Then when asked for my insurance information the lady didn't even care to help me move my stuff into an office! seeing me struggling and handing me papers! I told them I needed to be in a room and that it was unsanitary I sit in a lobby in those conditions. A nurse came out told me there was no rooms ripped my iv out while putting the bandage on tight telling me to has a safe trip back home!!!

Three separate nurses asked for my weight and height so they'd know how much anesthetic to give me. Clearly no one was making any note of my patient information. The anesthesiologist read some medications and asked if those were the medications I was on. When I told him I wasn't on any, he replied, "Oh, this is the wrong patient's file!" My husband was told I'd be returned to the third floor after my 15-minute procedure. I was not. A second anesthesiologist said she couldn't get the anesthesia machine to work and asked me, "Why are you here? Do you have a hole in your heart?" I guess in lieu of any patient information she was reduced to guessing why I was scheduled for a T.E.E. I was there to have an initial test to ultimately repair my mitral valve prolapse. We began late because no one could locate the attending nurse. After 50 minutes, my husband asked a nurse how I was doing. She told him there was no patient with my name in the computer. An elderly woman was getting the same stonewalling; no one could find her husband. My husband was more mobile than she was so he found me on the second floor. That poor woman is probably still there. I was understandably hesitant to have Boone Hospital do further procedures on me so I did some research. The best cardiologists in the state are at Washington University and they work through Barnes Jewish, so if you want excellent healthcare make the trip to Barnes. I was impressed with my care at Barnes Jewish (my current STL cardiologist is Dr. Thakker and my thoracic surgeon Dr. Melby; they did a great job and I'd recommend them).

I was treated very well. The nurses and doctor were very professional. I was the admitted to the hospital 3 surgery, room B314. The care team was great but there was one nurse that went above and beyond in my opinion. Her name was Danie and she was fantastic. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves, she definitely did an amazing job.

My father and I are both veterans and both have had sub par care the last few years. In 2022 I used private insurance to have my hip replaced, provider that HSTVA kept wanting to send me to PT and PT said they couldn't help. I went to Columbia Orthopedic and had it replaced, $7,000 out of pocket. My father in 2021 started getting pieces yo his foot/leg cut off: the podiatrist worked with vascular to come up with plan and plan was to amputate all toes. Apparently podiatrist had other things to do the seat of surgery and decided to take just a toe. 38 days later my father was back to have all toes amputated, month or so after that had below knee followed by above knee. Sure could have ended up above knee in the end but he'd of had one less surgery if the podiatrist had followed the plan from all the testing. Fast forward to 2024. May 2024 my father fell in drive way (had one leg) he was taken to MU where they did spine CT which found compression fracture that we were not told about. Found out in early October 2024 after got tired of screwing around with VA and used his private insurance. Did some investigating and when MU transferred him to HSTVA they had as part of the report that he had a fracture. Mid Oct 2024 had issue with his right foot (only foot left) end of Oct determined gangrene in toe. No rush VA was going to wait a month to do a CT to prep to amputate toe. After a complaint over more delayed care CT was moved up and received secure message "please feel free to use your private insurance if you have any." The lack of care/concern the last 3-4 years is astounding. I'm sure some who read this will say they've had great care and that's awesome we used to as well.
