The pieces of art are absolutely beautiful and originals. You wouldn't find the same piece ever again. Like a naughty child I wanted to take photos of everything. Unfortunately photography is not permitted in the shop so the few shots I took are from the outside. Prices are dear....but then again so is the price for paying for an original piece of art. There is a great deal of Australiana in the shop and caters for the tourist with money. There is also a large range of blown glass of many different colours. Sydney had lost one of her raddest venues and a place renowned for putting on ace performances, plays, sales, exhibitions and just about anything else you can think of. It was making way for a bakery. Now, I'm all for baked goods, but Sydney can't afford to lose little gems like this that add something irreplaceable to the fabric of this damned fine city. Huzzah, then, that District 01 has risen - phoenix-like! - from the ashes of corporate suckitude and is reincarnated in Randle Lane, a small, clean alleyway near Central Station and the place is cooler than ever. HUZZAH I SAY. I attended the relaunch party last night and while there were canapes and live tunes and drinks what I really got excited about was the venue: a white-walled space ready to be transformed into whatever, whenever. A blank canvas waiting for imagination to recreate it into anything the user desires. Light globes hang low from the ceiling. Entry is up the stairs of a repurposed loading dock. And . . . there's just something about partying in a secret alleyway that makes me feel cooler than I probably (er, actually) am.

Down a little alleyway off a quiet street, there's a set of door with a sign on them that reads "District 01". Inside is a converted warehouse with white floors, walls and ceiling and a few stacks of white pallets. I was here for a Yelp event so the projector was beaming District 01 offers with intermittent Yelp logos. The night was fairly warm and humid but the venue remained cool enough even though it was packed with people. This is defo worth keeping in mind if you're an event coordinator/PR/marketing peep looking for cool, new venues for events.

Located in the middle of the city, within walking distance. You are allowed to take photos here, avoid the flash. Came here to see their amazing European art collection. Claude Monet's Port Goulphar 1887, beautiful color with detailed brushstrokes. One of my favorite paintings. Vincent Van Gogh's hand of a peasant 1884 was great, lot's of people checking this one out. Another must see was Pablo Picasso's reclining women on a couch 1939. You can get lost in his paintings. I made sure to take time to walk through the Australian art section. I enjoyed seeing the paintings on the animal hides and showcasing so much history. Lot's of talented local artists.

With a focus on supporting emerging, interesting and challenging artists, the gallery aims to not only display thought-provoking work but also challenge the currently limited general view of Aboriginal art. Housed in the old Vintage Glamour spot, just before Enmore Park, it's an unusually-shaped space, which seems to reflect its ethos rather perfectly. The gallery opened with the 'Kindling' exhibition, which was a really diverse but beautiful collection of work from cardboard animal skulls to bright paintings to paper installations. Packed with punters, it gave a pretty good indication of the potential this place has. Melbourne street and graffiti artist Phibs also displayed his works here through September, which goes to show the gallery's unique bent. There are also plans in the works for the gallery to host special nights like spoken word and music events.

There is also a gift shop telling unique items and a teahouse on the main floor. Admission is free and they have free daily tours which may highlight several artworks and the artists behind them. We had stumbled upon White Rabbit Gallery while trying to find things to do in Sydney. We stopped by White Rabbit Gallery on a Sat morning. We ended up doing the free tour (about 30 min long) once we arrived as staff had mentioned this to us when we arrived. Staff explained to us the gallery and the types of artwork that they had on display, noting that the exhibits change every few months. She took us around several artworks and told us about the story behind the works and the artists, which was pretty interesting. The art itself was pretty cool - quite unique. Each artist we saw had a statement and a story behind why they decided to create such works. We definitely enjoyed our time at White Rabbit Gallery and would highly recommend if it you are in Sydney!

There are a range of art styles displayed and the large glass windows are inviting and give you a sneak peak of what is inside. As the gallery is situated on the main road in Kings Cross (near the large Coca Cola billboard), drivers can get a glimpse at the wonderful art. The guides and assistants at the gallery are very friendly and are not pretentious or intimidating. There is plenty of parking available- a rare treat in the city these days! The exhibitions are well put together and there is plenty of space to walk. Unfortunately, the museum is closed on Sunday and Monday, which is hugely inconvenient for those who enjoy art viewing on a Sunday afternoon.

There are seats scattered around the gallery so that you can sit and appreciate each piece for as long as you desire. You can buy pieces and what I love is the galleries policy on allowing you to take works home for the evening to see if they 'fit' in your home. Aptly named the gallery is on the corner of a Military Road u turn point so it's a bit of dodge the traffic hop skip and jump to the island-like building.

One of the few galleries around is Traffic Jam Galleries. About each month they have a new show, usually for 2 artists at the same time, often 1 painter and 1 sculptor. I often head to the openings, which you can get notified of by their newsletter, which are either on a Thursday evening or Saturday afternoon. I particularly loved the recent exhibit by Katherine Wood, a predominantly landscape painter originally from South Africa, and would have loved to buy one of her works, if I was more cashed up. Recommended!
