Hand-Breaded Fish Fry
Renee M.

I've been to Black Bear Diner plenty of times and every time has been a good experience! On Friday I decided to go for the all you can eat fish fry. It was so good and the fish tasted super fresh and fried right before it got put on the plate. It really is a great deal especially for a big appetite because they give you a large amount of food.

Cinnamon Roll French Toast* (1650 cals.)

Had a great breakfast here this morning. Dana did a great job as our waitress. She took our order quickly and kept the coffee full the whole meal. I had the corned beef hash and eggs with hash browns. The corned beef hash is made my favorite way. It's obvious this isn't out of a can. The corned beef had great flavor. These are thick strip has browns but they were perfect. The eggs were cooked to a perfect over medium. My friend had the special cinnamon roll French toast. She said it was fantastic. The restaurant had a cozy feel to it. It was a weekday morning so it was pretty quiet but it looks like there is plenty of room between tables to keep it cozy on a weekend as well.

B&G ?

What happened to this place , did they fire the good cook and replace him with an I don't know what . I ordered the build your own, what a mistake he could have left the eggs in the shell for as much as they were cooked and when I asked for B&G all I got was a lot of B and not much G , I left almost all of the meal on the plate and the waitress didn't even ask why. I think it'll be a long time before I try them again, maybe they will give the cook some lessons.

New York Steak & Eggs, substitute the biscuits for wheat toast

Let's start with the superior service. Our waitress was very helpful in explaining the menu options. Not to mention stopping back by regularly to make sure we were good and if we needed anything else. Very casual setting with a log cabin in the mountains kind of a feel. Very relaxed. Now to the food. Let me first say I feel like I'm a pancake conoseir . The pancakes were not only huge (beware) but delicious. They were very filling, and the syrup was more than a compliment to each bite. My stomach thought it could handle two, but you see their size in picture !! The potatoes were fresh, roasted with onions and peppers. Although I wasn't a fan of the chicken sausage (because I don't care for brat size sausage), don't let that detour you. My husband advised the steak was flavorful and that the eggs paired well with the cheese. We enjoyed every bite and will definitely be back for another visit. May try the lunch items next time around. Be sure to stop by !!

The host, and the Yelp app quoted us 10-20 minutes, but we got there after 20 and ended up waiting about 15 more. This was unfortunate since there isn't a big waiting area and we were very much in the way, but the staff was nice and worked to get tables pushed together for us. After being sat it took about 10-15 minutes to get our order in, and about 15-20 for the food to come. Not bad at all with how busy this place is! All of our food came out hot and delicious at the same time! I had the cowboy Benedict with chicken fried steak, and gravy on the side. The steak was alright, pretty thin, and nothing surprisingly tasty about it. The eggs were delicious and my favorite part! The hashbrowns were fine, and the biscuit was also great--crispy edges which were perfect! I got a sticky biscuit with extra icing and really appreciated the amount of icing I got!! This was my favorite part of the meal, again the crispy edges made this such a great texture as well as the taste. Our server Amber did a great job taking care of our large party! She was nice, and checked on us several times. All the staff we came into contact with were very nice and friendly. The bathrooms were small and a little jenky, but otherwise the vibe of this spot was good. Nothing fancy at all, but what you'd expect for a quick turnaround family brunch spot. This would be my first choice for a boujee made-from-scratch meal, but for a large party this is relatively easy to get into--which has been my experience at 2 different locations near KC so far. I'm sure I'll be back with my group again next time we are in the area!

From omelettes to perfect sunny side up, they're wonderful! I've never been served anything but the best dishes from the kitchen. The servers are always pleasant and professional... Eager to serve you, the customer. It's a kitchy environment, full of autographed star photos, and old style kitchen and restaurant items and advertising signs. Cozy and Homey.

Our server, Kim, was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She promptly served me my hot coffee. It was mild and HOT! Just as I love it. My husband ordered OJ. It was super fresh - - yes, I tasted it - - and delicious. I ordered the Barbacoa Chilaquiles Breakfast Bowl. It is a VERY generous serving. I brought over half of it home! Delightfully plated, it was brimming with flavors. Delicious. My husband, the lover of all things "hash" ordered the Farmhouse Hash. I'll be ordering that the next time - - we shall return! - - it looked amazing. Others at the table? Son ordered French Toast, grandson #1 ordered blueberry pancakes (he shared a bite. STUPENDOUS! Large, plump FRESH blueberries in two HUGE pancakes) a side of biscuits and gravy AND a side of bacon. He's a growing boy!! His younger brother chose the Power Wrap. The fussiest eater in the group, he proclaimed it DELICIOUS!! (No mushrooms please. I told you he is fussy.) The DIL chose The Traditional breakfast and it did not disappoint. The serving dishes and utensils are first rate. The settings are lovely and the atmosphere is relaxing and COMFORTING. Until next time.....looking forward to another grand experience at this first rate place.

In my opinion, $22 for an Easter brunch buffet should mean hot food that won't run out. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Our party of 10 arrived at 11:00am and all of the food in the buffet was cold. Even when they'd bring more of a certain item to replace on the buffet line, it wasn't warm. The only item that was hot was the prime rib at the carving station. Being pregnant, I felt extremely uncomfortable eating cold buffet food due to the increased risk of food poisoning, so I wasn't able to enjoy much beyond the room temperature biscuits and the last scrapings of the white gravy along with some green beans that were warmish. Defintely not worth the $22 a person. They also ran out of carrot cake on Easter of all holidays, which was a disappointment. We probably won't be back for a buffet at Sandy's, which is a shame because our family has eaten their Mother's Day buffet several times and it had been fine (not stellar, but fine). Also, just a personal opinion, but the constant use of bad AI pictures on their Facebook is so cringey. The Boomers might like it, but the younger crowd sees this sort of stuff and thinks "yikes." We'd rather see real pictures of your real food, not a cartoon depiction.
