We stopped here after a long walk for drinks and ending up finding a purchasing a lot of interesting things! Chocolate selection is very very good! We were able to find some items/greater selection than other stores we visited. There are self service check stands! Wine selection seems to be greater than other similar stores. Lots of snacks. A pretty great grocer on the ground floor of a building that overlooks the river in the old town part of Salzburg. This place has cool vaulted ceilings, and lots of local stuff to get! This grocer isn't like a real typical grocer, in that it has a lot of touristy stuff to get, so many varieties of Mozart Balls and liquors. The beer supply here was a bit lacking, but they had a few cold ones available on the cheap. The food selection goes towards the luxury way instead of cheap stuff. But the selection was great, with a deli and a wine part. They had premade foods and snacks available. The aisles were pretty narrow, and the merchandise was stacked to the low ceilings, but the place was well lit. The lines were long, but they moved quickly through a self-checkout system. Billa is my go to when I need to buy food! Its not that cheep though. However the service is pretty good and the people help you around if you need to find something. The store is quite filled on Sunday from 4-6 so don't come there if your in a rush somewhere. read more

We had just been to Mirabell gardens, and we were walking over the pedestrian bridge back to the old town, and we ran directly into this place. We went in, and they have a bakery, deli, fruit, wine, and most anything you need. Me and my wife divided a slice of cheesecake, that was very good, and we grabbed a coke. My daughter grabbed a pretzel "bun", and it was good. If you don't want to drop a lot of cash, this is a great place to stop. read more

This is a nice and clean grocery store comparable to CVS or 7-11 in the USA. It is well lit, clean and staffed with friendly employees. This was especially helpful for replenishing travel supplies: bottled water, tissues, etc. Salzburg is popular for Mozart chocolates -- you can get those here at lower prices. read more

This is a nice full service supermarket that has everything you need from a selection of wines, water, soft drinks, deli/meat, breads, desserts, snacks, premade food/salads, fresh fruit, produce to toiletries. But this location gets so crowded it is impossible to move around without constantly getting bumped into or vice versa!! The line was very long to checkout but moved fast but certainly was worth the aggravation buying my bottled water here instead of paying €3.00+ elsewhere. You'll find several locations throughout Salzburg. They do close early especially on the weekend; Saturdays its at 6pm and Sunday at 3pm. read more

conveniently stumbled upon this grocery store while looking for something to drink. now, you can go and pay 3 euros at a cafe for bottled water, soda, tea, whatnot.. OR you can go to a supermarket and get a liter-sized bottle for under a euro. yea, exactly. bought myself the biggest bottle of non-sparkling water i could find and some fruit + yogurt + bread for breakfast and it only came out to about 2 euros. this is how i was able to travel to 8 cities in 2 weeks for under $2000USD, airfare included. their fruit and produce section is rather small, but what they had looked fresh. there's rows and rows of packaged and boxed goods, a large bread and beverage section, and a smaller meat section. checkout lines were long, but moved very fast. this is because europe is awesome. after you pay, you move to the end of the table where you can bag your items. after your items are bagged, you can move all your bags to a separate counter where you can then put away your wallet and organize your things before you leave the store. no long holdups at the checkout counter itself. europe equals WIN. read more
