It's not a road-trip through the mountains without getting a flat tire. It's like an unfortunate rite of passage in Colorado. On our way out of Montrose, we discovered a nail in my rear tire. Big O Tires was the closest to us and ultimately they were able to patch the tire. Definitely a boys club of mechanics inside, but they were able to get the job done bright and early. $25 and 30 minutes later, we were out the door. Thought I'd hop on here to give these guys a quick shout out. I hope you don't find yourselves in a similar position, but it's bound to happen from time to time. After an impromptu road trip to Colorado I noticed that my two front tires were actually down to the wear line. Before heading into the black canyon with hairpin curves on Highway 92 I figured it would be prudent to get those tires replaced! I showed up at big O at 8 o'clock to find a long line of people. Nonetheless the gentleman inside took names and moved everyone along to the point that my car was up on the rack within 45 minutes. I got two tires mounted balanced etc. and my brakes checked for 218. Not bad. There's a waiting room with the usual bad coffee & weak Wifi -but given Covid I'm standing around outside. I would've given him five stars but for the fact that their front door states they are open at 7 AM on Saturdays and they in fact are not open until eight. This meant an elderly gentleman who would not have checked that information on the Internet- where it is correct,came to get his front tire leak fixed had been here for an hour. sad face. He did get taken care of in about 15 minutes and I think that they fix a flat for 20 bucks so I hope the end of that story was happy. read more

We had bought some boat trailer tires here a few years ago. This year we had a slow leak in one of our SVU tires. This was our first stop. We had actually taken the tire off the SVU and brought it in. They said they could get to it today and we went and ran some errands as we live about a hour outside of town. Came back and it wasn't ready but waited for it. They got to it and gave it to us. Said, "Have a nice day." Hmmm shouldn't money be exchanging right now? "Nope, you had to wait too long for a simple plug and you have bought tires from us." WOW. Yes, it was a very simple fix and no I don't think we waited that long. Yes, we bought tires but like three years ago. This will always be our tire place in Montrose from now on. I had car trouble during a tightly-scheduled trip, and of course, every auto repair service in southwest Colorado is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Not to mention there is little-to-no cell coverage in the area outside of Telluride! In short, we did not have a very good Saturday. :( Lucky for us, Jesus and his team *were* working Saturday. Although very busy, they were able to squeeze us in and less than 30 minutes later get us back on the road. Came through last month with a new car, lights blinking, onboard computer telling me my tires were way over inflated and would blow up! Get Help Fast! Saw Big O on Hwy 50 and what a great experience. A really tall nice guy asked if we needed help, could see I was freaked out by the warnings.... 5 minutes later my tires are inflated properly and he has reset the computer in this electric car to accept the new inflation pressure.Thats my kind of mechanic! Taking away 2 stars because I see now that my lug nuts were waaaay over torqued. Spec is 83 lb-ft, which has always worked fine for me. I cant break loose 5/6 lug nuts on the wheel that big O torqued. I'm using 600 lb-ft impact wrench. Looks like I will lose the lug nuts and possibly the studs. :( I guess I was also surprised how much grease the tech got on the interior, particularly on the center console and door fabric. Usually these places are more careful or put down protective mats. read more

Went in to repair a slow leak from a nail a tire had picked up. Was informed that several of the posts on the wheel had been cross-threaded and sheared off. Seeing as Big O had just put new tires on, it was obvious that either a less than qualified technician had put the lug nuts on and caused the damage, or put the lug nuts on anyway (for whatever reason) without advising me of the issue. I then asked to have the remaining wheels checked, only to discover several several missing lug nuts. They in such a hurry that I was not given the opportunity to personally inspect, so I now have to worry each time I drive my car until I can take my car to a different shop for inspection. I certainly expected better from Big O and could not recommend them for any reason at this point. read more

We were in town for the weekend. We had a trailer tire with a nail in it. The trailer is kept in the building when not in use. The tires have lots of tread as we don't use it much. We stopped in to get the hole repaired as we buy all of our tires at big O at home. We have 5 vehicles with all new tires in the last 3 years. Not including the camper/boat/trailers. We were told they would not repair it as the tire was over 3 years old, but they will sell us a new tire. I'm sorry but a 4 yr old tire can be repaired. I was in the mountains 1.5 hours away and got a flat tire. I was able to put my spare tire on but was going to need to get my full sized tire repaired before I could drive back home, 6 hours away. I called Big O Tires in Montrose at 2pm and they were closing at 4pm and they promised me that if I drove an hour and a half they would fix it that day. I put my faith into that long drive and they were literally waiting for me to arrive and had my tire patched and back on my car within 20 minutes. What could have been a potential nightmare on my vacation in southwest Colorado left me wanting to spend more time in a town like Montrose that has these nice people. My wife and I were on a road trip through western Colorado, and spent a couple of days in Montrose. Our first morning in town, I noticed we had a flat tire, I had run over a screw and it developed a slow leak. I pumped it up with an electric pump and took it to Big O, which was nearby our hotel. In a long trip we found one of the tires had become hazardous to drive with beyond repair and nobody in town carried our light truck tire size in stock until we called Big O Tires. Our only choice would have been an unplanned overnight stay if they had not helped. This is the second time they got us out of a bind. Travelers to Telluride with Car Trouble- BEWARE. Big O Tires employees immediately set off my Scam Artist Radar. They took one look at me and must have thought, "She will ask no questions because she knows nothing about cars." I mean, I'm a 5'2", 25 year old woman in a Jetta. Fair enough. They took apart my wheel after it started making noise, and huffily announced that they would have to fix both the bearings and the spindle, a $700 project. I looked at the spindle and could see NOTHING wrong with it- and when I brought this to their attention they blew me off and warned me that it would just break the bearings again as soon as I put it on the road if it wasn't fixed. I called my favorite Minneapolis mechanic, Parent's Automotive. After a series of questions, they told me I probably didn't have to fix the spindle. I told Big O I was having none of it- fix the bearings and be done with it. Their faces fell. The same guy who claimed an hour earlier to just be "the pricing guy" started telling me that my car would probably not even make it back to Denver if I didn't get it fixed. The car not only made it back to Denver- after about a thousand miles it's still completely fine. Listen, I know a lot of you may consider going here because you don't know where else to go if you have car trouble outside of Telluride, but seriously- SKIP THIS PLACE. They're only out for a buck. read more

Never answers their phone - NEVER. Oil tech leaves in the middle of the afternoon. No way to tell if you'll wait for hours and hours or what. Use to be the best, now they're the worse. Tried for a full week to get my oil changed - never happened. So very sad. read more

This company has a great infrastructure set up to ensure your complaints are never heard! This helps them make money taking advantage of their customers. My wife dropped our Volvo S40 off at this Big-O Tires location in Montrose, Colorado because it was experiencing a consistent knocking noise coming from the front right wheel. My wife suggested it was the control arm, but the mechanic at this location told her it was the sway bar and would only cost a few hundred dollars to fix. We were about to scrap the car as it's only worth $1,500, but this convinced us to invest. We also purchased new breaks since we wanted this vehicle to last another couple years if we were to put any money into it. After driving it home across country (still knocking sound from the right front wheel), up and down mountain roads for a month, we took it back into a local/different Big-O Tires location. Their analysis was that the control arm needed replacing. Their quote for this was $1,567. They also said we should not even be driving this car unless it gets fixed. So, although we were going to scrap the car for $0, we paid $924.64 only to have this car now sit in our driveway. I called the Big-O Tires corporate office to file a complaint. That was nearly 2 months ago. Upon calling the corporate office to followup on the complaint 3 times, I kept getting the same response of "they will contact you within 3 business days". Another 2 weeks later and I am still waiting for their response. The last time I called asked the customer service rep if I could speak to a manager. They do not allow that as their managers are, apparently, not located in their office. I asked for another phone number to call to connect with someone else. They do not have another phone number, only this single phone number where you can call and file a complaint. My suggestion, do not do business with this company as they have established an infrastructure to make it impossible to fix any issues they cause. read more

Don't trust the Big O tire center in Montrose, CO. I stopped in for a tire pressure sensor replacement. I got in early and the job was done in 35 minutes. Problem... I marked the right front tire that needed to be serviced with a chalk mark . I was charged $102.55. As I left the pressure sensor light on the dash come on alerting me the right rear sensor was bad. When I arrived home I checked the chalk mark, sure enough the tire that needed the sensor was moved to the rear of the car. I went back the next day I spoke with the manager, He said he did the work himself and denied that he just moved the tire to the back and put air in it. I showed him the chalk mark, he still denied. I got no truth or compensation. I went to a competitor and got a quote for $66.00 installed. Just saying, Don't trust this Big O tire center in Montrose, Colorado. I'm out $102.00 and now have to pay the competitor $66.00 to do it again. Super Pissed OFF. read more

Several months ago I set an appointment on the Big O website. When I got there they had my tires and mounted no problem. They did it pretty quickly. However the service desk guy tells me I have 1mm left on my front brake pads and my rotor need turned because they are scarred. I told him no thanks and went home to replace the brakes myself. They were low on pad about 5mm and the rotors were fine. I had heard this happening to a lot of people especially those that don't look mechanically inclined. I must be getting old. I will not go back to that Big O again or probably any Big O. read more

Big o tire is ok last time I went there I bought two tires due to the fact that the tire I needed is a special order only it took them nearly an hour to just put two tires on the wheels. I got the road hazard warrenty just in case well I had a road hazard take out my sifdewall of my brand new tire took it back to them to have the tiire replaced and was promply informed that the sidewall is not covered under the warrenty I mean wth on another occation I brought my pick up in because the tire was low it was very obvious which tire was low plus when I walked in I told them which one well they pulled the wrong tire off to check the leak I mean hello mcfly. there is only one person there that can be trusted and he is now just part time that is gary sanders. I have used this tire shop for many years and it has always be a great place, friendly service, someone was always right at your car the moment you pulled up to help you out. Today I went in to have a flat fixed, I am 6 month pregnant- obviously showing- and have a 3 year old with me. It was 7:30am so not busy at all. I waited in the car for a few minutes and no one came out, I unloaded the tire and my 3 year old by myself and rolled it inside, no one came to help me. The store was DIRTY had not been swept in a very long time, the children's toys looked like the were found out by the dumpster, the chairs in the waiting room were dirty and really worn and old. It was awful. I watched an employee grab his coffee to carry around with him while he talked with customers, hugely unprofessional. I will not go here again. I hope my child doesn't get sick from the dirty conditions. read more

I did not even want to give one star!!! Do Not go there!!! I went for a simple oil change. the staff is so incompetent! first, they put the wrong oil in my car. when I asked about it, they told me it's " no big deal". I demanded they put the right oil n the car and they took it around back to let it sit, while I waited again. once they finally finished, for the second time, they put the wrong odometer reading and date on my due back sticker. this is the worst service I've ever had! If you want your car care done right, go somewhere else! read more

We were on our way to Lake Powell when we had a tire blowout on our boat trailer. I called Big O in Montrose and told them we were on our way and we were kind of in a hurry. They ordered our tires from a local distributor and had them there within 5 minutes of our arrival. We went to lunch and within an hour they called to say we were ready to get back on the road. We drove in at 4:30 on a Saturday with a nail in our tire. Everyone was friendly and they had us patched and double checked in 10 minutes. They have a big waiting area and it was less than $12, and they even put the tire back underneath the car(we had switched it with the spare tire).
