My over cooked steakit was tough
Fely L.

First stop before the outlets. Came in for breakfast and it was not bad. Daughter and hubby shared chicken fried steak breakfast and it was CFS was good. Other black bear diner the CFS portion is much bigger nevertheless it was nice thickness that it wouldn't be dried. I got steak and eggs was disappointed on my steak as I said medium but came out well and tough. I didn't want to send it back. The pancake saved me. It was nice and fluffy the way I like it. Also the sweet potato fries were good. First time to this location and it's nice size restaurant and no wait on a Saturday at 10am.

The food remains good. They haven't changed the sauce lol. However, it takes forever to order and get the food. Maybe they need more employees.

Food portion are generous, big plates and lots of food. Food is tasty, this is our go to when traveling. Service is excellent, we came on a week night and were seated right away. Ambiance is cozy, everything has bear decor, very cozy and cute.

Possibly the best black bear in the business I'm from Bakersfield CA, and we have a black bear dinner here too. It's not the "Best"... so when my people said let's go to black bear to get the day started I gave a side eye and thought twice. I relented and went along for the ride and I can't tell you how glad I am that I did. The food was so good, service was so amazing. The food came out super fast and was extra fresh. Pancakes were very good and everything I ordered was exactly what I expected but better. I almost want to go the black bear dinner here in town again to give them a second try.... Or maybe I'll just keep coming to this one when I'm in the area. Ambiance was also very chill here so even more reason to return. Not busy at all

Service was fast and friendly and food was also hot and good. The cinnamon French toast was delicious! Definitely recommend!!

Blackened Salmon, Pork Slow-Cooked Pot Roast, Mac and Kraft Mac & Cheese (270 cals.) and Grilled Cheese (580 cals.)

Food: Mac and Cheese and grilled cheese for the kids. They ate it all and enjoyed it. I had the blackened salmon, blackened seared to perfection by one of the managers (Mike). Wife had the Slow Roasted Pork Roast. She really enjoyed it. We finished off with Berry Pie À la Mode and the boys had chocolate cream pie. As with Dinner, delicious. Service: Stellar, outstanding, not enough words to describe how they were. Greg was fantastic attentive, very nice. Ambiance: Standard BB Diner atmosphere. Restaurant was very clean. I've been going to BB Diners all over California. I was not about to come here because of the awful reviews. I'm glad I came here. Mike, Greg and the entire crew were very helpful, friendly and nice.

We walked in and waited to be seated for a few moments before a man walked up to the counter and told us to sit at the third booth on the left. He seemed far more interested in the personal conversation he was having with another coworker than seeing to us. He didn't even look at us as he set menus on the table. This was our first time to a Black Bear Diner. We didn't realize at first that the old wrinkled newspaper they set down with the laminated specials menu was the full menu. The waitress who served our table was very nice and attentive. She answered any questions we had and came over just often enough for us. About the food. I ordered the homemade chicken pot pie and mashed potatoes with gravy. My husband ordered the BLT with fries. The potatoes were smashed reds and they were delicious and creamy. They came with brown gravy which was also good. The pot pie had a yummy filling. Chicken, herbs, Peas, onions, mushrooms, and carrots. But the crust, which thankfully was only on top, was horrible. Chewy, tough, and over cooked. I suggest not eating it. The fries also tasted pretty good. They had a crisp coating and were salted nicely. The BLT was okay. The flavor was nice, but the bacon was chewy. Over all not a bad experience, and the proximity to the Best Western can't be beat.

Stop by here on the way home since it was right off the 101. Portions are large. Menu has so many items to pick from so it can get overwhelming on what to order. There so many good foods that I was craving. I ended up getting their daily special. Got the spicy chicken pasta. The flavor was on par and definitely spicy. The dish came hot as you can continue to see the steam from the noodles while your eat your meal. The service was descent for a dinner for 3pm in the afternoon as it's definitely a weird time to be eat. The restaurant had some sports memorabilia and bear decorations. Will probably come back to stop for food on my next road trip down south if I'm hungry

Another sign states that Betsy's has been serving this community since 1981. I was greeted immediately upon entering and advised to "just sit anywhere." I grabbed the first booth I encountered and was brought water and menu right away. The waitress took my order of a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings ($16.50). A few minutes later the onion rings of my dreams (super crispy on the outside and a real onion rings inside with enough crunch left that you can bite through without dragging a soggy onion out of its outer shell, so each mouthful is both onion and crunchy coating) arrived and a sandwich with crispy (not soggy, underdone) bacon, hefty burger patty (done just how I like them with carmelized edges and perfectly done thick center) with cheese, pickles, red onions, lettuce and mayo. I asked them to leave off the tomato due to my food allergies. The bun was soft but held up well to the heft of the sandwich. The decor was classic 60's style diner. While the seats were well padded and the covering looked practically new, some of the tables showed the wear of the years on the corners. There is also a short lunch counter next to the kitchen. What really caught my attention is the staff seemed to know most of the guests and greeted them by name as they came and went and inquired into different aspects of their lives. This personal touch reflects what seems to be a long-time relationship with dedicated customers. Parking is close to the door. This place was a little hard for me to find as it is behind the bowling alley at Tennant Station Shopping center, but was well worth the effort to locate and enjoy. I will be returning in the future!!

We finally decided on the chili verde, scrambled eggs, country potatoes with flour tortillas AND the eggs in a nest, with hash browns and bacon. Both were yummy yet I must say the chili verde and eggs were the favorite at the table. I have to mention the coffee was good and our mugs were always full. Betsy's crew was so friendly and attentive. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile at the door, seated timely and given time to figure out what to order. By the way, all the tables were full. Which immediately told me, we were about to have a fantastic meal. The restaurant was clean, ran smoothly and the customers all truly looked to be enjoying their meals. Can't wait to try the pancakes!

So they decided why not Mil's? L O C A T I O N Mil's Diner is located off of Calaveras Blvd and Abbott Ave. It's in a plaza close to Goodwill. The parking situation here can be very difficult during the busy times of eating. I N S I D E It's a diner! Yes it feels like an old school diner with a bar area and booths to sit in. They do have a restroom if you need it. M E N U It's a fairly extensive menu with all your good ol' diner food from breakfast fare to lunch. That day I decided I'd get the 50/50 (2 bacon & 2 sausage) with over easy eggs, hashbrowns and sourdough bread. Pricing feels a little bit on the high side, but to be honest it's been so long since I've been to a diner that this might be normal. How was it? It was good! The hashbrowns a tad bit oily, but I was expecting that. Eggs good, bacon crispy, sausage bouncy. S E R V I C E It was warm, friendly and lovely. The wait though was uff. So if you can send out someone early to scout the line or I'm unsure if they can put your name down as you drive over. But the wait times can get really long. I think we waited about an hour or maybe 40-ish min? But this was a Sunday at lunch time and we had 4 people. We actually paid by cash which was easier for all of us and we didn't need change back. Amazing when we all have cash handy. O V E R A L L I think it's a pretty solid diner with good food with friendly service. I'm sure we'll come back again as we enjoyed our time there and catching up. After we ordered our food, I switched ketchup bottles with the table next to mine because I wanted a fuller bottle, and the fat lady worker scolds me - "hey don't just put an empty bottle on another table" with a snarky attitude. Hey you trashy haired lady, I don't work here, don't tell me what to do. Most of the workers are nice but that old bag had some self-righteous attitude. Seen it a few times before too, with her gross ass make up. If you're so concerned about the ketchup bottles why don't you do your own damn job and make sure they're full, you lazy cow. She kind of ruined my meal, but I'm glad to hear other people complain about her rude behavior. She's probably a miserable sack of potatoes that's mad at herself because she doesn't know how to put down the fork.
