My car decided to lock itself while I stepped outside to shut my garage door. It was the typical Seattle "7am pouring down rain" day. That coupled with my insurance company "roadside assistance" keeping me on hold for 20 minutes left me feeling less than happy. I phoned four different towing companies and a several auto repair shops; everyone was either just waking up or unable to get to me in under an hour. Meanwhile, my car was running and I was late. I googled "best tow truck in Seattle" and up popped BIG D TOWING. My call was promptly answered and I was assured someone would be available. I called back 10 minutes later to find out BIG D's eta ... the dispatcher told me to "look out the window, he's working on your car now." It took less than 10 minutes to open my car. it was around 10:30pm on a Sunday night when my car's starter went out and died in the International District. Big D Towing picked up the phone when no one else did, and was super willing to come help me out. After about a 15 minute wait, they arrived, got my car to a shop, and went on their way. The prices they charged seemed super reasonable, especially after looking into the competition. Quality Operation. "Big D" bailed us out again! Our f-----ing Astro van just quit for no reason at all and left us stranded on a Sunday afternoon. Called "Big D" and Darin assured me that he would be over in a few minutes. He showed up 20 minutes later, loadded the van on his Roll-back truck and we were on our way to the repair shop in no time flat. It's almost superfluous to add yet another 5-star review to the Big D Yelp page, but here goes.... As with most emergencies, they tend to happen after 5pm on a Friday, when no one is available. Calling several tow companies, we heard more than once a recommendation for Big D--and it happened to be the nearest to the truck-with-boat-on-trailer-still-in-the-pullout-ramp-at-Shilshole...with the tide coming in! Clearly, time was of the essence! Fortunately a Good Sam helped get the truck/boat off the ramp to the street, and when Big D arrived, it was under 1/2 hour before both were secured & on their way home across town. I can't speak highly enough about my experience with Big D. They took the time to walk me through my options, arrived on time (they did tell me they would do their best to be early but set my expectations correctly and arrived at the time they said they would, which is fair they have a business to run) The Technician Tobi (and I call him a Technician because I feel he is, he moves quickly and naturally but the actual detail of getting everything just right is a real skill) was very focused on making sure my car was safe and secure and ready to roll. Tobi had the directions to my mechanic ready to go and made sure my car was placed in a parking bay ready to be worked on. Big D are great, they were communicative, direct and just all round professional. In my limit experience Towing can be a difficult gig, very often I am sure people aren't happy to see the tow truck hauling their car away so, it would be easy for Big D be cynical and have poor customer service, after all, they probably get abused all day, but they aren't cynical and negative, they are stand up guys who DO care about customers and it shows. I recommend them 100%, thanks guys. read more

These guys are great! The price was great to begin with and the driver was there within a few minutes of calling. It was time to retire my old Volvo, so when I told him I was planning on scraping it, he offered to pay for it and give the tow for free. I needed a jump last Saturday night in FREMONT and this guy charged me $65. I could have called a cab and gotten a jump for $10. The only reason I didn't is because he quoted me $5.00 on the phone. I thought that was low and that maybe he was being nice, or close by (their place is not far from where I was) and with the economy being what it is, he was being generous. Boy was I mistaken. I will never call them again or make this mistake again. I'm glad the city is finally reviewing how much tow trucks can charge! read more

My car broke down in the mercer tunnel getting onto I-5 south during rush hour. Robert showed up in his rig and took the time to ensure everything was in place and wasn't going to damage my vehicle. I asked him to take me to the nearest auto parts store and pulled into the oriellys near the yard. I didn't have any tools and only had a rough idea on what was wrong. Without hesitation he pulled out some tools and flashlights and started helping solve the problem. We isolated the ground and managed to get the car running. The service was the best I'd ever heard of. Very helpful and car savvy. If you're ever in a pinch make sure to call Big D towing first and they'll get you set up and pointed in the right direction. I was in a four or five vehicle accident on I5 north Seattle and Big D was first on the scene before a state trooper, the rain was pouring and I was able to sit in his tow vehicle, he loaded up my vehicle swiftly. Toby showed up to jump start my dead battery less than 20 minutes after I called. By the time I got from my apartment to the car he had the car wired up and it started immediately. He also pointed out a few things about my car and how to fix them and was very friendly and professional. T-boned a semi this morning and the first one on the scene was Darin from Big D's towing (two people called and told him about the accident so he could clear the road). We had to wait for the police for over an hour. Darin was so nice, kind, thoughtful and patient. I was at a loss of what to do next since my car was un-drivable and I haven't been in an accident for over 20yrs. Turns out I didn't have to do a thing. Darin told me he could take me either to the tow lot or the auto body shop and even called the rental car company and reserved a car to be delivered to that location. He also helped the truck driver with his vehicle in the rain while we waited for the police. Once we got the go ahead to clear the car from the road it took about one minute to pop my car on the flat bed. I realized I had used Big D's towing company once before because of the reviews they received on Yelp. I had called needing a tow to the mechanic and was running off to work in a borrowed car. They did everything on the phone and made it seem like it was no problem at all. I thought I would have to wait by my car to give them permission to take it away, sort out the payment, give signatures, etc.. Although my morning didn't go as planned, and I think I totaled my car, having Darin there made it effortless and even (dare I say) enjoyable. I live in Ballard, but work in Kent. When my car started having problems on the way to work, I called 4 mechanics and they all said NOT to drive it (blinking engine light). I called Big D around 2:00 and was told they would send someone out right away. With hesitation, I asked if I could go with the driver back to Ballard and was told yes. D showed up about and hour later and to my surprise, he was clean, presentable, nice, funny, and a big talker. I actually had a nice ride with D. I liked that it was a flat bed as well. The added bonus - he recommended Axis Automotive to me and he was spot on! Overall, the most positive experience I could imagine as far as towing goes. We were having a terrible day. Our truck broke down in the pouring down rain. We have Roadside coverage with State Farm and they hooked us up with a company that was supposed to tow us in an hour and a half. After three attempts and adjusted times of arrival, the supervisor from State Farm called us and contacted Big D. Richard showed up right on time, yes we'd been waiting four hours for the other towing company but he skillfully and quickly hooked us up and got us towed.
