I attended this gym 2 years ago for a few sessions while in the area on business. This gym was excellent. The owner gave very good instruction and I give the gym a very high grade. This has so far been the most unprofessional BJJ School I have ever visited. To start, this school is not called BJJ High Point, it is called "Tiger Rock". When I called to do a drop-in for the night, they said they would allow it and I let them know I would talk with my significant other before confirming we would go. Before we hung up, they asked if I could give them a call to confirm if we would or would not go. Out of courtesy to a fellow martial arts gym, I gave them the courtesy callback to confirm that we would stop by to train for the night. Once we were 3 minutes out from the gym, One of their staff called and informed me that they would not take us in. This happened two hours after we arranged a class. The person on the line didn't even stay on to finish the call. She basically said (as a paraphrase) "you cannot train here. We do not allow drop-ins". When we arrived at the academy, we were greeted by a short blonde haired lady and her mannerisms resembled that of a modern-day Karen. At that time, she was telling us that they did not take in drop-ins from other academies because they "are not equipped for it". I was left dumbfounded because all you need to train Brazilian jiu jitsu is an instructor and a few students. Overall, this place wasted my time, gas, and was very unprofessional by canceling on me, last minute. If I had known that this would be the outcome, I would have set up a time to train at some of the other schools in the area, before they all closed. read more
