I informed the company of the of the heavy objects and requested three strong men. They arrived on time and were extremely conversational. Mitchell was the lead and I informed them of the heavy pieces and the stairs they had to navigate. They went quickly to work and when the time came to move the big pieces, they didn't just muscle them up, they evaluated and examined and planned. Then they executed. No complaining no whining, They were very aware of the fresh paint and accomplished the move actually ahead of schedule. Did they scratch the free paint - just a tad. But that was all. I was extremely well please with this group of men and will use them again whenever I need movers. They were outstanding. You will not be disappointed. read more

A team of three amazing movers!!! Thanks again , Andrew, Shawn & Stephen. They arrived on time, and brought with them more than a truck. They brought professionalism, respect, great attitudes, sense of humors, and patience. Moving can be very stressful, but not with these three around. We knew on the front end what to expect, because they went over every thing they would be doing ahead of time. They took extra care protecting and moving the furniture. There were a lot of extremely heavy pieces to move, not to mention awkward sizes, but these three worked together as a team and moved mountains. There sense of humor was amazing! We laughed all day, taking the pressure off. It was another way they assured us we didn't have to worry. I felt very at ease with these three. I knew they could be trusted and I felt very safe with them around. We hated to see them leave at the end of the day. They felt like family. I am blown away. I have moved many times, in many states, and I have NEVER EVER EVER had such a great experience. My move was within the same city. My movers, Stephen and Neil, were polite, friendly, conscientious, professional etc. They were extremely careful with my belongings. But most importantly, they HUSTLED. They were EFFICIENT...both in time and task. I have never used the words "hustle" and "efficient" to describe a hired team of movers. Using Black Tie Movers was pretty much a completely flawless experience and I cannot say enough good things about it. They have totally raised the bar on what is to be expected from movers. Wow! I never thought I would be praising a group of movers. In the past, with other companies, I had a multitude of complaints. Movers do provide a very valuable service, but what I have experienced in the past made me think twice about using such a service again. With Black Tie Moving, I am very happy to have chosen them. Lawyer and Jamie were great in every way. They showed up on time, got to work, didn't waste time, and were as nice and courteous as they could be through the process. I know it is not an easy job, and on top of that it's not easy to remain in good spirits, but they were the entire time. I would definitely use Black Tie Moving again and would recommend them as the company to use. There is no need to consider anybody else. Also, I would ask for Lawyer and Jamie. As for their price, they are just a bit higher than some of the others, but it is worth it. You get what you pay for. Spend the few dollars more and consider it a worthwhile investment. I am not a fan of moving and I had to relocate twice in the last few months. My first move was done with a well known, professional, nationwide team, selected by my new company. They were rude, broke a treasured item and had horrible customer service. I decided against them for my second move within Memphis. I looked at Yelp reviews, selected Black-Tie Moving and held my breath. I exhaled the minute I opened the door and Tyler & his team told me their plan for the day. They were prompt, courteous, friendly and I must admit the red carpet was a treat. I had to go back-and-forth between both locations as I was getting deliveries at my new home. Tyler and team handled the packing and unpacking without issue. They actually made the move fun. The follow up they provided was appreciated! I used Black Tie Moving in 2017 and they did an amazing job, so this move I wanted to use them again....BAD idea. Noah was the sales rep. He was nice and helpful until today when I was questioning the charges on my card. The "Holding fee" was supposed to be applied to the move, it wasn't! The movers were not professional and kept having personal conversations that weren't appropriate for the situation. They were casual and not in any motivation to get the job completed in any amount of time, even mentioned a couple times that they got paid by the hour not the job, so that's why they make the "good money they do" Our move should have taken 1.5 TOPS (I understand the minimum time charged is 2 hours) but took 2.5 and was well over $600! 2017 experience was Fantastic, friendly, quick and I was so pleased. 2025 experience, I learned not to use Black Tie Moving again! read more

We used Black Tie Moving for moving my mom from Jackson, TN to Collierville, TN last weekend. While it was pouring down rain, the crew (Steven, Jack and Zach) did an exceptional job moving us from point A to point B. They were prompt, respectful, made sure everything was as we expected. They definitely under promised and over delivered. I have used different moving companies in the past and while they were good, Black Tie was superior in every way from start to finish. They continued to move furniture around for us in each room until it was like my mom wanted. They truly went over and above to make the stressful experience of moving a seamless transition. This is my second time using movers to help me move into a new place, this time from an apartment to a house off West End. I stumbled across black tie through one of my friends who had used them in Texas and had a good experience, so why not? I didn't know how movers should have worked until these guys helped me. Previously, my first movers took alllllllll day to move into my apartment (some no-namers off craigslist whom I thought would be the cheapest option), Black Tie on the other hand, took just a couple hours. Not only were they quicker, but they were way more friendly and didn't damage anything (the previous guys broke a vase, no biggie, but still). I was very skeptical about using a moving company. You hear all the time about how they ruin your stuff and take extra time so they can charge you more and/or are very rude! Well my wife and I just didn't feel like moving our furniture this time (we move every year for work). So we decided to try Black Tie Moving company. I am speechless. I was just amazed at how professional and kind they were. They were unbelievably fast! They got what would have taken me and my wife 6-8 hrs done in less than 2 without scratching a thing! They were only slightly more expensive than the other guys who print flyers and damage your stuff. Black Tie provided a first class relocation experience. The movers that came on the day of the move were just like what was described to me over the phone when I scheduled with them. I couldnt believe how clean cut they were and My wife and I felt comfortable right off the bat. The move went smooth. The guys worked quickly and efficiently but handled my items very safely! We have moved several times and I can tell you that their billing structure is very simple. At any point in my move I knew exactly what the bill was. Recently moved from Germantown Tn to Cordova Tn 11/20/17 I could not be more pleased with the professional and courteous work of the movers they sent. They were on time - explained everything to me the move took the amount of time I estimated moving from a townhome condo where the parking is challenging at best they still did a great job facilitating the move. We used Black Tie yesterday based on the 17 5-star reviews already on Yelp. So, I was already expecting it to be pretty good. But great would be and understatement. These gentlemen were awesome! Everything about it was an example of outstanding customer service; scheduling, pre-call the day of, the team, everyone's flexibility. My husband and I have moved 10+ times due to jobs with full relo packages and while those have been good, Black Tie exceed those by a lot. EXCELLENT experience with Black Tie Moving on Monday, June 27!! As luck would have it, it rained for most of my scheduled moving day. There were two jobs before me that ran long (as I expected due to the weather), so it was after 5 before they started, but they worked hard and quickly. My movers Curtis and Rasuun were incredible! They showed up early and ended up having to wait on me. They greeted me with smiles and were done unloading my truck in an hour! They were friendly, gentle with my stuff and easy to talk to. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone. They deserve raises and tips because they are so amazing! WOW!!! I cannot say enough great things about Jimmy, Braxton (and the other guys name who I do not remember, sorry!!) They were so kind and professional. They arrived to our house at 12, and had our entire house loaded and on the way to our new house by 12:30. My roommates and I felt so bad that we were moving into a second floor duplex, but these guys made carrying heavy furniture up stairs look easy and finished in barely an hour.
