They will penny-pinch you, even if they should be giving you a break. Note to MediaMarkt manager: you obviously have never learned Lesson #1 of business and retail: the customer is ALWAYS right, especially if the shit you've sold him has broken 3 times. If you do not change your ways, word will get out (yes, sites like this are growing in popularity so you can't hide forever) and people will stop shopping at your outlet. While you may have saved yourself 20 euros in the short term, in the long term you have done irreparable harm to yourself and your firm (MediaMarkt) from a marketing perspective. I hope you go bankrupt. Here's the gist of the situation: we bought an Epson printer/scanner for around 70 euros. After a while, the printer started to malfunction, and we brought it to MediaMarkt to have them look at it (within the timeframe of the 1 year warranty). We got the item replaced, took it home, and again it was not working (issue with the printer cartridge or the software - uncertain). This process repeated itself 4 times. No joke. We took home a total of 4 printers, and all of them had the same malfunction. After trying out the last one, we had had enough, and only wanted our money back from Media Markt. When we got there, we made it clear that we did not want to talk about this again or have the item repaired (again), we just wanted our 70 euros back - finished. First, the guy behind the counter acknowledged the situation and went to the manager of the repair division (I believe that was his title). This guy did not listen to us, and told us there was no way he could give us money back bc the warranty had expired. Grrr. The warranty expired after the 2nd of 4 printers was given to us. So - while the item was still being 'repaired and tested' we crossed the 1 year line. We got into his face and demanded that he speak to the manager - we were told that he was 'busy and did not want to talk to us'. So we told him we were not leaving until he came out. He smirked and said that he will pass this info along to his 'busy' manager. After a few minutes, the manager did come out and presented himself as the second coming of Jesus Christ himself. In other words, he had the "I am doing you a tremendous honor by even talking to you worthless customers of my store" look on his face. He would give us back 50 euros and that was it. 50 euros? Why not all of it? We are the f'in customer here!!!! If he had refunded us all our money, we would've been happy and gone on our merry way, with a not too shabby picture of media markt in our head. But no, he insisted that we should be glad to get 50 euros back, and that this wasn't some type of 'flea market' where we could bargain for our money. Left without a choice and after screaming for a while, we took this and left. One of the worst customer service experiences I've encountered in a long time.
