'Inner-Alster' is the smaller part of a lake that defines the heart of Hamburg. Beyond two bridges - one named in honour of president Kennedy - is the Outer-Alster, a lake of 1,2 square miles. A net of more than 120 miles of waterways meanders through the city. In spring it is unbelievably beautiful to canooe this wonderworld. Blossoming trees and dedicately tended gardens border the rivers and creeks, the canals and cul-de-sacs. More than 50 kinds of birds build nests and rise their offspring between low hanging branches, dusted by pollen from countless bushes and trees. Four weeks ago the swans were freed again - after incarnation for the winter time. Never before they could court as undisturbed as 2020. read more

Jetzt im Herbst ist ein Blick vom Jungfernstieg auf die Alster schöner denn je. Heine hat in seinen jungen Jahren oft im Pavillon gesessen, der damals noch anders aussah. Und wahrscheinlich hat der Schwerenöter weniger auf die Alster als auf den Jungfernstieg gesehen, auf dem junge Damen flanierten. Tatsächlich war das Theater-Viertel - am heutigen Gänsemarkt - mit dem dazugehörigen Straßenstrich - nur einen Steinwurf entfernt. Wenn man heute im ALEX am Jungfernstieg sitzt, kann man erahnen, wie romantische Gefühle aufkommen können. Wenn man ein Schiff wie die St. Georg betritt, fühlt man sich ein bisschen zurückversetzt in das 19. Jahrhundert. Heine hätte Dampfschiffe gemocht. read more

The Binnenalster is a famous lake in the center of Hamburg. On one side of the Binnenalster you will find the Jungfernstieg, i.e. the most famous street in Hamburg which is also well known by lots of people in the whole country. At the same side of the Binnenalster (Jungfernstieg) you may have a coffee at the Alex if you have left enough time to do so. The café is very special and you lots of young people and people of the middle age are spending their time here. On the same side you will find the pedestrian zone, only few "meters" away from the Binnenalter. I you would like to make a boat trip you may do so at the same side of this lake. Here boats start to the Außenalster. The boats stop every few hundred meters to take new passengers. You can leave the boat at each stop you like. On the left side you will see the famous Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten and on the right side you will be pleased to look at the Hotel Atlantic Kempinski. Both hotels are very, very noble. read more

The binnenalster is the 'small' alster which extends from Jungfernstieg to the kennedy bridge. I love to sit at the steps on jungfernsiteg and just stare at the Alster. There isn't much to see, but its so peaceful especially by night. there are a lot of ducks you can feed. and there's a fountain in the middle of the lake. there are boats there that you can take for a ride along the alster. I never did that, not sure what their itinerary is. so get yourself an ice cream/burger/pizza/juice/beer and sit there by the water feeding the ducks... read more

I guess one of the most beautiful spots of Hamburg. If it is for a drink or just walking around... this spots keeps on getting to you, over and over again. read more

It's cool to have a lake in the middle of town and Hamburg has two (well, kind of). It's a great place to sit in summer and always fun to walk around. It always makes me feel better seeing it. read more

Spending a Sunday after walking around Außenalster was the perfect remedy for jet lag. The lake is…read moresurrounded by beautiful scenes in the distance and up close. The swans and ducks are magnificent. There is no shortage of sailboats. Trees and flowers are abundant. The architectural diversity is impressive including spectacular residences and consulate buidlings. The trails are shaded about half of the distance which helps on a hot day. There are plenty of scenic resting spots and ice cream vendors along the way. I enjoyed the people watching and was impressed by things I'd never seen live before. One man had his wheel chair rigged with a front wheel and handle bars so that he could "arm pedal" it along side his family. It was very touching to see them ride together. Surrounding the lake, there are plenty of restaurants where you can quench your thirst. I topped off my mile walk with a cold heifeweizen and hearty Germany meal. For anyone visiting Hamburg who likes to walk or cycle, this is a great place to spend a full morning or afternoon.

I have reduced my rating by one star because the places for a potential barbeque are very small and possibilities to clean up the charcoal are very rare in comparision to the Stadtpark.

Ein wahres Stück - ja, Aushängeschild - der Stadt Hamburg ist die Binnenalster. Es zieht mich oft hierhin, weil ich sehr gerne hier spazieren gehe, mir das Treiben der Menschen ansehe, auch mal gerne Richtung City ausweiche, aber dann wieder hierhin zurückkehre, um Entspannung zu finden. Man fühlt sich sehr naturnah und es ist rundum erholsam. Tradition, Geschichte und Gegenwart ziehen hier ihre Linien - Man fühlt sich einfach wohl. read more

Also, ich bin ein Neuzugereister. Hier habe ich mir zur Aufgabe gemacht, erst einmal die wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten kennen zu lernen und habe direkt mit einem ersten Anlaufpunkt einen Volltreffer gelandet. Einfach nur Geil. Wenn man von Weltstadt reden kann, find ich dass Hamburg definitiv (neben Berlin) genannt werden muss. Also, an alle Neulinge hin zur Binnenalster und (mit ein wenig Wetterglück) einfach nur geniessen. read more

Im Sommer gibt es nichts Schöneres als sich hier mit einer Kugel Eis hinzusetzen und zu entspannen. Wer will, kann sich mit Freunden ein Treetboot mieten, ich habs gemacht und kann nur sagen, dass es unheimlich viel Spaß bringt. Leider hat im Sommer jeder dieselbe Idee, nämlich auf in die Stadt, deshalb ist es dort auch ziemlich voll. Wer also kein Problem mit großen Menschnmassen hat, der wird es hier lieben. read more

Zu der Alster kann man nicht so viel schreiben bei den ganzen Bewertungen die es hier schon gibt. Ich kann nur sagen das die Alster wirklich eine der schönsten Sehenswürdigkeiten Hamburgs ist und das es sich mal lohnt hier hin zugehen weil man immer eine wunderbare Aussicht aber am besten sollte das Wetter auch stimmen. read more

Achja die schöne Binnenalster. Ich liebe es hier Spaziergänge zu machen und besonders im Herbst bei schöner Luft auf einer Bank am Ufer zu sitzen. Ich habe hier mittlerweile meine Stammbank von der man alles sehen kann und einfach froh ist in Hamburg zu wohnen. Einer von vielen tollen Plätzen. read more

Ein sehr schöner Platz um im Sommer zeit draußen zu verbringen. Rund um die Alster gibt es Einkausläden und Restaurants bis zum geht nicht mehr. Die Aussicht ist auch einfach nur herlich und man kann auch stets mit den Booten fahren um die Aussicht noch mehr genießen zu können. read more

Sich im Sonner an die Binnenalster zu setzen und dabei ein leckeres Eis zu essen ist einfach super schön. Man hat einen super eindrucksvollen Blick auf die Alsterfontäne. Leider sammelt sich an den Treppen immer mehr Müll an. read more

Ach die gute alte Binnenalster hier kann man immer schön Joggen gehen oder erstmal in die Läden gehen und die die Alster verteilt sind. Die Alster ist einfach nur ein Wahrzeichen von Hamburg die immer schön zu betrachten ist. read more

Die Alster ist schon was schönes. Vorallem im Sommer ist es einfach entspannt sich es hier gemütlich zu machen. Da die Alster genau in der Stadt ist, lässt sich der Alster besuch natürlich gut mit etwas Shopping verbinden. read more

Die Alster ist wirklich ein Platz den ich immer vermisse wenn ich grade mal nicht in Hamburg bin. Sich hier im Sommer am Jungfernstieg hin zu setzen ist für mich purer Genuss. Immer immer wieder!!!! read more
