Music starts at 8 on Saturday night and is varied but always wonderful. Some people describe this little bohemian gem as reminiscent of San Francisco in the 60's and 70's. A mixture of older expats and 30ish 40ish and younger Mexican crowd makes a nice mix--all appreciative of this wonderful music venue as well as the espresso and coffee drinks, latés, frappachinos, desserts, wine and beer. Isidro, one of the proprietors, usually shows his own art as well as the art of various locals. Kristina, his partner in life and business, runs the bar and also sometimes "mans" the piano, playing her own compositions. If you are lucky, she'll have some of her CD's available. On the first Wednesday of every month, local poets and writers read their work at the Squeaky Wheels reading series. The work is varied and always entertaining. Readings begin at 3:30 and after an hour and a half of food-for-thought, most of the crowd usually shifts to Viva Mexico for food-for-body. A fun crowd. Friendly atmosphere. Kristina's gift shop sells locally produced jewelry, journals, sculpture and other art and gift goodies. Catch them on Facebook for their weekly music events and monthly art openings.

Local art (for sale) hang on the wall while the TV plays some classics pop music from the 80s(?) I was hungry and was looking for a big steak. Seeing most of the filete were 6.4oz, I was at first not sure if it will be enough. I went for the mole filete Encacahuatado. It came a garlic bread perfectly toasted. The steak sat on top of a bed of alfalfa sprout, zucchini and mushrooms. The star is of course the mole sauce. In the end, I finished everything including the bread. I was so full that I did not have room for the flan I wanted to try. The servers are all very polite and one spoke good English. I highly recommend this place. You may not get the ambience or mariachi singing live, but instead, you get excellent food and service.

If you're in GDL, this is a must stop and eat at place!…read more While staying in GDL for one night on business, I wanted to find something that was authentic to Mexico. Something that wasn't too flashy with the price amped up and definitely not a street vendor (whole other story)...came across this place on yelp. The pictures drew me in, the reviews sold me! Took a chance, hired an Uber and off I went to check this place out. Definitely a "hole in the wall" appearance from the street, but once you get inside you're greeted with the bright Mexican colors, the tasteful restaurant layout and attentive sincere staff. The food was phenomenal! 10/10 for the Tacos de Jicama!! (MUST TRY, over and over again!!) 9/10 Pulpo Loco! The Octopus was cooked to perfection! (Which is not an easy task)...Add the lovely light vegetables, then pair with the tamarind sauce, extremely delicious! Sadly, I wasn't pleased with the risotto. (Fix the risotto and you have 10/10 hands down!) Lastly, absolutely loved that they offer an English menu, traditional Mexican music on multiple tv's (volume was perfect for conversing), as well as gorgeous art for purchase. You will not be disappointed by this restaurant! Next time I'm in GDL, I'll be back and this time I'll be staying for dessert or two! PERFECTA
