When I tried it on in the shop, it felt like a solid gold bracelet. It was then switched in the wrapping area and a hollow core bracelet which feels lightweight like plastic was placed in the gift box. Upon returning home, we had an appraisal in NY to our dismay. The bracelet is worth around $400 USD. We were cheated and have notified the cruise line to remove this vendor from the suggested shops to purchase from. Amy Dorfman Hollywood, Florida USA

Assured me watch was Swiss made as printed on the watch face & working well as all are cleaned & serviced. She wound it up to show me all was well. On returning to Australia a few days later, I found the time had not altered past the few minutes from winding it up in the shop. I phoned them to be told it was probably only dusty. I took it to 2 vintage watch jewellers in Melbourne & was told the mechanism was dirty, hadn't been serviced & needed new working parts. The movement was an inferior German make and only the casing was Swiss. Further phone calls & emails have been ignored. I can only assume they realise tourists have limited avenues to be refunded & choose to take advantage of us.

On the landing above is a storefront for Ceramiche Casola (the location is not listed on their website). No doubt it is active only for the tourist season. But if you happen across it, the offerings are amazing. Beautiful tables, vases, planters, all hand-painted and custom. They literally don't have "stock" items to walk away with. You can get something identical to what's shown, or change it however you'd like. We commissioned a 42" patio table, following one of the patterns shown but changing things up a bit--a little darker blue, a little lighter green, put bees where the butterflies are...and oh yeah, put our family name along the rim. The table is utterly indestructible, made from carved volcanic stone and fired at like 10k degrees. Nothing can happen to it. It was not cheap--2800 euro if I recall correctly--but that does include an iron stand for the table and shipping to the USA. We were quoted ~6 months delivery but it came in 3. The table and stand were delivered in a wooden crate with "Fragile" all over it--that's how I knew it was Italian (haha). It was exceptionally well packed. Two people highly recommended to move and place the stand and table. The stand was very beefy, definitely no corners cut. Once up it is a fabulous reminder of a great trip. It has held up to the snow and ice of NJ no problem. Since it's custom-only it takes some time, but it's time well-spent.

I was looking for a great leather briefcase during my vacation to Italy. Rome: little leather luck…read more Florence: lots of non-Italian manuf and nothing just llike I wanted. Venice: better, but no cigar. Was thinking I'd leave Italy without a bag, until I found Mary's Shop during a quick internet search on the way to Sorrento. Leather is very well made by Italians who have had this shop here for 110 years. Beautiful family, beautiful leather, BEAUTIFUL prices. The shop owner showed me a similar bag like the one I was interested in that was 14 years old. The bag's owner had run over the bag with his car and needed repairs. It was buttery and patina'd. Fantastic! My leather looks great now, but it will only get better. Not super heavy like my Saddleback Leather bags, but high quality, high stitch per inch, made in Sorrento leather. Surprisingly, after visiting over 30 leather shops in Italy (not counting the scores of stores of cheap stuff made in the Far East), I found my bag in Sorrento at Mary's Shop. For reference, the most expensive bags I considered were 690€ in Venice, 540€ in Florence. The bag I bought was just as well made and was marked at 290€, which is an absolute steal for a leather briefcase of this quality.

Actually comparing this cute little shop to James perse is a bit of an insult as this place is wayyyyyy better ! Why ?! I love the way they arranged the clothes. Linen clothes draped from winding stair cases , trees , bushes lol tutto ...Everywhere .. there were so many beautiful pieces !!! Their garments are of good quality and well made and you definitely pay a hefty price, but considering the garbage you buy for the same amount in the US..it's worth it. My only gripe about a couple of the shops is that the sales people were so aggressive! I don't know if they work on commission, but I was told a certain size was not available at any other store but when I went to one of the other stores, I had no problem finding my size. They also didn't offer to contact the other shops to see. So, my advice is to shop all four and don't succumb to the sales pressure.
