Where do you even begin to review a national park as gorgeous as Acadia?…read more Sand Beach and Thunder Hole are a must see. Beautiful sights. Cadillac Mountain is worth it.

While searching for a last-minute 4-day weekend birthday trip - the timing seemed to work out to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia. I was here from 30 April - 03 May and loved it. Not everything was open, but enough was open that I was able to explore and see most of what I wanted in Acadia (Cadillac mountain opened ON 30 April so, we were able to drive to the top, park and walk around without a permit/pass before season starts in a few weeks. We hiked Beehive, Jordan Pond, Ocean Path, Homan's Trail and a few other short park and walk items. By far, my favorite was Beehive as it's just scary/steep enough to give you a thrill, gorgeous views. I also loved Homan's trail - easy and short, but beautiful rock work. The ranger also told me that one of the women who originally donated a ton of the land for Acadia and wanted to do so anonymously was last name Homan, so this is honor of her. And what a beautiful trail it is! The visitor's center is small but as always, friendly and helpful rangers who helped me prioritize my must-sees and map out the best use of time/driving to get to everything I wanted to do in two short days. Schooner Point lookout is also an easy/quick stop off before entering one of the park entrances - and a beautiful view of the ocean. Bar Harbor is charming and fun and welcoming and at that time in late April/early May - no waits for anything as season is just beginning. Can't wait to come back!

An amazing summer evening for a concert at the waterfront pavilion aka Maine Saving amphitheater…read more We were invited guest to the concert with glam rockers Vince Neil, lead singer of Ray, and the always amazing Brett Michaels. Parking was every where but our host is a season pass holder and drove to the VIP parking lot behind the venue. A short walk up a gentle incline and we were at the gates. The pavilion's web site gives clear instructions on what is and is not allowed. They checked my small bag and off we went. Tickets read the doors open at 6:30p but due to some heavy partying one band had not even done their sound check yet. They opens the gates 15 minutes later. We made our way to the way back of the theatre where the VIP section was. Showed our tickets got a bracelet and off to the VIP area where they have two full bars, 3 small fire pits with ample chairs and on the upper level couches and tables as well as bar stools to enjoy your beverage. We got our drinks and off we went to our seats. We were seated behind the orchestra section with the whole box to ourselves. We sat down for maybe 10 minutes and the show started. Ratt was OK but slow, they must have been the ones hung over, they sounds sluggish. Only knew one song they sang so glad they were not the head liner. A break for bathrooms and more beverages with some free popcorn. Then Vince Neil came on. He was good. Danced to a few of his songs from Motley Crew. The lighting and effects were great, really energized the crowd. Another intermission found it my turn for drinks. Two beers, a small box of wine, and a THC drink to the total of $58! WOW! $72 with tip ouch! The headliner was Brett Michaels. He was AMAZING! Energetic, talking to the crowd, and singing clear and strong bravo! Over all a great experience and will return when able

There are…read morecurrently 7 other locations of Pyro City in Maine (Skowhegan, Winslow, Farmington, Manchester, Windham, Ellsworth & Presque Isle), which we've not been to because we always make this Edgecomb shop part of our road trip when visiting Portland. They have an awesome array of fireworks at reasonable prices..to name a few, Extreme Chaos, Fright Night, Neon Demon, The Godfather, Kaboom...all a blast (haha..I'm punny)! The employees are friendly & great at recommending what's best for the occasion + they have a record of all the products you purchased & were happy with in the past. They will even show you videos of how fireworks will look like before you buy them. And they have every reason to be gung-ho about fireworks. Firework-lover & owner Steve Marson travels to China, where most of the fireworks are manufactured, a couple of times a year, sits on the product development board at Black Cat Fireworks (China) & has been working at his beloved "hobby" turned business for 46+ years! And even though it's a huge standalone building w/ it's own parking lot, this particular shop may be hard to spot. So if you're coming from Red's Eats, keep your eyes pealed for it on the right side of Rte 1 (across from Sheepscot River Pottery & Peapod Jewelry) right after you cross the Donald Davey Bridge. Did I also mention that it's a good restroom pit-stop..especially coming from Red's Eats? Thanks @PyroCityMaine for letting us use your restroom & setting my family up @ home w/ a #awesome Macy's-quality #4thofjuly #fireworks display at a fraction of the cost! See U guys soon! Xoxo's from @Zenfoodster :) Good to note... 2012 Maine law currently allows fireworks sales & use in Maine but certain towns have the ability to prohibit their sale & use within their town limits. So although it may be legal on the state level, it may not be on the local level. Just make sure you know the rules in your town before you drop a load on your fireworks display! ;)
