Located conveniently on one of the main Santiago streets ( the Alameda), this is great spot to hit if you are visiting Santiago or if you want to find a quiet place to study.
The Biblioteca Nacional (translated National Library) is a beautiful building both inside and out. It is free to enter and sometimes has art exhibits. When I first visited there was an excellent photo display of old Santiago.
There is a little cafe located right inside the library on the first floor. Naturally you can't take your coffee with you through the stacks however the cafes are actually quite charming and you can take a break from studying and sip down a cup of joe.
I highly recommend this place for anyone who needs a calm silent place to organize their thoughts or get some work done. There is a computer lab as well which is also open to the public. read more
