I hope people realize the negative reviews are basically because they went the first few days. We went Saturday. Night , waited 45 minutes but the text telling you where you are in line makes it move fast. The place seems kind of small, not that many tables. Our service was great , we loved the cornbread muffin, reminded me of Tippins cornbread. Salads were good , I had chicken fried steak and loved that you can get a small portion which was just Perfect and very good ! My husband had the salmon And said it was good too. How to define this place? I'll start by noting that this chain has identified every conceivable bear-related concept imaginable and incorporated it somewhere in there restaurant and/or menu. Kitsch would not be an inappropriate descriptor in this case. Who knew we had so many different references to bears in our lives? You'll be reminded if you eat there. That said, their food was excellent, the staff friendly and informative and the restaurant was clean including the restrooms. Portions were large. Three of us all had something different and all were well prepared. Breakfast menu is available all day. -And they have huckleberry ice cream that was delicious! How can you not love a place that offers breakfast all day? They offer a varied menu with typical breakfast fare: eggs, pancakes, waffles, etc. They also offer some interesting and unique choices. I opted for a delicious-sounding Veggie Hash. 2 eggs any style (I chose poached) Hash of bell-pepper, onion, mushroom, avocado, diced red potato on a bed of fresh spinach with cherry tomatoes and wheat toast. I asked for no bell peppers and the dish was absolutely as delicious as it sounded. (530 calories) On the way out I noticed some very tempting baked fruit bowls in the bakery case. I didn't get one, but they are at the top of my radar for next time. I appreciate the menu printing the calorie count clearly for those who want to know. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and efficient. Prices are moderate and about what is expected. Only negative is a bit of a tiny parking area within the midst of several commercial businesses. Overall, an exceedingly positive experience and I'll gladly return to Black Bear Diner. read more

Omg!! Love , love this restaurant! The food is excellent, and lots of it ... You absolutely get plenty of food for a great price. The staff is excellent!! My wife and I go to this restaurant at least 1-2 times a week . This is out go to place . Everyone needs go try it , then you will know what I mean . The fried chicken is to die for! It's not oily and not a lot of flour . The prime beef is also yummy, I know you can have breakfast all day there .. I feel everything on the menu is pretty good with the exception of the fried fish. read more

We used to be regular customers since there's great breakfast and dinner, reasonable price. The manager was very rude and falsely accused us of stealing bear slippers even though we had a receipt. I really hate when I have a bad first experience cause then I definitely don't go back. This past Tuesday I decided to use my coupon that was sent to me for my free breakfast entree. I bought a fruit cup for $5 and some change, I get half way down the highway to see my fruit cup is not in the bag. I called the store and told them I maybe able to come back later and get what I paid for, the lady told me she leaves at 3.. the fish and chips meal was what I ordered. It was great with the vinegar but the coleslaw on the side was dry. My friend ordered a burger. They claim the burger was good but not anything special. The service was amazing and where quick and reactive. read more

This place had a shoulder to shoulder packed front waiting room, and in the time I waited I watched 10+ parties leave because of an hour wait time, just to find out that the large booths with thick tall dividers were still half closed. They are piling everyone up in the waiting room instead of seating them in the well divided dining room. I ordered the salmon. It was not salmon, but fish, and it was so over cooked I could not even eat it. The waitress said our food took so long to come out because the salmon takes a long time cook? This confused me because usually it is just seared? But they cooked the crap out of it that's for sure. read more

No big deal After pointing it out the older "manager" she came and told me it was a upcharge though i said i wouldnt of got it knowingly X2. COVID restrictions very lose. Masks seldom cover nose & mouth. Reusing dessert menus. Waitress had fresh food enroute to another table, grabbed our dirty dinner plates in one arm & then delivered the fresh food. Pulled more dirty dishes along with an empty water pitcher. Dropped off dirty dishes while holding the pitcher & then without missing a step refilled it on the drink station ready to return to refill water in the dining room. Ok, I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal in Black Bear Diner. I had the California omelette with Chicken Sausage Links which was excellentthe quality, the price is reasonable. Been to black bear diner a couple times , the first time was in Colorado Springs Colorado, just thought it was ok , wasn't anything special just ok ... I think it's way over priced ! When I came last week I ordered the stuffed French Toast with black Berry and I didn't really care for it and it was over 13.00 which is way too expensive, the classic was 9 something and that's what I was originally going to order but the waitress talked me into getting the other , wasn't a fan at all! Three of us had a late lunch there today. Daughter had the meaty omelet served with hash browns and a giant biscuit. She said it was very tasty. The omelet had bacon, ham, and sausage inside. The granddaughter ordered the open face turkey sandwich with delicious mashed potatoes and turkey gravy covered it all. Yum. I had a Ruben sandwich with sweet potato fries also yum. The servings were so large each of us carried out half of our meals. Our server, Penny, was courteous and friendly. She kept our glasses full the entire time. Our only negative was we were seated close to the busy serving center where orders were being loudly called out. Way to noisy!! This was our first time at Black Bear diner. I gave it 4-star rating. We had about a 20 minute wait to be seated. Our server, Dennis was very pleasant and nice. Unfortunately I asked for a glass of water 3 times before I received it. As for the food I ordered the pot roast mini meal and it was wonderful. The meat was very tender and seasoned. It came with mashed potatoes and veggies. My husband order the open faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes. He said it was very good and seasoned. The issue with our food order...our server Dennis forgot to put our order in. He realized what had been done, came and apologized to us for the delay. He placed a 'rush' on our order. I appreciated that he took ownership of the error. Anyway we will go back, there is a variety of menu items we want to try. read more

Ate lunch here on Wednesday. The decor is super cute and our waitress ( Abby?) was great. I got the eggs hollandaise and while they were edible, they weren't anything to write home about. Terrible.. I thought it would be very good, but it was very disappointing. First off, the music is so loud that I could barely converse with the people I went with. Secondly, the price is outrageous for the amount you get. I got the Cinnamon Roll French Toast, it was three of them but they were very thin. My mom and aunt (the other two people I was with) ordered the Cheeseburger Salad and the meat was COLD. We waited 40 minutes after we were seated just to get our order taken. We even watched as our food sat under the warming lights for 15 minutes! By the time we got our food everything except for the French Toast was cold. The manager blew it off as it "being a learning experience" and said, "It is our first day open" like that is a proper excuse. I will never be going back to another Black Bear Diner!! read more

Been looking at trying the place out since it opened up. Finally hit them up for Breakfast one morning and loved it! Decided to give them a shot for breakfast as well. Service was great! This open spaced rustic environment is host to pleasant customer service and plenty of great homemade food. The steak comes with cheesy grits, oversized biscuits and a large portion of shredded hashbrowns. Everything was cooked to perfection and you don't need to add salt or pepper. We also had pie and that was deliciously homemade as well. Our server was Demma and she was fantastic. The customers were friendly and happy along with everyone who worked there. Honestly, we try to avoid chains and patronize "mom and pop" places. However, Sunday we had missed lunch and were hungry and had limited options. Stopped in about 4pm and got seated. Upfront I will say that service was a bit slow, but we know that most eateries are short-staffed now, so we give grace (and tip well). That said, the food far exceeded our expectations! It is comfort food, breakfast served all day, brag about their coffee...you get the idea. Well I had the smaller portion meatloaf dinner, and it was quite good. Tasty and slightly different (they use some sausage in it), moist, and nice texture. Mashed potatoes (real!) were good, as was the gravy on both. Side of green beans was delish...not overcooked, plenty of bacon and onion. Meatloaf is topped with an onion ring for cutes, but I may have to get an order next time...was very good. Wife got a taco salad, which was massive...she probably brought 2/3 home. Fresh, plentiful ingredients and what appeared to be a homemade large crisp tortilla bowl. Price was quite reasonable. I will admit that I have never been inside this restaurant, but due to Covid-19 I have ordered through door dash a few times now. The meals have had very generous portions, and the taste is better than anything from Denny's or IHOP (which is the closest competitors menu-wise as far as I can tell) highly recommended if your stuck inside and want some good food. read more
