From the Business
Specialties
Though we're a bike shop that sells, builds and fixes bicycles, they're really just the means to an end; albeit a beautifully designed means to an idyllic end. Our job most importantly is to encourage as many people as we can to get out and ride for transport and enjoyment. We'd love to make riding a bike as commonplace as your morning cup of coffee, which by the way is our other obsession.
History
Established in 2012.
Bicycle Junction has its roots in the Wellington suburb of Newtown, where we opened our small shop in the spring of 2012. In August 2017 we moved into the heart of Wellington where we continue to be Wellingtons community bike shop and cafe.
Meet the Business Owner: Dan M.
Dan worked his way around the world as a bike-messenger and chef. His two passions of hospitality and bikes have come together to give Bicycle Junction its unique flavour. Dan completed his chef's apprenticeship in Copenhagen. His Danish heritage dictates that cycling runs through his veins and even as he completed his education he plied the streets of Copenhagen as a messenger and rickshaw rider. He believes strongly that cycling is for all, not just enthusiasts or sportspeople. You will find him riding either his Surly Steamroller fixed gear or riding with his three children in the Christiania Cargo Bike.
