conveniently stumbled upon this grocery store while looking for something to drink. now, you can go and pay 3 euros at a cafe for bottled water, soda, tea, whatnot.. OR you can go to a supermarket and get a liter-sized bottle for under a euro. yea, exactly.
bought myself the biggest bottle of non-sparkling water i could find and some fruit + yogurt + bread for breakfast and it only came out to about 2 euros. this is how i was able to travel to 8 cities in 2 weeks for under $2000USD, airfare included.
their fruit and produce section is rather small, but what they had looked fresh. there's rows and rows of packaged and boxed goods, a large bread and beverage section, and a smaller meat section.
checkout lines were long, but moved very fast. this is because europe is awesome. after you pay, you move to the end of the table where you can bag your items. after your items are bagged, you can move all your bags to a separate counter where you can then put away your wallet and organize your things before you leave the store. no long holdups at the checkout counter itself.
