Took my daughters car in had to get an engine replaced. They put the engine in. Now I have to get fixed what they did. Items that they could have cleared up. Costing me almost as much for what they did. Instead of telling me about other issue they just slammed the engine in. Payed a lot of money for substandard service. My mom and I rented a Budget truck from here and it was not in great shape. The steering was basically 160 degrees from where it should have been, and the truck pulled pretty hard to the right at high speeds. As we were going to be on the highway for 14 hours, this wasn't exactly ideal. Though they did a great job walking us through everything, I still wasn't comfortable with this thing making it the whole way. We called and asked if we could switch trucks, but the only one they had available was too big for us to unload at our final destination. They gave us instructions on how to call Budget directly and hopefully get it sorted out. Budget eventually redirected another truck, and I'll admit I was a little crabby after learning we had to drive 30 mins back to Crestwood to return this stupid truck. But once we pulled up, we saw them inspecting this truck, fixing a broken seat belt, etc. to make sure it was ready for our trip. I got the impression that they may have had to come back in just to do that for us. They're just a rental place and it isn't like they are in charge of the Budget truck's condition, but it was really kind of them to make that extra effort as an auto shop in general (especially after we were probably pretty annoying about returning the truck in the first place). We really appreciated it and made it safe, and I'm really thankful they took the time to make sure we were happy. I think it says a lot about a person when you put in effort to help someone you don't necessarily need to help, and that certainly was the case here. read more

Let me start by saying this is the worst auto service. They deserve far less than a one star rating. I spoke to one of the owners, Bernie in reference to my 17 old year having his car serviced & how I felt he was taken advantage of throughout the 3 weeks of his car being there. Bernie stated he wasn't charged for certain things however those very items he claim no charge were found on the receipt. My son came into this establishment with one issue & left with multiple. Along with a healthy $1000 tab and yet an inoperable vehicle. Bernie told me himself as they installed the part it blew his system which he's not responsible & to replaced this will be another $900. On top of all this he has the audacity to say there's no other resolve. What type of business owner does that? Needless to say this place is trash. You can't trust someone that would misuse a child or anyone that does not know better. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about Bill's Service Center...I've been bringing my car there for the past few years, I brought my car in last week because it was acting up. It turned out to be the transmission, which totally sucked because we all know how expensive that can be to fix. Bernie the owner did a little research once he figured out what the problem was and discovered it was a issue with RAV4's that had been problematic. Bernie made a call and told Toyota and told them my car was 10,000 over warranty however my car was experiencing the recall issue that had been in place. Toyota Ended up covering the cost to fix my transmission all thanks to Bill's Service Center. He could have easily charged me $2,600 to fix my car and I would have paid it because it's my work vehicle but he was looking out for my best interest. Thank you for being so awesome! read more

We have been bringing our cars here since we moved to the area almost 5 years ago. Everything from new tires, oil changes, tire rotations and fixing my sun roof. Recently we brought my husbands car in to diagnose why the check engine light was on. Dropped off at 8am. Got to 4:30 and hadn't heard anything. We called and were told they were still diagnosing. Tuesday at 4:30 rolls around and haven't heard. We called and they told us the issue and that they had started to work on it without our permission. We only wanted the diagnoses. 3.5 days after dropping our car off & $1,600 later (majority labor alone). POOR communication as we had to continuously call and rearrange our work/car schedule for 3.5 days. When we asked if they could help lower the cost Bernie claimed they already had and when asked about the poor communication he admitted that was wrong and apologized but that was it. They have not only lost our business, but our local families as well. We are huge local business supporters but we will no longer support this local business and will go elsewhere. It is a shame because up until this costly expense that they did not ask our permission to continue to fix, we hadn't had any issues. read more

Absolutely stay away from this. Bernie is every customers worst nightmare. This guy has "ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE". I have no idea how this place is still up and running. This guy told me to leave his store... I'm coming as a CUSTOMER!!! Who says that to customers?! From the very start absolutely NO GREETING, PISSED OFF FACE. Definitely old old old school. Bernie and his team went above and beyond to make sure that the older 2003 Honda Element we purchased was in working condition even after we left the lot and the car had issues that weren't seen before he sold it to us. He resolved my concerns quickly and even went out of his way to come pick up the car from the city of Chicago to do extra repairs on it including a water pump, starter, and inspecting other areas of the car. read more

Bernie and Scott make heck of a team! Great electrical repairs! These guys saved me over $900 in repairing the audio system in my car a 2010 Lincoln MKS. Others have paid over$1500 for the repair at the dealer, and I simply refused. Bernie spent many hours of technical research and figured it out! Lincoln built a really great sound system, but it is incredibly complicated with the entire control of bluetooth and usb connectivity together with radio, CD and Satellite radio all being centered an ACM audio control module. The car is out of warranty by a multiple of the original. This electrical problem was further complicated by parts availability. Bernie did back flips to get the car fixed. Many thanks for a job well done. They also repaired my wife's 2007 BMW X5 at a significant cost savings particularly with respect to her transmission and transfer case. Warning stay away!!!!!! I will never bring my car here again!!! This place charge me over $500 to have my van fix which I paid drove off the lot and start working the next day than all of a sudden my van cut off on me on the highway 20 miles away so I call this company back to tell them they didn't fix the problem can they come tow the van back to the shop which they did. Once the van got back to the shop the told me now I need a new fuel pump which will cost me around $1,000 plus the towing fee so of course I didn't pay for it took my van to another shop and they told me there's nothing wrong with my van it's just the holes that was connected to the fuel pump was disconnected. They will tell u anything to get your money and they never find the problem I REPEAT STAY AWAY!!! read more

The team here at Bill's truly took care of me and went above and beyond to help my car be suitable to pass emissions. When my Mitsubishi Galant failed emissions, I was given some random codes from the testing center and told to head to a mechanic. I also needed my AC fixed so I figured I'd better get it all checked out at once. I had never been to this service center before, but I had received a recommendation from a trusted friend. I ended up needing a replacement for my fuel line and pump, which altogether with the diagnostics on my vehicle and the labor and parts came to about $840. Things got tricky when we had to wait for my car to run through all its internal computerized self-tests to ensure that it would pass emissions--without the car successfully running these tests, it won't pass. The car had to be driven a certain amount of times, turned on, turned off and cooled (which is difficult in 90 degree heat) to complete its self-test, so I took it home to drive it until these tests were complete. But instead of completing the self-tests without any problems, my service engine light popped back on. So I took the care back to Bill's. I live in the city so getting back and forth to the south suburbs when we only have one vehicle was continually tricky and required a lot of coordination with family and friends. That's why I truly appreciate that the team at Bill's searched to find the remaining issue, kept my vehicle, started it and drove it several times over the course of a few weeks until the car finally finished its self-tests and then they even ran it through emissions for me to ensure that it passed before they told me to come pick it up. I was really nervous to pick up my vehicle after all that because I wasn't sure what the cost would be for all that effort. But the team told me that all that they needed to replace was a fuel cap, and that since I had already paid for the diagnostics the first time around, all I owed them was $23!! This shop took good care of me and I know that their goal is truly to help anyone that comes in, not take advantage in any way. I will be telling everyone I know on the south side to head to Bill's! read more
