However I stand corrected, and although I don't know anything about the origins of the actual name, I no longer associate this place with pounded raw beef. This is another Lewes clothes shop aimed at middle aged women. This one has a bit more of a distinctive, ethnic-y vibe than some of the others; unlike Darcey or Renwick Clarke which just put me in mind of three piece suites and pristine lawns, Capriccio has slightly more bohemian feel. They sell those striped, handwoven basket bags from Kenya that I associate with the 80s, mostly because my mum used to have one. The clothing labels have names like 'Masai,' 'Sahara' and 'Oska,' and feature drapey, crepey tunics, and other unstructured pieces. They have some nice dressing gowns in ethnic prints, and also a nice selection of hats, including a stretchy straw hat that folds down flat. I am currently in the market of a nice sun hat, so I tried one on, but at £40 it was more than I wanted to spend. They also sell espadrilles and chunky jewellery pieces.

You can find a few things here and there to complete your closet or pick up your regular items you've run out of like their double pack face wipes for a pound (my one most favourite item). The location itself is not very big and I find then men's section quite small here. The women's floor has a pretty good variety. I always love the makeup section but it is a bit small here too. The queues to pay are never too busy. I find they move quite fast. I also like looking in around the register area for last minute cheap items. If I were to return to Crawley I would be back to Primark to poke around and see what I can find. On this trip I did end up finding a few good items to bring home. Be prepared to pick up items you didn't even intend to buy. Like the 4 tubes of lipstick I picked up!!

My one piece of advice would be, if you see a bargin, grab it while you can as it may not be there next time you go. The staff are friendly and helpful but don't know themselves what is going to be on the next delivery. There is a small car park attached to store but this is often full, there is a council pay and display carpark just across the road. A shop well worth popping into regularly to spot a bargin or two.

Turning it into a one-stop destination for shoppers in a hurry, they also sell shoes, bags and accessories. Designers include Beyond Skin, Sam Ubhi, Ally Capellino, Best Behavior, Hartford, Anna Nygards and Anouk. If you see something you like and it doesn't quite fit, they also provide alterations and styling advice. If they could make me a size smaller, I'd buy my whole wardrobe from there!

She then boldly criticised mine and my husband-to-be's choice on our wedding colours and made me feel as though I was being incredibly selfish, even though my Mum already had her favourite colour picked out! She asked nothing about her, what type of wedding we were having, what style, colours etc. my Mum was interested in wearing. I have never encountered such appalling service. We left feeling insulted and angry and there is no way my Mum was going to give this woman her business to buy such a special outfit for such a special day.

Its dangerously close to the other shop so i can see me spending all my wages in here. They have so many nice dresses to choose from and its better now that there is more room to see all the different styles they have on offer. I hope they will do really well with all the proms next year. I've already decided i'll be getting my Christmas ball dress from here, if i can decide which one. This shop is a must visit as the owners are really lovely and always help me find something amazing to wear. Will definitely be telling all my friends. Available in a rich burgundy red or warm brown leather with interesting buckle detail, at £50. I also loved the cute accessories, particularly the leather 'flower' corsages.
