This is a delightful and inspiring independent boutique based at The Mailbox.
I was surprised when I walked in at just how much there is on display, which is all unique, bespoke and the items available in here would make ideal exclusive gifts.
The large and spacious room is split into different sections housing artwork, clothing, accessories from different Birmingham artists.
I firstly spoke to Angela Burman who uses life experiences, and a light, joy and colour strap-line as her underlying theme within her work. She is also a private collector. You'll find her inspiring work on the far wall which includes fine paintings and handmade character bears. A great display where her artwork clearly demonstrates her artistic point of view. ( You can also contact her on 07981 247421, or view online at www.angelaburmanfineart.co.uk )
On the far right hand side you have Joe Edwards Exclusive Collection. Joe is very enthusiastic with his own clothing brand and his motto of Live for Positivity clearly shows in his work. Bangers and Mash offers one off items and upto 25 on some pieces, so you feel what ever you buy is authentic and that you wont be looking like anyone else on the high street, so the clothing gives you a confidence and a great feeling. The clothing is all cotton, reversible iron, and the display includes tshirts, vests and hats to name a few.
( You can contact Joe Edwards on 07534799114 or view online at www.bangersandmashlife.co.uk, this website is due to be launched soon).
There is still a lot more to see, and so much of it is awe inspiring. You will find images on tiles and aluminium where they have a collective collaboration with the Mailbox and Birmingham University. Penelope Jordan uses textile inspired themes, and Gemma Elizabeth Holz is a designer and maker of beautiful crafts, all housed in the Tiger market on your left hand side.
I was lucky to see the Sit On My Face exhibition, and would point this one out if you can pay a visit. They take moulds of your face, and then pencil the drawings onto cushions, sofas and chairs! Just brilliant.
Whether your after mirrors, crafts, designer bags, inspiring and fashionable jewellery, paintings, leading fashion, this is the place to visit. Opening hours are Wednesday-Saturday 11am-7pm, Sunday 11am-5pm, and closed Mondays and Tuesdays. I'd be quick before it all sells out. read more
