That being said, this school is exactly what we were hoping for with our youngest. It isn't snobby or snooty. Good, hard working, normal folks bring their kids here and it doesn't feel like a country club mom clique (IYKYK). The class sizes are very small. The teachers really know your kid and hold your kid accountable. We needed something in between homeschool and public school (we tried both), and this is it for us. I feel like everyone at this school loves her, but they also don't let her get away with any shenanigans either. It's stricter than public school and for that I am so grateful. I am able to be in as much contact as I want or need with the teachers and the administrators. They do fun things (they have a junior high dance, some sports like volleyball, basketball, football) and go to Hume Lake for example. They have chapel every Friday and parents are invited to come...it's lovely. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the teachers and the staff. On top of that I love that she studies the Bible and is growing spiritually here as well. I also was shocked at how reasonable the tuition is here compared to pretty much most of the other private schools in town. The academic level is pretty rigorous - definitely beyond private school level. But with smaller class sizes there is more attention given to each kid. It's small, cozy, welcoming and we are very happy with it.

It's a shame because she's essentially the face of the school but until she either fixes her attitude or they get someone with actual people skills in her place the image she gives the school won't be good. It also concerns me as a parent that if she talks like that to parents how does she treat or talk to the kids? Crazy that her attitude would be tolerated in an elementary setting.

School looks huge and very beautiful!…read moreMy 10 year old attends Old River Elementary, but through Panama Buena Vista, there were programs we were able to sign up for for free at a few different schools. My little girl chose culinary and gardening at Whitley Elementary. Yesterday was her first day, and there were staff at the front of the school with badges to assist kids and to answer parents' questions, which I appreciated. I am choosing to drop off my little girl every day, but they do have busses that will pick up the kids from their home school and take them to their designated schools, which again I appreciate. My little girl said her teachers were nice and the school served breakfast, lunch, and a snack. The summer camp program runs until July 26th, 8 am, till 5 pm, but kids are able to be picked up early, which I appreciate. I'm excited for her to have this experience, and I appreciate this school as all schools involved in these programs!

They bus kids in from all over the place for the Magnet, but the wait list is long, so sign up early (like seriously at birth) to ensure your kid a spot. My daughter did Transitional kinder here with Mrs. Furr, and this year tested at 2nd grade level in reading and 1st grade level in math. Last year I would pick her up from Magnet and she would teach me all about bats, snakes, the water cycle, insects, you name it. It was wonderful to pick her up everyday and see the happiness on her face. The teachers and staff really love the kids and care about their education and development. I can't say enough good things about the school. It is a wonderful and safe place to educate your child and I recommend it highly.

The experience with the assistant principal and office staff was extremely disappointing. I felt that communication was poor, my child went missing without their concern and the way my child's situation was handled was unacceptable. POC families, I strongly encourage you to ask questions and pay close attention to how concerns are handled before choosing this school. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this school to other families. Parents deserve to feel that their children are safe, respected, and properly supervised. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

Instead of my teacher , the behavioral coach, the vice principal, and principal considering there had to be a reason I was doing bad stuff , but no instead they punished me and lectured me. This only made it worser, everyday I would wish I didn't have to go to school because I knew my teacher hated me and would target me a lot . Also , the behavioral coach also notice when his "favorite students" would hang around bad influences he would tell the favorite student fake information that they were speaking bad about them. He shouldn't do that because he doesn't know if his "favorite student" was the actual bad influence. I hope he sees this and knows don't ever do that again because you made my year a lot worser. Everyone liked his " favorite student" so they left me out , stopped hanging out with me , talked bad about me and made my school year a living hell.
