Sit Up N Listen Dog Training - Mona Cosse

Sit Up N Listen Dog Training

Contacting SIT UP N LISTEN was the best decision I have ever made. My German Shepherd ,that was six…read moreyears old, gave my a lot of problems from being hyper, not sitting in the car, barking like crazy when someone came to visit, pulling on the leash, not coming when called and a few other things. It was exhausting for me at times. My husband thought it was too late to train an almost 7 year old dog but I thought contacting Mona and getting a free demo would not hurt. Boy,was I right! After the demo I knew what I had to do and signed up for dog training lessons. What a difference! Mona has so much knowledge about the dogs, their body language and how to correct the owner during the training process when needed, sending clear signals to the dog so it will not get confused in what is expected of it. This strengthens the bond of the owner with the dog and both are happy with each other. In my case it is really true "You can teach a dog new tricks and obedience. I am enjoying my life with my dog so much now and am looking forward to training my future dog. The owner and their four-legged companion both win with SIT UP N LISTEN!

I rescued a lovely 6 year old male Portuguese Water Dog who had somehow gotten away from his previous owners and was found wandering around the North Georgia Mountains. I was keen to make sure that the same thing didn't happen again since my new buddy clearly had strong instincts to chase things. He also had no idea that a human was on the other end of his leash and would drag me into his chase with the squirrels too. After just 2 weeks with Mona, my dog was happier, more confident, and wonderfully obedient. And I'm happier as a result too. I am no longer being pulled to and fro and he can walk by a squirrel without going completely nuts. The progress she made with him in such a short time was nothing short of miraculous! I am forever grateful to Mona for her patience, insight, skill, knowledge, kindness and most of all for the love she shared with my new best friend. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mona!

Because we are all looking for different things I'm simply sharing a pro's and cons list from our (my and Little Leo) perspective. Pros, for us - Super kind people! Just down right nice people! - Nurturing - We've known our trainers for a full year and we really feel like part of the family! They are truly the best! Cons, for us - Calendar - I didn't ask for a holiday calendar and was surprised to learn group was often cancelled for holidays that aren't observed federally, in schools, etc. For example Sunday, 10/28 was cancelled because Halloween was Tuesday, 10/31. - Timeliness - I learned an unwritten rule is to wait until all instructors are present and a majority of that class sign up. Most of the time this is 15 to 20 minutes past start time. As a result, you're either waiting up to 20 minutes or late if others are on time. - Weather - I didn't ask what the inclement weather policy is. I suggested having make up days or even an inclement weather plan like meeting in a mixed use facility or school which come at no cost. Too bad there is lots of rain in the summer months that cause cancellations. - Communication - We understand things happen. We just expect more direct, proactive communication. For example, if trainers are running late to group, a text to all sharing that would be most appreciated by many. My recommendation would be to ask the right questions, be really clear, and get things in writing. For example, the group would take trips to the airport and work with the airline to get our pups in training through security and to the gate. I later learned is not a service available since COVID. I really wise I'd have known that they were just sharing components of the program in 2019. For us, each of the cons, commensurate with the price, won't allow me to recommend for others and we won't use them again for obedience training or me next service animal. I am certain this style works for many, and I'm sure it would exceed the expectations of some. They really are a wonderful group of people! Thank you so much Natasha, Reina, & Sable! You'll forever be in our hearts! Can't wait to see you at group next Sunday!

We…read morefocus on positive reinforcement paired with a personalized, in-home approach. This will empower you as the owner to be an integral part of the process for sustained dog obedience training in Atlanta. Our approach is based on positive reinforcement. You may have heard it called "Classical Conditioning" or the "Pavlovian" model. Research has shown positive reinforcement to be more effective with longer lasting results than other training methods. We help you and your dog achieve sustained, deep-rooted obedience. We use positive dog training in Atlanta based on the classical conditioning theory, paired with an electronic collar-- this is not a shock collar. Unlike a shock collar, an electronic collar does not hurt or harm the dog and is used to obtain a dog's attention. We believe in using ongoing praise to encourage good behavior. The difference becomes clear when comparing a dog that is trained using treats to bribe vs a dog who truly desires to please from the inside out. Dog Training Elite is veteran owned and operated. We specialize in obedience, service, and therapy dog training. We are partnered with the Malinois Foundation that provides service dogs to veterans to aid with PTSD and other service needs.
