About 5 years ago Calumet CC was sold to a company that wanted to create a truck facility…read more Community objected and owner operated as a public golf course. A group of friends and I purchased golf packages each year up until 2025. We patronized the course despite: 1. Poor course maintenance; 2. A requirement that online tee times had to be paid in advance even when we purchased a package; 3. The pro shop phone is rarely answered; 4. GPS does not work on many holes; 5. A teenager as the only pro shop employee on most days. I went to the pro shop on September 10, 2025 to make tee times as well as raise the other issues identified above. General Manager Ed told me to go play place elsewhere and when I expressed our disappointment, we argued and he ordered me out of the pro shop and cancelled the tee times I had requested. I told him we had paid for tee times not used and he said we would be reimbursed, but leave now. My group plays at many south suburban golf courses and we have never experienced this level of customer service. Their business is bad, and we know why.

Fried green tomatoes are surprisingly thick crumb-coated when you consider how small and dry the Korean short ribs are. I tried salmon once; the odd presentation over mash, surrounded by bright orange reduction was off-putting. It was also clearly not done in the center. The Angus burger was my consistent safe choice. There is a small fitness facility within the womens locker room. It has various small pieces, including a peloton. Most staff are new to their roles -- the desk person who checked me in, the catering assigned to our conference room, and the kitchen staff who set my plated meal an arms distance away instead of onto the leather pad in front of me. Our group was overcharged for our round, charged $60 for a $53 round, and when I went in to request a refund, the club manager's behavior was appalling. His initial response when I told him they overcharged me was "sure, we did" in a ver condescending manner. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I politely asked him not to speak to me in such a manner, he responded by saying it was his course and he could talk to me however he wanted, using explicit language. This was after he had already told another member of our party to "f*** off" and to "get the f*** off his golf course." All of this was after he had been rude to us on the course when he asked us to play faster. In my many years of playing golf, I have never encountered anyone as rude and disrespectful as this manager. I will NEVER play this course again and I strongly advise anyone who does not want to be cursed out at an establishment to find another course. I firmly believe that the manager had a problem with our group, which was entirely African American. I did not observe this level of rudeness directed at any other groups on the course. This experience was not only disappointing but also deeply concerning, and it has left a lasting negative impression on us. My sister and I were both fortunate enough to have celebrated our wedding receptions at the Flossmoor Country Club in the 1980's due to our grandmother's membership, even though our grandfather had passed away many years before. Since it is on such a busy street and is centrally located in the south suburbs of Chicago, the privacy of the clubhouse and parking lot makes the venue so lovely for a family event like a wedding reception or a shower. The beauty of the oak trees and greens were a perfect backdrop for wedding photos. The professionalism of the service staff and delicious meals were the best parts of these events. It has recently been brought to my attention that the Flossmoor Country Club has been purchased and will not allow wedding receptions and private banquets. I have mixed feelings about this. A private club, for members who can afford to sustain it, should be available on weekends and evenings for dinner service for it's members. However, a member should be allowed to plan a wedding in a clubhouse where he or she is a member. Nothing would make me happier than the Flossmoor Country Club to enjoy the success that they had in the past and, in this Renaissance, I believe that women and families should be the nexus of the club's mission statement.

Multiple cards containing cash, gift cards and checks in excess of $1500 were stolen from our card basket. The club tried to blame our guests, our band and even us saying we must have dropped them. After a police investigation the police have arrested a member of the staff at the club. We reached out to the club about trying to get some type of compensation, and they have never responded or even apologized for what happened. This incident has left us sick at heart and totally embarrassed, as we had to contact all our guests about the missing cards. It has put a big dark cloud over our memory of what should have been the happiest day of our lives.

I strongly recommend this to anyone that needs a meeting and event space. You can rent out one of the picnic areas in addition to the indoor meeting space. That is what we are doing for the ceremony.
