The course was geared towards postpartum moms, however it shared the same thoughtful approach to classes that I had taken at Windy City prior to becoming pregnant. A new mom herself, Coach Esther did an amazing job leading us through a curated series of classes designed to teach us (or remind us) of the basics of strength training. As someone who was intimidated by gyms, especially anything involving weights, I would recommend Windy City to anyone. When they say "we meet you where you are," they really mean that! The environment is friendly, positive, and also motivating. Often times classes include a range of skill levels, which is inspiring, and the general vibe of every class is one of encouragement. I'm excited to get back into the swing of working out at Windy City!

In addition to the traditional style CrossFit classes and culture, the gym offers specialized classes in Olympic weightlifting, functional bodybuilding, CrossFit-style gymnastics, yoga, and endurance club. The partner-style workouts on Saturday morning and endurance club workouts on Sunday are great at building camaraderie and teamwork. I was already thinking about canceling my xsport membership before all the covid stuff happened. Now I can say that since I found and joined gym addict, I won't be returning to xsport. Gym addict is a smaller gym. It looks really small on the outside but I can assure you once you go inside you will be surprised how much space there is to move around and workout without being bunched together. They have several machines, free weights, squat racks and an open area for stretching or any other exercise you can think of doing. The one thing they also have that caught my attention was the two heavyweight bags they have set up near the back of the gym. I love boxing and since my boxing gym has yet to reopen, this really saved the day. The owners are very helpful. They are a husband and wife and I would much rather support a family owned establishment then to keep giving money to a corporation that only cares about your money. You can tell the owners take alot of pride in their gym. The gym is always clean, the equipment is well kept a and up to date, there are cleaning/sanitizing supplies all over the gym. The bathrooms are extremely clean and have everything you need for after a workout in case you forget anything at home. You can also receive personal training here if it suits you. Overall, I'm glad I stopped in and joined. If you are unhappy with your current health club or you're just looking for a closer/better option, I would highly suggest you give Gym Addict a try.

The staff is credentialed and knowledgeable, always providing modifications for chronic or short term injuries I have to deal with. They're also great at helping to correct my form and actually teach me how to better my strength training with each visit. The small class sizes guarantees attention from the instructors, so you won't ever feel left out or left behind. Finally, they're a great addition to the neighborhood. Not just by providing a business that we were lacking, but Orange Shoe is truly a great neighbor and gives back through various ways. The trainers "share" clients so if you usually see Rich on Mondays, but need to reschedule to Friday when he's not working? No hard feelings, they'll get you in to see somebody else. This client-centric approach is also a gamechanger.

Since joining, I have lost 20 pounds, have built strength and am seeing noticeable definition I did not have before. I am extremely pleased with the results I have achieved so far. All of the trainers are EXCELLENT. The environment is professional and non-threatening with varying degrees of fitness levels. The trainers work with you where you are at in your fitness journey. Everyone there, trainers and fellow clients alike, want you to succeed. It is a terrific environment. Scheduling sessions is easy on the app and I think the monthly cost is extremely low given the fact that you can participate in as many sessions, most 30 minutes, that you would like, each month.
