Not far from a 5 star... I have been at the restaurant many…read moretimes, and every time I had a culinary blast... Indeed the restaurant deserves a 5 star, all the way. I have stayed in the hotel once, and this is what makes me remove one star, however it is still a great place to stay at. The bathroom made me have second thoughts, but lets face it, I would go back over and over... Ideally go there with you're love one or to become, because the romanticism of the place will sweep you off your feet and imprint a romantic tattoo to your spirit... If you think all French people are rude, then do not go there because you will think you have left the country!!! The staff is exceptionally trained, kind and bends over many time to insure you have a flawless experience... I just wish we could put half stars, and even three quarters of one, that is how close they are from it...

It was an awful day in terms of the weather, cold and damp and we needed to reenergize. Several of us went in to get a snack and to use the loo. We were seated and given menus. Most of us got coffee and a sweet to eat. We were not going to be guests here and after our snack, we had to get going on the next leg of the tour. The cake, hot chocolate and coffee were good and gave us the much needed energy to continue on. It was a pleasant break, the waitress accommodating [despite the fact we did not speak French and she did not speak English] and I would encourage you to try it if you are in Honfleur.

I am not going to dwell on this any further, just be prepared and understand these constraints. This also needs to be clearly explained when travelling with very discerning children who are used to more modern amenities. Unfortunately, we didn't sample the evening food, but other residents we met were complimentary, with the caveat that the prices were top end. However, breakfast was varied. Cold meats, and as you would expect, very continental. Facility to cook your own boiled egg. A machine in the bar area to get freshly squeezed orange juice. I cannot remember the price for the breakfast as the booking was done by friends, I would guess in the region of 15 Euros. We enjoyed the use of secure parking, but away from the hotel. It did require two of us to put in the code whilst the other drove the car into the area before the gates closed. We had two cars in the party. The staff were extremely pleasant. The thing I encountered generally on my travels in Spanish and French hotels was getting the use of an iron and ironing board. I requested one here, and they had difficulty in providing one to our room, but they offered to iron the clothes. Which to my mind was even better, and at no extra cost. We would stay here again. It is set close to the town and harbour restaurants. Une machine dans la zone du bar pour obtenir jus d'orange frais. Je ne me souviens pas le prix pour le petit déjeuner que la réservation a été faite par des amis, je dirais dans la région de 15 Euros. Nous avons apprécié l'utilisation du parking sécurisé, mais loin de l'hôtel. Il a besoin de deux d'entre nous de mettre dans le code tandis que l'autre conduisait la voiture dans la zone devant les portes fermées. Nous avions deux voitures dans le parti. Le personnel était extrêmement agréable. La chose que je rencontrais généralement sur mes voyages dans des hôtels espagnols et français devenait l'utilisation d'un fer et une planche à repasser. Je demande un ici, et ils ont eu des difficultés à fournir un à notre chambre, mais ils nous ont proposé de repasser les vêtements. Qui à mon esprit était encore mieux, et sans frais supplémentaires. Nous reviendrions ici. Il est situé près de la ville et du port restaurants.

It is a converted old house that is impeccably kept. The place sits up above the city a bit so you have some interesting views of the old village. The breakfast that is made just for you in the morning is perfect to get your day started. You can decide between several rooms to sit, one with a fireplace if you choose. The woman that runs the place is super nice and accommodating. If you are only English speaking, no problem also. I highly recommend trying this place, you can use it as a launching place for your Normandy D-day beach tour trek.

The bathroom had stained glass. Breakfast isn't served until 8:30-how civilized. And Florence, who greeted me at 12:30 am, has a beautiful French-accented English. Service was very pleasant and very helpful, both with information and also with physically accompanying you to your room. Each room is a separate room in one of the buildings, of which there are many. The rooms are very comfortable, with modern air conditioning, espresso, and both large bedrooms and bathrooms. The only knock i would have, at least for our particular room, was how tiny the water closet was. The toilet was tucked away in its own room, which is great, but this particular room's toilet was basically crammed in there, to the point where there was literally no extra room between the toilet and the door. Very uncomfortable. But, that's only one of the rooms, and i assume they're not all like that. Our room was the common two-twins-pushed-together, which is common in Europe, but you wouldn't have known it by how comfortable the bed was. Didn't notice at all it was two beds. Very happy with the room. Dinner that night was at the hotel's restaurant, which was another fabulous meal. Lots of fantastic dishes, including a perfectly cooked steak. And, because our walk back to the room was so short, we decided to go for it with the alcohol, which was very good as well. Opted for the additional course of a poached egg, which was a common treat in France, having an egg course. Dinner also consisted of fish and beef, a cheese course, and a dessert course featuring a very unique layered dessert with ice cream. Everything was great! They do offer breakfast, though it's certainly not the cheapest, but it's a very good spread, with lots of fresh everything. But, we wanted to get an early start, so we decided to just pay and head out. Even though we didn't stay for breakfast, they let me pull a fresh espresso, which was very nice of them. Overall, this was a very comfortable hotel, just outside the very cute town of Honfleur. The food was good, as was the location. If you find yourself looking for a hotel in this part of France, give this place a look.

My 2 children and I shared a queen size bed and I would not recommend this but the hotel itself was beautiful and picturesque. I would have loved being here with my husband for a long weekend. Its absolutely charming and the staff is very friendly. Not many people in this region speak a lick of English or at least they didn't let on that they do:) We tried our best to speak a very little French and were able to get by. The restaurant is small and lovely with some tables sprinkled outside. There is a pond with a lovely waterfall. The room that we had was small for us but completely fine for a couple. There was no safe, pool or air conditioning but no need for them as well. It's located 15 minutes to Deauville and Treauville centers and beaches. 1.5 hours to Omaha beach and 1.25 hours to Giverny (Monet's house and gardens.) Its about 5 minutes to Hornfleur which is an absolutely charming town center with many restaurants to choose from--but skip the Hornfleur beach that looks at a massive power plant--the antithesis of charming.

A young man took over this establishment from his father and has the correct vision but it's going to take some time before it is realized. It needs better upkeep. Cobwebs in rooms and around balcony need to be dealt with. Some of the furniture needs to be replaced. Sometimes " old" is charming, and sometimes "old" is past its function and needs to be thrown away. Lots of construction on site. This needs to be disclosed. When part of the charm is the grounds themselves, it's not cool to be in a construction zone Pool is actually a large jacuzzi. I liked the jacuzzi but this place needs the pool it advertised. ( Only 10 people can fit in jacuzzi at a time and you have a one hour time limit What is that about? ). Rooms are spacious. Bathrooms decent. Deep, relaxing tubs. A few rooms with balcony available. Full bar area. Food is ok. Kind of a hit or miss. ( Dessert was the best part of my meal tonight. Grilled vegetables were delicious. Protein was overcooked and we were given a butter knife to cut the steak. Lol. They meant well. ). Spa area is sub par. Really shouldn't be called a spa at this point.
