This place and it's employees suck. I booked two nights here in October since the price seemed…read morenice! I was in my friends wedding and it was going to take me 9 hours to drive there from where I live. I called them and told them my situation, (that I would like to drive overnight so I wouldn't have to deal with traffic so I would need to be able to check in before the check in time at 2) and of course, the lady that answered was just filling in since the usual woman wasn't there. She seemed really nice and got everything situated for me. Or so I thought lol. Turns out, she changed my stay instead. She put that I was going to be there a day early. So that when I got to this hotel, they said I just didn't show so they got rid of my room. The "usual woman" rudely told me that they typically would charge me for not showing up. DESPITE explaining my situation. As you could imagine, I'm exhausted from the drive. I just wanted to lay down but now I'm dealing with this mess. So I just ask to get a new room. After fighting it can getting charged an additional $50 get get a new room this early, we got the nastiest room I've ever been in. I got itchy immediately after laying in the bed, the toilet was gross, the shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned in god knows how long, and to top it off, the door to leave the building by our room had a faulty lock. So every time my brother and I go out to get stuff from the car, we have to go all the way to the front and then to the back of the parking lot. (We got the furthest back room). This was my worst hotel experience yet. I'm a single mom and dad rolled into one. I can't afford much. But I wasn't going to miss my best friends wedding. So to get screwed over by getting rid of our room because we "didn't show up" when they couldn't even give us a courtesy call, charged an additional $50 for a nasty room, and downgraded a two bed to a one queen bed, really sucked. My brother decided that he hated seeing me cry about this so he booked us a room at holiday inn. In previous reviews I tried to be nice and as understanding as I could be, but someone at the hotel informed me that it was my fault that my booking got messed up! Love that!! They did this twice actually! I love that they decided to gaslight me instead of trying to fix this! Moral of the story is, don't settle for the hunk of garbage they call a hotel. Go right across the street to Holiday Inn! It's a little more pricey but my god it was so worth it!! You won't be itchy in that bed!

As soon as we pulled up to this hotel, my friends and I thought to ourselves: "We made a terrible…read moremistake!" With it's man-made waterways, on-site casino, and prime access to luxury shopping we were getting major Vegas vibes which is nice if you're in Vegas ...but not when you are planning an island getaway. Luckily, by the time we left we were all big fans of the hotel namely for it's easy access to their private island just a mere fifteen minutes away by boat. Once you arrive on the island you are greeted by dozens of bright pink flamingos, rainbow fish, and sunning iguanas without a care in the world. The island had everything you could ever need including lounge chairs, towels, floaties, snorkels, kayaks, and paddle boats. There was even a gift shop in case you needed to reup on sunscreen or a new bathing suit. If you're hungry there have a great little snack shack that offers everything from blended tropical drinks to grilled fish and sandwiches. I'm usually a little wary on the quality of hotel food but everything we ate was really delicious plus the service was amazing. There is one section of the island that is reserved for families that had tons of shade, sitting areas, and even a tiny playground. The other side was adults only and was equally as beautiful (although you had to walk across the island to access a bathroom). Our hotel rooms were fine, nothing luxurious but clean, well-stocked and comfortable. We were thankful that the airport is a short cab ride away and we were able to get a late checkout on our last day so we could enjoy the facilities at a leisurely pace. All-in-all I highly recommend and am already planning a trip back!

While I will say that the staff does try, they are friendly and helpful and so kind. Yeezy at the…read moretowel pool station was fun and entertaining. Juan at the customer experience desk on the first floor was great and looked out for our every need. Mayelin, Emmenual and Hector and the hostess at the outdoor deck by the beach were so amazing everyone should be given a raise including the guy in the grill. Claudia at the pool who took drink orders with a smile along with her colleague Claudia were fantastic, please make sure you upgrade them and do right by them. Everyone i mentioned deserve a raise. While the service was excellent, I was I'm extremely uncomfortable, underwhelmed and dissatisfied with my room stay. The WIFI sucks and AC and ventilation in every room and indoor restaurant is horrible and close to nonexistent. I was told you did a recent renovation in rooms but they need to gut it and start from scratch. You can tell they only slapped some paint on them a little grout or new fixures and missed the edges! The resort has no elevator and is 3 stories, depending on which resort you stay at you can visit other resorts. Regarding food at the speciality restaurants, food tends to come out cold if you aren't dining at a buffet. The theme restaurants are great and had an experience but again you need to ensure that all the details of the experience are explained correctly. Mongolian restaurant at Esmeralda resort was good. MEATS steakhouse at Ambar resort was excellent. Fish Market not so good. Nann was good if you are into Indian food. The pool needs to be checked regularly to ensure vents are clear and lotion, body oils, sunscreen don't gather so that it doesn't look dirty, if I ever decide to go back, I'd maybe think about staying at the adults only resort Ambar. If staying on the first floor you will deal with bugs and noise from the corridor and activities outside. The rooms only cool down a bit at night and when lights are off and with the fan on. Again, you can't enjoy the indoor restaurants because of it being so hot.,This could be due to the high humidity in DR, I'm not sure. Did I say the WiFi is horrible and you will need it to pull up reservations and looking up menus even do port of entry Registration when leaving you will be unable to do anything as the WIfi does not work. I could get one of the pigeons I saw to work faster. Check in needs to be more seamless and through. No packet or information was given at check in, telling you about the amenities. You kind of had to figure things out. Please note, I'm sure you are trying to save money but towels should be toss towels wherever they are old and are stained or spoiled. The experience should match the great customer service.

Special thx to Suheidy, an exceptional employee here. *** Great location but renovations are needed. ***
