Unfortunately, this hotel needs a lot of work. Check-in and front desk service was very good, but…read morethe hotel conditions are abysmal.
I stayed in one of their suites that has a open area family room with pullout bed/couch. In the main sleeping room, there were two twin beds pushed together to form a queen bed. I was travelling alone and every time I rolled over, the beds would separate and I'd fall to the floor.
The bathroom was standard, but there were several broken items (sink cracks, shower handle, toilet flushing handle) along with disgusting stains on the floor and shower/bath floor. (grey & black smudge marks that wouldn't come up when scrubbed) Bed sheets were very thin. There was no air conditioner in the room and the heater would randomly come on during the night, so I would wake up sweating, have to open a window, and then re-awake to close it once it was cooler. There is a safe and refrigerator in the room, which was nice. Lastly, the walls were very thin and you could hear everything going on next door, including the TV. Very annoying.
VERY IMPORTANT: The main door to the room was difficult to close. On my first night staying here, I woke up at 4am to go to the bathroom and found that my door was OPEN! (trust me, I remember closing it) I immediately checked all my belongings to make sure nothing was taken. Turns out, someone was going room to room during the night and someone from our party (staying in another room) had their passport stolen. Obviously, security is not a priority.
The bar and restaurant were nice and wait staff was courteous. I didn't use the spa or gym, but I did see the space and it was very small. I heard that some of the machines were broken. They obviously need to maintain this property better.
There is no ATM onsite, so come prepared with Euros. I was told by the front desk staff to visit the nearby casino if I wanted an ATM. No thank you! There are no convenience offers (no shop, store, gift shop, etc...) so if you forget your toothbrush or other toiletries, you will have to go shopping outside of the hotel.
There is NOTHING within walking distance. In fact, you can't walk off property because there are very busy streets (expressways) and no safe areas for pedestrians. No markets nearby. No shopping.
Overall, I was very unimpressed with the room, cleanliness, security, and overall features & location. When I come back to Spain, there is no way I would EVER come back to the Hotel Alcora, until they do a renovation and maybe move the hotel to a better part of town.
