Typical outlet malls. They have a lot of stores, but need more variety in my opinion. You have to drive to alot of the different stores which takes a long time if you wanna shop in a hurry. They lack conveinant places to eat. Not that much cheaper than regular stores. read more

Been going here for as long as I can remember. If you do go, make sure to strap on a comfortable pair of walking shoes! There are probobly over a hundred stores to choose from and they spred over a wide area! I can spend the whole day here! And it's not far from Frankenmuth! There's the Gap, BCBG, Banana Republic, The North Face, A/X Armani Exchange, adidas Outlet Store, Ann Taylor and Loft, Barneys New York, bebe, Burberry, Calvin Klein, COACH, Columbia Sportswear, DKNY Jeans, Fossil, Lacoste, Michael Kors, PUMA . just to name a few. I usually find super good deals here, hope you have as good of luck as I do! read more

There are 2 things that go hand-in-hand when we're talking about Birch Run: Outlet malls and Frankenmuth chicken. People downstate have been going up north to experience this dynamic duo for years. I remember 15 years ago (when I was young but not completely oblivious) there was a reason to go to the outlet mall in Birch Run. Almost every store was an actual outlet store with significantly lower prices that were not available anywhere else. If you've been going to the outlet for the last decade, you should have noticed how many businesses have experienced the start up/failure process within the mall. The location is so huge you have to buy a GPS at one of the few electronics stores just to get around. People don't really have a desire to go to this area as often as they did in the past. In a down economy, the Frankenmuth restaurants of note continue to jack their prices up and people don't want to drop $25-30 on dinner per person anymore. They log onto corporate websites/Amazon/etc and find the same kind of deals they can get in these Prime "outlet" stores in Birch Run. So..they just stop heading up. No foot traffic = no sales = closing. The cycle continues. If Prime could do someone to lure more people into the area, I would imagine they could become a more interesting stop for Michiganians headed on their way "up north." Until then the Prime Outlets will continue to be a desolate wasteland full of kitchen gadget stores and people that love 5 pound BLT sandwiches. read more

I seem to always liken malls to malls in California...well heck I live there. So this one I liken to Gilroy Outlets in California. We were going to get some chicken and do the whole Bronner's experience with my family so we first get our stomachs ready for the all you can eat chicken fest at the mall. The outlets are spread out so we only partook in the Nike section since it's a tradition in our family to always start at the Nike store at outlet malls. The usual selection and my brother was able to get shoes for his Nike+ Ipod running thing we bought him a year ago. I bought my mom shoes at Nine West which were $20 on the box but apparently all the clearance was $15 which was AWESOME. Lots of stores but it was so cold that we only stuck to one part and headed to eat dinner right afterwards. Too bad the place wasn't indoors! read more

Birch Run Premium Outlets feels outdated. They do have a few good stores but the general feeling is it hasn't been updated in 20 years. When they built the outlets people from the Detroit area came in droves to check out all the stores and do their holiday shopping. Now that most of the stores can be found in the Metro Detroit area and many things online the thrill of outlet shopping has died down. I didn't find any spectacular deals, and other than just killing a few hours on my way up north, I wouldn't come out of my way to shop here. read more

I really wish they had more stores that were interesting but if you're up for a day of outdoor shopping it's not a bad place to be. The north face outlet is great for us who do not wanna pay full price for warm items and Columbia is great when you catch them right. Watch those deals and you'll get out with great products cheap. read more

It's been awhile since I took the grande tour of all the shops and I must say it's not all that. A majority of outlets try to come across as a place to get deals, but this is far from the truth with this place. There are some deals in some shops however they are the outdated clothing line from last season, which you can get a deal like that at TJ Maxx or other discount clothing stores. If you want to waste a day just browsing and fighting through the crowds of people, then this is the place to be, otherwise just go to your local mall to get the real deals! read more

I seem to recall this place being better, as in "more better deals". Now it seems like a lot of the stores are just selling stuff at regular prices instead of outlet prices. I suspect part of it may be the disintermediating and playground leveling effects of the Internet so companies have a tighter prices range - retail prices are lower and discount prices are higher. There is less room for huge markups and less reason to give huge markdowns. Maybe outlet malls will eventually go the way of Yellow Pages and pay phones. Never say never. read more

I was happy with experience here. I got good deals at Banana Republic and American Eagle. The layout of the mall was a bit awkward, especially compared to other outlets I've been to. There are not many food options. It is not a 'pretty' outlet mall by any means. I wouldn't make this a destination but if you are nearby, check it out. read more

I'm one of the lucky ones to live closer to this great outlet mall, I go because I find great deals! Love Pottery Barn, for those who don't know, half of it is Williams Sonoma where kitchen choices abound! Nike has gotten so busy with resellers forget finding shoes in my size let alone great deals. Lenox like so many other stores was hit hard by C-19 that they will be gone forever. Wish more people would go to stores vs online because the malls are shrinking! There still are plenty of great stores though like Yankee candle, Coach, Clark's shoes, some kitchen stores. Michael Kors store was not impressed with, very small and almost no clothing, more a bag store. Columbia store in my opinion (been going there for 17 years) changed when they expanded, the super great deals disappeared. In all fairness the last couple years I quit going and get the coats cheaper online. I also like the luggage store where I recently purchase several pieces. Off to get ready for another quick trip to see Lenox one last time before they close for good, will miss it! read more

I went to Alfred Dunner a week ago and bought a pair of pants. I got them home and washed them and they shrunk. I went to take them back and the sales clerk told me that "since I washed them, we cannot take them back." Excuse me, I always wash whatever clothing I buy from a store before wearing it as I don't know how many people before me have tried them on. I think Alfred Dunner needs to change that policy. Maybe they are the one of the causes for disease running rampant. Anyhow, I have bought my LAST piece of clothing from Alfred Dunner. I did not get my money back and I left the pants there. They will probably wash them and resell them. read more

I've gone from needing a whole day at the Outlets to being able to knock them out in a couple of hours. There is a wide variety of stores and if you need to go in all of them, I would plan on a full day here. If you are a more selective shopper, get a map and plan out how you want to attack these stores. They aren't grouped together by any theme - so plan on moving the car a lot as you go from section to section. In regards to the Outlet stores themselves, I have always been able to find sales. I usually try to coincide my trip with a national holiday (Columbus Day, Memorial Day, etc) which leads to more sales. The best is the Bath & Body Works outlet - only one I know of in the area and they accept the normal BBW coupons! read more

There are a few things to note about Premium Outlets. First, just because it's an outlet mall doesn't mean everything here is a bargain, because it isn't. More than a few of the stores actually jack up the retail/MSRP on their items and then slightly discount them for the outlet shops. Others strictly sell what is considered "outlet" quality merchandise for these stores, meaning items manufactured solely for the purpose of selling at a discount outlet store, while some retailers occasionally sell items from the previous seasons that can't be sold otherwise. Second, the parking situation can get dicey when it's busy on the weekends, so try for mid-week after work. As for the best spots, they're usually found around the back perimeter of the mall. Third, be prepared to spend more than you probably anticipated because budgets tend to go out of the window when shopping here. You will no doubt find some can't live without item that you weren't planning on purchasing. Don't feel too bad about it, though, because it happens to the best of us. It's akin to cheating on your diet when you throw all caution and calories to the wind. Just consider that can't live without item your splurge and prepare some sort of shopping spree "slush fund" in advance. As for the mall itself, it's not exactly quite as nice as it was, say 5-6 years ago, but it will more than suffice to quell your inner shopaholic. Oh, I remember when they had the Borders Books and Music outlet store out here, as well as Williams-Sonoma. Now, those were great stores with tremendous deals. Among the best retailers are (and therefore, the best bargains to be had) are the Bath and Body Works, Coach, Lenox, Harry and David, Lindt, Naturalizer, Easy Spirit, Banana Republic, J Crew, Estee Lauder, Old Navy, Brooks Brothers, Le Crueset, DFC (aka the Lancome cosmetics outlet), The Gap, and occasionally Pottery Barn. While I really like the Ralph Lauren/POLO store, the selection is super limited and the prices are not discounted all that much. Pottery Barn's best deals are on housewares, particularly glassware and serve ware for entertaining. Their prices on bedding, towels and furniture are sometimes on the higher end, so you really have to dig around for the best deals. Ann Taylor and BCBG outlets are similarly priced to their full-price counterparts, so I don't see where the great bargains are. Bath and Body Works routinely features huge stock up sales with items selling for $2.99 apiece or bath products, candles and and lip care marked down to 75% off. Coach has amazing deals on deeply discounted handbags, wallets and accessories and will often offer additional 20% coupons to customers when walking in the door. I tend to buy most of my handbags from Coach, so having a Coach outlet nearby is a real plus. As for DFC, their markdowns on Lancome cosmetics and skincare are huge and I routinely stock up on my favorite shade of Lancome lipstick whenever I'm at the outlets. Seriously, paying $6 for the same lipstick that retails for $30 at Macy's is the best bargain yet! As for the restrooms, there could be more, and the walk might get to you after awhile, but everyone moves their car from one end of the mall to other while shopping, anyway. When it comes to dining options, there's a variety of fast food type establishments surrounding the outlet mall, but your best bet is probably UNO if you're in the frame of mind to want a sit down meal, but be prepared for the long wait. read more

While some reviewers have questioned the bargains that are available at this outlet, coming from Canada I can tell you that we save significant amounts of money on our children's clothing by shopping here. There is a good variety of stores and while some change from visit to visit, our "must stops" have always been there for us. The one downside, as mentioned, is the inconvenient design of the outlets. There is no convenient way to park and walk for the day: you instead end up driving from pod to pod, some of which have no or very few stores of interest. Also, the outlet lacks a variety of eating options: you have your string of fast food chains (A&W, Wendy's, Bob Evans, Uno Chicago Pizza), but it could definitely benefit from both healthier options, and perhaps also a food court (which I realize doesn't tend to be healthier). read more

We haven't been to any outlet malls lately as we haven't really found a lot of good deals. To my surprise, they really have amazing deals here compared to the outlet mall where I used to go. With the exception of under armor idk what they've been smoking but they still have mall prices on some of their clearance items "UNLESS" someone forgot to do their job and place the mark down stickers on them lol. read more

This place is fun to go and shop and Im not taking anything away from that but things have changed from the past. The stores have started to make a line of clothing for the outlets specifically. Just be carful what stores you buy from because you can singnifaclly see the quality is not the same from retailers regular stores. You still can waste a day shopping and trying to find some fantastic deals. I sometimes imagine I'm on a treasure hunt trying to find the lucky spot. When your there it's always a surprise sometimes your leaving with bags full, sometimes you strike out. If you decide to go just remember that it is a day of searching instead of sure bets. read more

This outlet location has just about everything we ever are looking for and more. They have an AE, Columbia, Bath&Body Works, Pepperidge Farm, and Old Navy, as well as an Uno's Pizza place... these are our favorites and go-tos every time we are in the area. We stop here before making our way over to Bronners & The Bavarian Inn Restaurant to complete our Frankenmuth/Birch Run experience. Make sure to head to the customer service center before adventuring out to the shops for a coupon book - AAA and military receive one free, otherwise they are $5 but can get you substantial savings on top of the outlet prices. The customer service center is surprising large with lots of seating and TVs, clean bathrooms and A/C if there is anyone with you that would prefer to lounge while you shop. read more

J. Crew, Kate Spade, Nike, H&M, PacSun, Banana Republic and THE NORTH FACE.... so many amazing stores makes this outlet completely worth the drive! We were coming in from Grand Rapids back to Metro Detroit and figured it's been a while since we've gone to Birch Run, why not make a pit stop?! And so glad we did! The North Face had a huge sale and my Husband and I bought three coats combined for under 200$. I also found and bought the Kate Spade purse I've been looking at for months, but haven't been able to find anywhere. And of course it was sale-on-top-of-glorious-sale. The staff was so nice here and very accommodating. And it was such a nice day out when my Husband and I went here, but I can't imagine shopping an outdoor mall in the winter. read more

After being down for a few years, this outlet mall is having a nice revival. The place has been cleaned up a little and many new stores have been added. My favorite thing though, is that the mall is busy, but not over crowded. It is easy to get around and find your special deals. Definitely stop in and shop!! read more

Thought this place was all right it's not as great as we thought it would be. The northface store had a line to get in that was about one hour long and they didn't really have much inside. The other stores were decent overall it's a nice place to walk around on a warm day but not in the cold. I like the polo store there it's pretty decent. read more

Took a day trip here . Very nice up kept outlets. Really enjoyed the variety of stores! Nike, zumiez, rue 21 (the ones near me all closed), bath and body works, north face, under armour. The parking was nice but again I went on a Monday. Nice to know I can stock up on nice winter coats now too! (North face). I can say I enjoy great lakes better only because of forever, h&m,and charming Charlie. I will definitely be returning! Found a lot of great deals. read more

I love shopping here. Best shopping area in the state of Michigan. They have amazing deals at some of the stores I really like, i.e. Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Calvin Klein. They recently added a Lacoste and a Loft, which I love. The coupons they give out are awesome, and the restrooms are clean and easily accessible. I wish they had a Puma outlet, a cole haan outlet, and more eating options. But overall, I love shopping here and always score some amazing finds. read more

Good place to stop if you're in the area. You do need to park in one parking lot, then shop around, the drive to the next parking area, and shop around etc. Unless you want to walk the whole place, but it's in sections, so easier to move the car every once in a while. If you go to Frankenmuth, stop here. You probably won't find any TERRIFIC deals, but if you're in a shopping mood, it's a nice walk around. There are restaurants nearby, and bathrooms in every section. read more

Good location but can get packed fast. They have great stores that offer good deals. It is very large and some stores are repeated. Hard to walk the entire place. Advice have a plan before you go as to what shops you want to go to then you can park accordingly. read more

I am from Ontario Canada, and my wife and I found there were very good deals on shoes. For a canadian there were many good deals although we found the layout of stores too spread out for walking. My wife bought 2 pairs of shoes that were like 70% off the retail value.Even without the discount they were inexpensive in price. We ate at Tonys restaurant and could not believe the amount of bacon lol.Thanks Tony's for the experience. read more
