Let me first start off by saying I'm so glad I discovered this place. Being a college student/grad funds tend to get low, and this place can help put easy money in your hands. If it is your first time you will need 1. Your ID 2. Social Security Card 3. A jacket (they keep that place freezing). Get there early because they do not allow first timers to make an appointment. Also plan to be there for 3-4 hours...sometimes longer than that. When you do become a return donor MAKE AN APPOINTMENT!!! For the most part the staff is pretty nice. They're very helpful and pleasant...EXCEPT this one lady who is usually at the sign in area. She always seem to be having a bad day. I guess I would be the same if I had to deal with some of the characters that come into that place. I suggest bringing headphones or a book. They play some pretty good movies at times, but it's hard to watch when some of the people are being loud and rude. I've seen some things happen in there. Thankfully the staff is on it, and will remove anyone who they feel are causing trouble. If you're a student the first two times they give you $60 each donation, then it goes down to $50 the next 3rd and 4th times. After that it goes to $20 the first day of the week, and $30 if you go a second time that week. Some weeks they will give you an extra $10 on the second visit. Make sure you drinks lots of water and eat a real good meal. Don't try to do too much afterwards. I thought I could go shopping right after, but my body thought otherwise, and I fainted in the store. Luckily for me there was a nurse shopping, and she tended to me. Overall I like it, and truly appreciate that place. read more

Honestly, I had the wrong donation center when I walked in. The person behind the counter was abrupt, snide, and rude. While trying to figure out what app I had or how I went wrong, she informed me they stopped taking new donors (around 10:30am) and I would have to come back tomorrow. One of the other workers popped his head around the wall after hearing about the app (CSL) and let me know that the center was over on S. Monroe not too far away and that was probably where I meant to be. I thanked him and started to head for the door. Ms. Receptionist-with-attitude responded by telling me that I needed to head over there and try to figure out my appointments and where they were. I'm glad there's another donation center as the people that work at this one (excluding the young man that ACTUALLY helped) seem to just want people in and out and have no idea how to talk to people, lost or otherwise. Here's hoping the wonderful young man finds a better class of people to work around and the snide counter woman has the day she deserves. read more

Not a bad place, not in the greatest area but the staff are kind and they pay the most out of all the other plasma places in Tallahassee ( after promos ) I was getting $500/ month for going 8 times a month ($400 for 1st 4 times is their new patient promo ) if you're gonna sell your blood - do it here ! read more

yet again this place has shown me that they can be worst than the last ruins that i was here. sitting here for two hours is ridiculous when there as days when they have all the sections open and i'm in and out in less than an hour. instead of management i mint out to help speed up the process, there just walking in circles and not helping anything. this will be my last to be here, i will not come back to these people who just seem to get worse and worse and worse and worse. read more

For what it is I think it's a good place. Some sketchy people come in but there's security and no one ever misbehaves or makes a scene. The process took about 3 hours the first time because there's paper work and health assessment but after that it's about 40 minutes to an hour and a half. Staff is professional. Everything looks clean. Pay is good with incentives to come back within a week. I have no experienced anything bad health wise apart from being a little weak after. Biomat is such an interesting place. You compensated for doing something to better help people. It's nice. This particular place is pretty nice. There are a couple of people who have some bad attitudes, but overall I had a great experience. My husband's experience was even quicker because he didn't have as many hiccups in the road as I did. Krista and Mara really deserve a shout out. I hope I spelled those correctly. Krista was so kind and made me feel so comfortable and eased my anxiety. She went out of the way to make sure I was happy and it showed. I bonded well with her and my husband had to see her next and loved her just as much. I would come here just to have causal conversation with her if I could. She is a people person for sure. Mara is a great phlebotomist. They were originally worried because I didn't have a second vein they could use if something was to happen and that would set me back, but she had confidence in her abilities and the showed off for sure. She was kind and passionate and answered all my questions. Her stick was great too. Just a little pinch, so I was happy as can be. I will definitely request her from now on. These two made lasting impressions on me and I look forward to donating with Biomat from here on out. read more

Tallahassee, FL location. I am not sure how many donations I gave here, but almost every time something bad happened. One time they stuck the needle in wrong and my whole hand went numb. I couldn't even squeeze the ball. Another time I was waiting to be called back and I had a pain in my stomach, so I figured I should go to the restroom before having to lay in a chair for 45 minutes. I had only been in the bathroom a few minutes when someone came in. They stood up on the toilet and looked at me violating my privacy. I started screaming at this woman who stated she wanted toilet paper. She told the staff she thought I needed help. I don't know of a single person that would stand on a toilet rather than reach under the stall to ask for toilet paper. I have no idea why she thought I needed help because she never said a word or said hello or anything. She looked like she was strung out on something. I suffer from multiple mental illnesses including PTSD and this freaked me out so bad that I was inconsolable. I told the staff to take me off the list and ran out in tears. I didn't go back for months because I was so humiliated, but since I had filed for disability and had no income, I decided to give it another try. I had to fill out all the paperwork again. When I first got there, they asked for my driver's license, then gave me all the paperwork to fill out. I spent about an hour filling it out then the nurse called me back. She stated she had seen my medical marijuana card. I didn't recall reading anywhere that you couldn't have a card and still donate so I asked why that was a problem. She stated she saw the card and had a "Moral Dilemma". Ummm so why did you let me spend an hour filling out the paperwork if you knew you were going to call me back and tell me I couldn't donate? She also stated I had not disclosed the card to them on the medications list. I told her that I had gotten it after my first visit with them because a friend suggested it might help with my anxiety and chronic insomnia and I didn't really think about it being a medication. I explained that I was unemployed, had filed for disability and had no income. I also explained that I had lost my mom and my job within months of each other and suffered from depression. She didn't care. I left there bawling and was not allowed to donate. A good portion of the people that come in there look like they are on something, but she had a moral dilemma with me? I am clean, dress nice, polite and don't cause problems. I called corporate and they said they would have the manager from that center call me, which she did. We discussed at length what happened, and she said if she had to fire the nurse, she would. I told her I didn't want to see anyone fired, but I should be allowed to donate plasma because I didn't know I was supposed to tell them. She stated the nurse wasn't there that day and she would call me back in a day or two. I waited 7 days and called her back. At first, she acted like she didn't remember the conversation, then she said I will go ask her. She came back and told me that in order to donate plasma again I would have to get bloodwork done showing no THC in my system and a note from my doctor stating I did not use the marijuana. WHAT? You want an unemployed person to go pay all that money so they can donate plasma to save lives? There's not one article anywhere that states you can't have a medical marijuana card and donate plasma. I would NEVER use it before a donation. Her moral dilemma should have been that by denying me to donate plasma, she not only could have killed someone from not having the life-saving plasma, but also kept me from having money to buy food and pay my bills. What kind of a person does that? Also, what did she tell the manager to make them completely change how they were going to handle the situation? I was deferred several times for a high pulse, and I now know it was because of the way they treated me in there. I go to another place to donate now and don't have a problem with my pulse. I have to drive twice as far, wait twice as long and get paid less, BUT they treat you like a human being and you are not illegally discriminated against. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else where your privacy is not violated, and you are not discriminated against. I was going to get a lawyer, but then I realized they just aren't worth anymore of my time. I am still saving lives and I don't get treated awful for doing it. read more

I've been going to Biomat for about 4 months now and have donated roughly 11-12 times. For a little bit of time and slight discomfort, they make the experience very rewarding. The financial compensation is always pretty good (much better however the first 4 times you donate) and the staff is always kind, quick and accountable. I've only had slight problems on few occasions, and those are mostly from equipment slightly malfunctioning (which doesn't harm me in any way, but just delays the process). They recently installed TV's too, making the donation process less boring and making time go by quicker. Overall, Biomat is a great way to get quick $, with minimal effort put in place. Fail... Epic fail... So slow, so much attitude, poor blood testing with refusal to retest... Apparently their people and machines are "perfect" no matter what... This place needs to be completely overhauled. read more

Terrible customer service! It seems like that's a trend in Tallahassee but these people forget that their job is to deal with the public and their actions will determine whether someone donates plasma to save a life or not. I will not go back there or any other Biomat USA locations because apparently the person who suggested I'd go has also had a bad experience in a different city. I called to ask what are some things that could not permit someone to donate plasma and they said it's HIPPA violation over the phone. I go in person to ask and the lady answers "Oh I don't know! There are many things but that's what the paperwork is for". I did not bring my social security card so I allowed them to run my credit which as it's known to everyone, that brings your credit down and I have great credit at 21 years old. That already started my experience there with a sour taste in my mouth and then I'm asked questions which I answered all truthfully. I couldn't remember when was the last time I had a piercing re-pierced because it's a piercing I've already had and had to fix because it was done incorrectly. I communicated that even before I was questioned. Then, since I realized that might've been done less than 12 months, the lady miscommunicated with me that she could check the date and I speak up and say to verify my last tattoo session since I honestly cannot remember. The reason why I cannot remember is because I've been working on my sleeve since 2017 and then she stops and said "I can't check the date, I was just checking the sterilization of your tattoo shop" or something along those lines. She then continued to say that now it just looks bad and that I seem unreliable because those are dates I should remember since it was wasn't that long ago. I am sorry that piercings and tattoos are the least of my worries in my life and I don't go posting my business on social media to get attention. I even told her I would call the location to verify those dates and she said that it did not matter since I just seemed unreliable and it just did not look good. Excuse me? How rude can you be?! I am a college student getting an education who wanted to get some fast cash for the holidays and at the same time save a life and I was insulted this way. I have never felt so offended in my life because she made it seem like I could've lied about everything else even though I was trying my best to remember...which is why I was being honest by speaking up and willing to call my tattoo location which is well known. This lady even knew the location when I mentioned it and it's not even here in Tallahassee. I don't like to write on yelp but this needed to be said. The people in there were not kind at all and that lady in the end definitely ruined it for me and said I would be deferred. You want more donators? Please treat your customers with more respect because we are willing to put ourselves in an uncomfortable situation for hours to help others. Choose a different profession because as a fellow healthcare member, I know how to treat people and we are taught to not generalize how we treat our clients. Unprofessional to say the least. Employees let their friends cut line. I watched 5 people go before my name, even though I asked about it. They told me I was next 3 separate times, I asked why I was being skipped. I'm been here since 11am and I have yet to be seen, its 2:20pm. After they see me it will be another 45mins to an hour to donate. Instead of working the hang out in the hall way talking. Today I listened to them discuss love and hip hop with each other instead of running screenings. Currently I'm in the facility and they are screaming across the donation center their plans of visiting the fair. One of the employees is literally standing next to me, giving her phone number out to a donator, even though I'm still waiting to be helped. I can't believe I let myself be a part of something so terrible. They don't treat this place as a medical facility, it's literally a hangout spot to loudly laugh and gossip. This location needs SIGNIFICANT REFORM. read more
