So glad I found ATX Dryer Vent! We just purchased our home and the dryer was taking 3 cycles (2 too many) to dry so much as a pair of pants and a shirt. We had another service come out to clean the vents, but unfortunately they didn't have the right tools. Enter ATX Dryer! James was great, he called to ask about the problem we were having, what we had tried etc and ensured me he would take care of it. Fantastic company! When my dryer decided to stop drying I started researching dryer repair places. In the process, I read how you're supposed to clean out your dryer vent every year or two. I bought my house in 2008 and hadn't cleaned it out even once! It was a rental property for 25 years before that, so who knows how many lost socks were sucked up in that pipe. I called to make an appointment and was given what I consider to be a prime appt time: 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. on a Saturday! I didn't have to take time off from work or even set my alarm to get up early. Wonderful. David called about 20 minutes before he arrived. He got right to work, sucked out a blanket or two of lint, and tidied up the place before he left. Plus, he guessed correctly that the lint backed up in my roof vent had caused the heating element in my dryer to burn out. He was exactly right. My dryer is drying again, at a much faster rate, and all is right with the world. James originally came out during the spring and helped clear the dryer vent of a small family of birds. He has subsequently came out two more times to fix an issue that was not due to his workmanship, but more of an environmental issue. In mid-March I contracted with Better Dryer Vent Cleaning to remove lint from the exhaust vent. To my amazement, a lot of lint had accumulated in the dryer exhaust vent. Our dryer just recently started smelling like death warmed over, so I jumped on Yelp to research local vent cleaners and found the highly-rated ATX Dryer Vent Cleaning service. I emailed James on Monday and made an appointment for Tuesday. He arrived today, assessed the situation and went to work. Turns out we had an old bird's nest in our outer vent, plus two dead birds. Yuck. He cleaned out the vent, removed the nest and the cadavers, and vacuumed out about two gallons of nasty, old dryer lint. Adios, fire hazard! He did notice that our old hose from the dryer to the wall was partially crushed so he sold me on replacing it with a new rigid one. And just a couple hours later, our laundry room smells wayyyyyy better than it did a few days ago (just ignore the cat's litter box). He'll email me the info for the part that I need to get from Home Depot/Lowe's to cover the dryer vent on the outside of the house. Our home needs the larger 6" over-sized cover, or else James could have sold me and installed a standard 4" one. All in all, James is a pro at his job and well worth the cost. Saw the reviews on Yelp for these guys. Called on Monday and James came out today (Wednesday.) The vent on our roof was completely clogged because an exterminator put mesh around it (code violation) and 5 years later there was no air getting in or out. James cleaned it all out, then snaked the vent from the laundry room up to the roof, cleaned it all out, hooked up our dryer, and left the entire area cleaner than before he got there. I had to have a new dryer vent installed for my electric washer/dryer combo. It cost me $487-[!!], and they left an extra hole in the wall that I now have to patch. So, what, they screw up and now I have to pay someone to come out and patch the hole, which they covered up with duct tape? I would have been much happier if they knocked off $ to cover a drywall patchman to come out.The estimate I have on that is $125, which includes painting the patch after it is repaired. -update...they covered the repair on my drywall hole, and were prompt and courteous. read more

My dryer started making a clanking sound and had always taken a long time to dry a load. I figured that since the dryer was going to be pulled out for the appliance repair tech, I probably should consider cleaning vent (mine exits vertically through the roof). I'd been in my house 12 years without having it cleaned, and who knows what the previous owners did?!?! Turns out the exhaust pipe was almost entirely blocked! I sent an email to make an appointment on a Thursday evening and received a response quickly and set it up for Saturday. James called ahead to let me know he was about half an hour away and he arrived a few minutes early. He was very professional and set up to clean my dryer vent quickly and efficiently. Before James cleaned the duct, it would take over 3 hours for a load of laundry to dry... 3 HOURS! Now, our clothes dry in 45 minutes (1 cycle on our dryer). After being recommended by Patriot Appliance Repair (a great company), we scheduled a cleaning for our dryer vent. The communication (email) was spot on with confirming the appointment and getting receipts. James was right on time and didn't waste a minute from start to finish. Of course, like most/all of us, we really needed the vent to be cleaned out. It's a safety (fire hazard) issue after all. But after cleaning it out, James informed us that whomever built our house did a real number on the exhaust through the attic and roof -- several turns, long stretches of vent pipe, etc. It was never going to be good for the heat and lint ... behind the 8-ball from day one that the house was built 30 years ago. Upon his suggestion, we had him return a couple days later to re-route the vent tube and put in a new (proper) roof vent. It's nice knowing that our problem has been solved and that we simply need to clean out the lint accordingly. I had a different experience than the others who posted. Two men came to my door, no phone call ahead of time. They had no name tags and never told me their names. They did the work but I was quoted $99 on the phone and when they left the bill was $700!!!! I feel I got taken advantage of and the prices are insanely high. Ahead of the installation of my new dryer, I lucked out and found James and his company in a google search. I called and he came same day and did a great job on the cleaning, which had not been done in a couple of years. He installed a new dryer vent cover to replace the 22 year old cover that had a malfunctioning flap. He was efficient and intelligent and gave good advice. The next day Sears installed the dryer but failed to properly install the connector from vent hose to the dryer. I called James to ask his advice and told him (I thought something might be up with the new vent flap). I was wrong but after asking a few questions he diagnosed the problem over the phone and was correct. He literally came right over, pulled the dryer out, and fixed Sears' failed install.
