I wish I could give Best Mark half a star! This company will use any excuse not to pay you. I went to one of their assignments to take an exercise class and do a survey. I spent an hour taking the class, gathering information and taking photos. When I got home and spent an hour filling out a massive 3 page survey. The following day, I received an email from a representative stating that she needed more information before she could submit my survey to the client. Most of the additional info she requested, I had already checked off and answered, in detail on the survey. I provided further detail by answering her additional questions. The next day, I received another email stating that that I am not being paid because she didn't have enough information to submit to their client. I am sure this is one of their ways of NOT having to pay the people who work for them. Beware of this company, even if they say they are legit. They are a SCAM. I am not the first to complain. I have been a mystery shopper on and off for the better part of 20 years. Since I previously owned a retail establishment I truly believe in superior customer service which has always made mystery shopping a rewarding experience for me. I started shopping for BestMark 5+ years ago. They always paid on time. Life got busy in 2019 so I stopped and went back just a few months ago when I saw online shops come up for company that provides fresh/frozen dog food. Since my pups love fresh dog food I was excited to do the shops. All went great on my end - got the orders in a timely manner and did my reports ASAP. They were accepted but then things went south. Let's just say, without going into much detail, they are TERRIBLE about paying now. I literally had to threaten to call the authorities to get my money! There were many emails and phone calls (on my end leaving messages as they never answer the phone) before I was paid. Just today I received an email, after I gave them a deadline before I turned them in, that a payment is coming. For me, that was for my final shop which I had done nearly two months ago. Sadly I've learned my lesson and will not be shopping for this company any more. It's very bittersweet. read more

I wish I had found these reviews before I did shops for two months. I have not been paid for anything-- the money I put out or the pay I was supposed to get for each shop. Your phone calls and emails go unanswered. Once you get smart to the fact that you are not paid, I guess they move onto the next unfortunate person who signs up. Avoid this company. I have only done 2 jobs so far. I had to send several requests for the 1st payment and they haven't paid me for the last job. Plus the mystery shops are laughable. I have shopped for BestMark for years and have had no issues with payments for completed shops, until earlier this year I completed some shops and took a month an half to be paid. Now, I did a shop in September and still not paid. Everytime I check the payment date keeps getting moved further and further out. Have tried emailing but get no responses. I completed my last shop in August. I submitted my forms and pictures in the timeframe allowed. My work was accepted. I paid $318 out of pocket and was only supposed to be reimbursed $300 which I did understand going into the shop. It is now 11/21/22 and I still haven't been paid. I have sent emails, which have gone unanswered and I called and left messages, no response. I can be patient if I'm waiting for money I have earned however, this is money out of my pocket and I need to be reimbursed. This isn't the first time they have been slow to pay. I work as a HSE consultant for an international company. My work schedule is 3 weeks on/off. On my days off I am a mystery shopper for Best Mark. I have done four jobs without any problems and all expenses were reimbursed. The key is to read the instructions and understand what the expectations are for the study. Altogether, the paperwork takes about 15-20 minutes to complete, depending on contract. I make it an enjoyable experience for myself during the survey process. I had a valet parking assignment and I turned the event into a lunch date with my wife. Though the lunch was not a reimbursable expense, the parking was free and I made a few bucks on the side, which provided us a nice bottle of wine. Making a living at this would be difficult for me since I make an excellent salary with my professional career. However, if you enjoy going out, like observing human behavior, and are good at record keeping, then it may be a good fit! read more

I gave one star because I can't given any lower stars than that but Bestmark doesn't deserve the one star. I began shopping with this company back in March 2022. Since then I have completed 26 jobs for them and have only been paid for 3 jobs. I suppose I should count my blessings for being paid for those three jobs, but I'm suppose to be reimbursed for some of the jobs (which means I tied up my own money for them!) I've tried to contact Bestmark several times, I even sent them 26 emails about late payments and not one of them was answered. I've called every number I can find associated with Bestmark and I only get answering machines. I'm seriously thinking about going to Minnetonka, Mn and try to speak to someone in person. I see they are still putting jobs in the system and people are taking them. All I can say is BEWARE.....THEY DO NOT PAY YOU!!!!!! It's funny that Bestmark has an article on their website about mystery shopping scams, yet they are the biggest scam out there right now! I completed 4 shops with them, because I think it is really important to have good feedback on customer service (and that is why I Yelp, which I do for no pay!). After you factor out gas (~$4) and the price of the item you have to purchase to prove with a receipt that you were there ($2), I estimated that I would make about $4/hour ($14 paid minus $6, divided by 2 hours spent at the shop then filling out the survey). I finally decided to terminate my relationship with them when my most recent restaurant review, which I spent $58 on (and would only be reimbursed $50), was rejected because I didn't finish eating before 8PM. So despite filling out the ridiculous long survey, uploading my receipt, now I am out $58 for a meal that I did not enjoy and would not have eaten. read more

The cashier at a shop I was assigned didn't give me the correct receipt - she gave something for a future shop (coupon). Unless the shop is done 100% as directions specify, you won't get paid, so be careful to follow the directions. read more

Yes very low pay and very few shops BUT you have option to choose to complete or not. My issue is with complete and total lack of respect and reasonable understanding. My guess is they use "automation" as an excuse. For example, "computer" cancelling shops after TONS of work and inconvenience if trying to submit within minutes of very short and unreasonable deadline due to tragic circumstances. I will never perform another shop for BestMark. Cory Walker sent me on a shop that was closed for the day. I had to contact several members of BestMark leadership team to get paid. I referred a friend. She performed 2 shops and still waiting to get paid. The leadership does not communicate with the independent contractors. Signed up with this company little over 2 months. I opted to be paid via direct deposit. The site says when I'm scheduled to be paid. I guess the transaction evaporated as I am yet to receive a penny. I guess I have to go report this on BBB. I have also called and emailed and no response. So I have no clue what is going on. This company treats its mystery shoppers horribly. Very low pay plus you have to pay money out of pocket for purchases ($15) and hope to get paid back. I traveled over 90 miles plus tolls because they needed shop done that day. Then I got an email from someone in the company, not the person who commissioned me ( Shannon) they were not going to pay me because they didn't like all of the pictures I took! I called Shannon to find out what was going on and she never bothered to call me back! They got the shop done, all the photos and research they needed then they stiffed me. BEWARE! read more

I do mystery shopping with several companies and this one is the worst. I am still waiting to get paid on shops that I completed back in March. They don't return calls or e-mails. I had this issue come up last year and they said they were implementing a new payroll system and had some delays. Since I eventually got paid, I kept shopping with them. This place is a scam, beware Shoppers! After you jump through all the hoops and hours reading and taking tests, then you finally get the ridiculously long survey form to complete. And if you go a minute after the set-you-up for failure deadline they cancel or deduct your pay for the shop. Too much of a hassle and demands for little pay. Many good reputable other mystery shopping companies out there who are not so cutthroat. Other reviewers I read are familiar with the cancelled shop ploy, they should be reported to the state labor board. These people are nuts! And they are LIARS! I've completed several secrets shops with BestMark. They have always paid me on time in full for the shops that I have completed. The secret shops I have performed were mostly for restaurants around the DFW area. It's very fun because you get to try out new places and basically get your meal paid for. read more

I've been doing shops for Bestmark for over 10 years. I don't know exactly what a "faded process and system" means, but having recently contracted with several other MS companies I can tell you that Bestmark's system is the most reliable and easiest to understand. I've never had a problem with the system or communicating with the staff. I'm always paid on time and never had a shop cancelled on me. They have also been very helpful when I've needed to reschedule. You won't be able to make a living off one MS company, but this particular company is one of the best in the business. read more

I've done several shops for BestMark, I try to do mostly restaurant shops as that's really the only reason I do them to get a free dinner out with my husband. It is a reputable service I would say it's hit or miss with the type of shops that they get. They have a ton of car lot shops so if your interested in that go wild. Also sometimes they can be very nit picky about your reviews to the point where you're not sure what they want. But for the most part if you want to do a little extra work it's worth it. read more

The review from Michelle is just non sense and all she is doing is whining. When you take a shop from Bestmark there is specific instructions and guidelines you have to follow. You agreed to submit the review by 10:00 AM not 10:02 AM. If you were late then that is your fault for not being responsible enough to submit your survey on time. Two minutes makes a huge difference and they have different guidelines and clients that need the survey asap. If you would have submitted your survey on time then you would have gotten paid. I have done hundreds of Bestmark shops and have never had an issue getting paid. It is all about responsibility and desire to do the work. My question is: Why did you have to wait until 10:02 AM to submit your survey when you had several hours to do it before that time? Your review is not helpful. Bestmark is a good company to work for and if you do the work then you will get paid. You cant be lazy and have to be able to follow instructions. No, i am not being paid by Bestmark for this review neither I am regular worker. I just do shops for extra income and have never had a problem submitting a shop on time. I have been Mystery Shopping for the last couple of years now and BestMark is definitely one of my favorite companies to shop for. Most of the other companies take at least 1 month to receive payment but BestMark pays every 2 weeks and sends a check right to my house. They also have some really great restaurant shops and even though it doesn't always cover the entire meal, who would turn down 95% of it being covered? I also love to have a hand in improving customer service and feel like my experiences can actually change something for the better! Just like the rest of you yelpers out there, I like to provide my feedback on everything! It's nice to be able to reward for good service as well. BestMark had a shop where they paid $5. However, they did not inform shoppers that their credit report would be pulled. Not many would do that shop had they known that it would result in a 2 year inquiry on their credit report. BestMark has never apologized or even acknowledged this. Additionally, BestMark failed to include the time parameters for a shop. I accepted the shop, but after getting the details about the shop realized I could not do it. Now they will not allow me to do that kind of shop. read more
