Recently stayed at this hotel for a night only to find the room we were provided had MOLD in…read moremultiple spots in the room. There was mold on the ceiling in the shower and also in the main room. Along with that the main office area also smelt like it had mold issues. We did not notice the mold until the morning since we got in so late and basically went to sleep right away. I brought this issue up to the owner and he told me I should have checked the room first and tried to just give me some cash back to get me to leave. I was shocked at his reaction to the situation. We booked based off of the photos online which make it look very nice. Unfortunately those photos are most likely from a long time ago as the place is run down and needs major work to restore it. The resturant they had signs for wasn't open and the cabins looked like they were falling apart. Never experienced something like this in my life and I have stayed at hotels/motels all across Canada my entire life.

We drove from the US to go camping nearby, and this dinner alone was worth the trek. What's more, the prices are quite reasonable, and the setting--a view of the forest and river--majestic. Vegetarians, beware, however, that like much Canadian fare, things to get sprinkled with bacon, so inform of them of your non-hunting tendencies-- a rarity in these parts.

The beds were wonderfully comfortable and the rooms are decorated so nicely! The morning brought strong hot coffee and fresh baked cookies. Who does that these days?! Real glasses and coffee cups, appears to have been recently remodeled, and pictures provided online were accurate to our room. You're in or near Wawa Ontario and need a good night's sleep just off the Trans Canada so you can get up early and get some miles under your belt... The Beaver Motel is where you should be looking. Seriously this place was a gem of a find and luckily we got the last room available while we were driving. Seems there was some sort of flooding in the area not but a day or two ahead of us and it pretty much cleared out all the rooms in the surrounding area for all the people affected by the damage. This place is nothing fancy but man oh man is the bed comfy. All the rooms were recently renovated and look really nice inside. You're gonna get just the basics: Bed, bath, t.v and a fridge but those renovations they just did kicked everything up a notch. Everything looked real nice. Big Screen t.v. (though we didn't even turn it on). Nice big showers that didn't look like your big hotel chain (you know white everything). Glass doors and stone looking flooring made this one of the nicest bathrooms I saw all the way across Canada (and when you're driving for 10 days a nice hot shower is super important). There won't be much to do while you're in Wawa so get some sleep and head out in the morning...

The Lakeview is wonderfully quaint, with a throw back atmosphere of small town turn of the century hotel hospitality made complete with Woody's Pub where many locals meet and are happy to share local insights. This particular place is about 10min before the Wawa turn off & we initially drove right by it, as we thought it would be in Wawa proper. Watch for the flags on the left (before Wawa) coming from Sault Ste Maire or the right (after Wawa) coming from Thunder Bay. Check in was fast and easy (10pm arrival) & staff were accommodating/ friendly. The rooms were EXCEPTIONALLY clean, well-decorated & full of character + all the little details. If I'd had Canadian cash on me, I'd absolutely have tipped housekeeping. The rooms were both right at $100ea, 1Q (room 20) room & a 2Q (room 19), with a bistro table between. It is truly motel style, park at your door & uses real keys, not digital. There is an amazing area with a grill and chairs which just so happens to face the sunrise! All in all, we loved this stop & will absolutely stay again, on a not too hot date ; )

It's clean and has a kitchen, bathroom with tub, big flat screen TV, wireless internet and damn..it's clean too! There are some cute and nice outdoor areas also. It's close to Lake Superior Provencial Park which is huge and beautifully situated on Lake Superior. I highly recommend this place. They also take dogs. We have a black lab who is mighty comfy right now. The hostess, Anna, is great too. She is friendly and helpful, even gave us some tonic water so we wouldn't have to drive to some remote place. Yeah, we love it. (I'd better add that if you are looking for modern or luxury...well, it's not like the Ritz Carlton but it's very very cool and perfect for this area.)

A few motels adorn the strip where this motel is making it an attractive place for night stop if you are going east (us) or west. Reached there at around 7pm and was greeted by 10/12 year old boy who checked us in and showed us the way to the room. The hotel dated but fairly clean. The two queen bed room was a room with two sections with their respective beds and TVs. A bathroom in the middle which is from decades ago. But still fairly maintained. There is a microwave on each of the floor if you bring food with you. The beds are OK for one night sleep and we didn't care much as we were leaving quite early.
