Working with Tony was such a wonderful experience. Certain people have a very artistic soul and he is one of those inspired people. We appreciate his communication and his dedication to his art shines through so clearly working together. This was our first time being in front of the camera and he made it feel like second nature. We're obsessed with how the pictures came out and can't wait to work together again. read more

If I could leave a zero stars I would, The customer service here is horrible, This people really expect you to respond in 2 seconds or "you're wasting people's time" I looked at some other reviews and realized this guy's customer service suck, I've worked in the service industry for a long time, and this is the kind of business that ONLY WANTS YOUR MONEY AND DOESN'T CARE ABOUT HIS WORK, they really think they're good but seriously, they can't even assume fault or try to understand that they are not as good as they think. read more

Professionalism? Not even a concept here. As someone who RARELY writes reviews... I'm taking the time to advise you to keep searching for a different photographer. If you don't respond to their messages within a day apparently this is how they treat customers. I went to go follow up with potential vendors today, and I was left this message. Very unprofessional and rude. Seems that every time they get a bad review they try to say the person is "an obsessed stalker" or insinuate that they're a liar, rather than take any accountability. Arguing with people in your reviews rather than apologizing for the unprofessionalism is a terrible look for your company. Seems like I dodged a bullet with these guys. Would NEVER recommend a business like this. EDIT: When 'Customer Service' Means Lies and Attitude. You're lying in your reply to this review. I hadn't opened any messages from your account. Once I did, you had actually blocked my account before I ever had a chance to reply. If you were genuinely trying to "communicate" or move forward, what would blocking me solve? You are contradicting yourself and proving yourself to be extremely dishonest. The fact that you reply to each negative review that the customer is conveniently somehow ALWAYS the problem, is also dishonest. Maybe you should reevaluate the passive aggressiveness and consider a more professional approach. Or I don't know, take some accountability? You seem miserable and you're making your company look very shady. It's a bad look to be combative and aggressive to people. But hey, if that's the image you'd like to create for your business, congratulations, you are succeeding. read more

Maria and Tony are absolutely amazing! We just did our vow renewal invitation photoshoot with them a couple weeks ago and we ALREADY got our photos back!! My husband is active duty military and we only had one day to do the shoot and Maria and Tony found a way even though they were fully booked; they did EVERYTHING they could to accommodate and make it an amazing experience. They also have been so understanding with our insane schedule changes and I am forever grateful, also can we talk about the PRODUCT??? HELLO? Vintage, timeless, gorgeous, PERFECT. I could not imagine a better product. read more

My husband and I had never done a professional photoshoot so we were a bit nervous about it but Tony took care of us. He chose the location based on what I asked for, we had constant communication and if there was a change, he notified me promptly. He is very professional. When it came to the shoot, he knew how to warm us up. He allowed us to be ourselves and made us feel comfortable. He was very patient with us and our fur baby. He reminded us to enjoy the view and just be natural. This photoshoot was very special and important to us because it's our 10th wedding anniversary but also, our fur baby is a senior dog who's had health issues recently so we wanted to make sure we had some special memories with him. The final outcome was so beautiful! Thank you again! read more

This is a very long, overdue review. My fiance at the time recommended Tony and Maria. Tony did our engagement & wedding photos. He is very pleasant to work with. All our photos we loved. As a bride, Idk if I drove him crazy as my delivery at times isn't the greatest. (sorry for that) Tony is patient when there was a miscommunication he was quick to set up a Zoom call, and we discussed further. I met his wife in person the day of the wedding, and she is the sweet person. She captured beautiful photos with myself and the girls while we were getting ready. Our wedding was small and simple. The way they captured every detail was just amazing. I love their work ethic, everything they said they delivered. read more

Received the final edited pictures and was very disappointed. Trash on the floor that was not edited out, obvious dirty dripping marks on the wall, no clothing edits where needed no professional retouching at all and the worst is the outdoor piping and signs that were not removed. The quality I expected since he quote on quote edited all pics in one day! I messaged him to let him know I was very unhappy. You got a supposedly professional photographer and get back finished photos with trash, outdoor piping and no retouching at all! I was unhappy and very honest. The response I received back was more unprofessional than the photos. My unhappiness was a problem from his very first response, very passive aggressive, entitled and just got worse from there! He was more worried about his feelings being hurt by my honesty than the quality of the services rendered by his company. Was honestly not being mean... if I was a photographer I would be mortified if I sent final edited pics with trash, dirty walls and outdoor piping that according to him was all minor and the charm of working outside! That's the whole point of professional photography where there was once trash........ there is editing...!!!!! Update to his response: he did in fact recommend Balboa park and actually said he thinks it would be great! PLEASE SEE ADDED PICTURE OF HIS MESSAGE STATING THAT! Was never told it would be a 3 week turn around which either way would not have been a problem. Since I was not made aware I simply touched bases to find out! Was in no way rushing! You were more focused on going on and on about how you thought I was being mean then actually remedying the situation. Like you stated in the messages I said what I had to say and so did you. But instead of switching to remedying the situation you just kept on with how you were unhappy about my delivery then continued to get more unhappy that I had responses to your consistent opinions on my delivery. Also, just an FYI I am sorry you feel that way is not an apology and lacks professional accountability! Black rider studios continues to up date his update trying to play victim. The pictures clearly show where your focus was Instead of being professional and focusing on the problem at hand. Me responding to your non resolution focused texts or voicing my unhappiness is not harassment! Again unprofessional! And the lies you are typing like removing homeless you showed me the pictures you are referring to and my body literally hid the tents as they were far away!! Just like you said you never recommend balboa and you did in fact recommend it! All cameras photograph the surroundings as they are but professional photographers make edits so the pictures look professional! You are just going in circles with excuses that do not remedy the quality of final edits you sent! Bottom line if you look at the final product you sent me and feel that correctly documents your talent as a photographer and you are happy with your work then so be it! I simply paid to get what I thought were going to be professional quality photos and the ones sent were poorly edited and no where near professional level! And when voiced to you instead of keeping it about the photos and business you choose to let your emotions lead you into only focusing on that! Vs actually editing the photos. All of your negative reviews have the same feedback from you!!!! All emotion and defense focused! A customer voicing there unhappiness for a service they paid for is not a mistake! You letting your emotions make you defensive and not focus on the problem at hand was the problem and still is! Unprofessional! However we do agree on one thing there is to much bitterness in the world so let's have control over our emotions so when we run a business we can stay professional and resolution minded! Have a great day as well! read more

We found Black Rider Studios on instagram and after a zoom call, we decided to book them for our wedding next June. Tony included an engagement session with our package and we just received our final photos and I am absolutely in awe of what he was able to pull out of us and create! My fiance and I were so nervous going into the shoot because we are both so awkward in front of a camera, but Tony works in a way that immediately we felt at ease and comfortable. He captured such magic that I didn't think could exist with two little awkward lovebirds. I am so excited to see what he captures at our wedding. I would recommend him to anyone, you will be so glad you worked with him! Thank you Tony! read more

I've been sitting here trying to write an honest review for Tony & Maria and I'm unsure where to begin so bare with me. My husband and I cannot begin to thank Tony and Maria enough. We've caught ourselves looking through our album a number of times. The emotion that these two caught the day of our wedding is indescribable. Tony and I would bounce ideas off of one another when it came to locations for our wedding pictures. At first I was thinking the usual a park to capture nice pictures but honestly I would be lying if I said our wedding was anything but normal. Our reception had beautiful scenery around it so I took my chances and asked if Tony was willing to make it work. I was ecstatic when he was all for my crazy idea. I'll attach the amazing pictures that they captured. I've shared some pictures with our close family and friends and we get so many compliments. Tony and Maria thank you for being so patient, so kind, and a huge thank you for making us feel so special. We will forever be grateful. **FYI I got these preview photos 3 hours after Tony and Maria left our venue. They love what they do and it shows** read more

Couldn't have asked for a more professional or easy going experience. We both met at Palomar Mountain and continued to take several area shots in a few different outfits. for their price you can find MUCH better talented and professional photographers trust me. They even made me feel rushed for my big event.

I don't even know where to begin with this review! I truly have so many good things to say that it's just piling on my mind. Let me start by saying that communicating with Tony & Maria was so easy. They were considerate, quick to respond, and always more than glad to answer any questions or concerns. They were so patient with us before and during our wedding. They, along with Steve & Abraham from Yugen Films, were so amazing and fun to work with on our big day. They make such an incredible team. I love that they captured lots of great moments, down to the smallest details. They weren't constantly asking us for things or to pose. They just knew what they wanted to take pictures of and who. I love every single detail they shot. All of them are truly experts. They knew how to work around a crowded, lively hotel room as we were preparing for the wedding. It honestly felt like they were just hanging out with us, not in an unprofessional way but as in they weren't getting in people's ways. According to many of our guests, they were impressed at how the 4 of them didn't obstruct any views at the ceremony and reception or gave the impression that they have the "right of way" since they were capturing our big day. Yet, they captured the best moments perfectly! It was such a pleasant surprise to see our photos (and video!). Looking at our album, I was falling in love with literally every other photo and my reaction was, "Oh wow! They caught that!" I'm no photography expert whatsoever, but I definitely love their style. Just what I wanted/imagined. As I briefly mentioned earlier, they're not into constantly staging the entourage or telling them to pose/act/pretend/etc.. I loved that so much because 1) it tends to waste time especially on a busy wedding day, and 2) it obviously isn't natural or genuine. Yes, there were a few times that we did pose because we took family/entourage portraits, but for the most part, we just went about our day as if no photo/video crew was following us. I can say with no hesitation that you can give them full trust to handle your big day! Another thing I loved (so did my family and guests) was the reception portraits. They were so good about coordinating with our venue to set up the background, and they were on top of it. They had all our guests line up to get a quick shot with us--no time wasted! When we shared the photos with the guests, everyone loved them. These guys are all about catching candid moments and making sure you go about your big day without being anxious of getting your picture/video taken. They are very professional and know just how to cater to your desired look. Lastly, they will make sure that you have a memorable remembrance of one of the most special days of your life. read more
