Prior to this year (2016), I had never pheasant hunted before. Being that I live in southeast Texas, pheasant hunting is something that is not real easy to do. I had the pleasure of being invited to pheasant hunt with a group from Texas in Gregory, South Dakota, so of course, I couldn't pass it up.
Upon arrival to the Biggins Lodge, we were warmly greeted outside by Gregg Biggins, who is the owner, founder, father, grandfather, etc. of the of the Biggins Hunting operation. Words do not do justice to just how warm and welcoming the Biggins family is. When you hunt with these people, you are truly a member of the Biggins family. The entire family is involved in the operation and will ensure that your visit will be one to remember. There are two things that are sure to happen here. The first thing that will happen is that you will get a bird. South Dakota is loaded with pheasants and aside from the highly professional guides and their remarkable dogs; the Biggins family owns thousands of acres of land that are a heaven on earth for pheasants. The second thing that will happen is that you will eat and you will eat and then you will eat some more. The Biggins family kitchen, under the strict command of Be Biggins, will ensure that you are provided with unbelievable food necessary to fuel your body for a day's hunt. This experience was better than I had ever imagined it would be and it is something that I will never forget. read more
