Don't do it! Especially if it's for your teenager. A dire and dreadful place, where the staff are unfriendly, unhelpful and at times downright rude. The timetables are a joke, i.e. no lun hours, proper breaks for half the classes and where your teenager may have struggled with a certain subject such as english or maths, they are supposed to help them. Instead, what they do is look at what your child has acheived well in...and give them a 'key skills' course in that. This, despite the fact that they 'must' make provision in the area your teenager needs help with. The outcome is: Your tenn revisits all the stuff they have already excelled at, wasting one opr two years repeating everything, whilst they learn nothing in the subject the struggle in.
Therefore: either the staff at the college are incompetant, or (and let's be honest, this is more likely to me...as it's just too much of a coincidence) just not interested in your teenager having the provision they need, only in looking good in the tables and ofc..getting more funding or good results. After all, they check your teenagers gcse's before they agree to a place, so they'll know which course to put them on, won't they? Even if you argue, or if the student reps complain..you and they, will be fobbed off. Had I known any of this, i would have avoided this dreadful place like the plague for my teenager. read more
