Our last event was at the Pickleball courts at the Bay Club and they put out a buffet. The food was so fresh and delicious and the cheesecake was so good I ate 2 pieces! 2022 Review for Beyond the Border food truck. This food truck takes a spin on fish tacos and carne asada fries. Took the order to go as this was a quick lunch break. Let's talk about the food. Pacific Rock Fish Tacos: This dish is served with three (3) tacos, each one has a 4" fillet of fried rock cod. Served on a bed of greens w/ corn. The tortilla is smaller than the fillet, and this dish is super filling. I enjoyed this as it comes with a side dish of your choice, i picked salad. They give you a side sauce for the salad and tacos. The sauce has a tang kick to it, not spicy, goes well with the rock cod. Carne Asada Fríes: This is probably one of the newer additions to their selection as it's not reviewed by other yelpers so here is the first of many. These fries have a special spice, i think it's Tajín sprinkled on the fries, giving it a kick like no other. Fries are served with any choice of meat, i chose carne asada, and it's topped with corn, avocado, tomatoes, cilantro, and some house sauce. Overall the dish is great, i wouldn't recommend this to anyone as the tang of the Tajín is another world. It's an acquired taste for those who love tajín. Try at your discretion. I love this truck and they served my food in ample time (10m, i ordered two dishes) I def would come back here for the rock cod and maybe i'll give the fries to my Tajín loving friends out there. I want to say this place goes by "HuevoRito" on doordash, it took a little bit of digging online to find that this is the restaurant as the address matches. I ordered the side of potatoes, side of "guacamole," and the SausaRito with added onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes for a total of roughly $22 (on Doordash with tax and tip). You may ask why I put guacamole in quotation marks, well that's because it wasn't guacamole. For 2 whole dollars you get the smallleeessst half of a baby avocado crammed into a plastic condiment container. The burrito itself was lacking in flavor, the bell peppers were pretty raw, and it was mostly a bunch of potatoes in the burrito. It's a decent breakfast burrito but wouldn't recommend really.
