This evening my daughter and I were out and about and in looking for something to keep her interested and out of the house for a change, I figured why not go look around Kohl's?! It turned out to be a great place at 6:00 on a Wednesday evening to teach a toddler how to push a cart around the store! Their carts are different, low to the ground, and manageable for even a smaller toddler like our daughter. A few bumped shelves later, we made it around the entire store without a major incident! I never did find a pair of new dress shoes, but it wasn't even my concern at that point! "Daddy and me" day was another success and we even managed to snag a treat on the way home. Its still a great place to get clothing and shoes for the family and small item house decor- much like Kohl's. I noticed a few negative reviews regarding purchase for furniture from here. IDK what would possess someone to purchase full sized furniture from here- its not a furniture store and there are ample alternatives nearby for all economic ranges. Thats just laziness or stupidity. In the realm of clothing, you can get pretty much everything you need- even formal wear, baby clothes, undergarments and really nice shoes. Absolutely love Boscov's and wish we had one in the part of the country where I currently live. People should appreciate what they have. If they lost it, they'd realize what had. I remember when Vineland/Millville didn't have a Boscov's and we had to drive all the way to Depfort to shop. APPRECIATE what you have before you lose it. They have a good selection, nice sales and generally good service.

I remember eons ago when they wanted to build this store, all the political leaders said it would…read morebe a boon for the local economy. And many of us that supported the local mom and pops pleaded with them not to allow the building of this monstrosity, because we knew it would lead to the slow decline of all things good and local. Yes, initially it was a nice store, and yes it was convenient. But the short and long term impact it had on the local business were horrendous. All the great little shops on Main Street in Millville and Landis in Vineland that were starting to recover from the previous recession all closed up shop as they could not compete with the ultra low Walmart pricing. And now Walmart is run now, pays shitty wages, gives nothing back to the economy and has destroyed the local economy. And we certainly didnt need a 2nd mega store down the street putting pressure on our local ShopRites and Acme that pay decent wages. This Walmart doesn't even sell alot of the nice stuff they used to sell, since they market to the local economy. I was shocked to see how grisly their offerings were after not being there for a long time. If I could go back in time, I would have encouraged the local leaders to push harder and reject this disaster from ever being built.

The store is appropriately sized for the community it serves. Similar to my comments about Boscov's, I remember when Vineland/Millville was a ghost town of national chains and all we had was Bradlees and Dry Goods. Even though the place has become a bit more barren, especially with the removal of the kids' arcade games by the main entrance and the recent loss of the candy machines, I still think there's some good left in it. Take my current favorite spot, Raintree Shopping (RS), for example. While at first glance it might look like just another rip-off junk store, there are some amazing gems hidden inside. They sell a super intriguing mix of overstock and off-brand products, usually for dirt cheap. It's the kind of place where you either find really weird stuff, total junk, or absolute gold. Honestly, there's something for everybody in there: For kids: $3 backpack, lunchbox, and pencil case combos featuring popular characters. For tech enthusiasts: Unique charging docks for phones and gaming controllers for under $15. For literally anyone: A goldmine of overstock clothing. Case in point: I recently found brand-name Goodfellow & Co shirts for just 5 bucks, which is a third of what they cost at Target! Plus, their denim section has some surprising finds if you're looking for cheap streetwear basics. While the mall as a whole definitely isn't what it used to be, spots like RS keep it worth making the trip, not to mention that café near Boscov's, which is pretty solid. (that's a rhetorical question, in case it's not obvious. ) We get the ghetto, scaled down versions of EVERYTHING because Cumberland County is the economically depressed step-child of South Jersey. The stores we get are smaller, have less merchandise which is low end, and are generally poorly managed and staffed by people who just don't give a damn. Old Navy is no exception. I didn't realize just how crappy our ON was until I went to ON at the Cherry Hill Mall last week. It was like being blind and having sight restored.... So much merch! So many choices in every size! The Vineland store... not so much!!! The children's section at the Vineland ON is abymsmal. It used to be bigger and better stocked. I have no idea why they would trim down their selection to the bare bones department it is now. They have no maternity section and virtually NO plus sizes. Like, lets get real... how many size 2's do you really think live in a county where most people eat McDonald's for breakfast, lunch and dinner because it's all they can afford. Why don't managers of clothing stores trend sizes to see what they should order?!? Like 15 percent of Cumberland County are Mexican women of extremely short stature (seriously... 4'8" to 5'2".) So why aren't they stocking petite sizes? So if you're a size 4 or below and 6 feet tall, you can always come to the Vineland ON and find scads of your size on sale! But if your fat, short or fat AND short like me, fahggeddaboudit, there's nothing for you here.
