Fairly standard "university halls" feel to the rooms. Clean, tidy throughout. Word of caution…read morethough, if arrive on Sunday be ready to hunt out a local place to eat or as I resorted to, piecing something together from the small but we'll stocked 'tuck shop' in the reception area as the kitchen is most definitely closed.
Seems to be one of the go to hotels for oil and shipping industry types being well placed for access to the harbour and it's associated businesses. Although apparently well attended the hotel doesn't feel crowded. Friendly enough staff, however can seem to be understaffed with those there appearing to be rushed to cover all bases at once.
Over the duration of my week long stay I feel I might have made my way through the menu, for once the kitchen is open (Mon-Sat) it's worth the stay. Large, filling, well presented and balanced dishes form the basis of a short but diverse menu. I was hedging a 3 however the restaurant brings it to a 4. Only thing I'd change is the speed of service, be prepared to wait for 40 mins or more between ordering and delivery, tho drinks seem to be more than rapid, I guess sped by profit margins...
