I have been going here for years now, and the food was always good, especially the cheesesteaks and mozzarella sticks. My wife loves their sandwiches too. But lately the quality has been extremely subpar. I don't know if it's a new cook, or what's going on but the cheesesteaks especially have been pretty bad. Ordered 2 large plain pies and 24 wings for lunch pickup for a group of guys hungry after a long night of drinking. Average wait time (about 15 minutes), cost was about $42. After receiving the pizzas, we discovered that their 'large' is about the size of the medium Pizza Hut pies (definitely less than one foot radius). The cheese, the sauce, and the dough combined, made for definitely the worst pizza all of us have ever had. Ever. Ever. Ever. The cheese was bunched up and didn't fall apart at all (if you think this isn't important, try to take a slice without having the cheese fall off). The spread of the cheese and sauce was uneven, with some parts of the crust exposed for an inch (a regular crust amount), and some parts of the crust exposed for almost 4 inches. The taste of the cheese itself was synthetic and the taste of the tomato sauce was watery. The dough was made what seemed like the expired low-budget freezer dough in the worst supermarket ever. The lone bright spot- the crust was crunchy. The wings were actually delicious though. There were 8 wings in 3 large boxes (plenty of room for the copious amounts of buffalo and blue cheese sauce we received- awesome). The wing skin was crispy, and the meat was juicy... couldn't ask for anything more from a wing. Coming from the NY/NJ area, I couldn't believe that there were actually good reviews for the pizza in this place. I can't speak for hoagies/stromboli/cheesesteak (like the other reviewers) but the amount that we were mislead made me lose faith in humanity a little bit. TL;DR- pizza was the absolutely worst pizza I've ever had, and expensive for the size even if it was good. the wings were delicious, but not enough to salvage this review. read more

I have eaten here for years. I used to get this pizza as a kid and still eat it 20 years later. They aren't reinventing the pizza, and aren't a gourmet pizza shop. What they are is a dependable, quality, staple pizza place in the neighborhood. They are friendly, fair priced, and deliver quickly. The pizza is crispy but not to thin which is my favorite part of their pizza, the cheese is perfect, and the sauce is pretty standard pizza sauce. Berwyn pizza is another one of those places that I save as a treat to myself when I want to get away for lunch. They make the best hoagies in the area. Good, quality meats piled high with just the right amount of oil and lettuce on a big soft roll. The service is great and they recently remodeled which really looks nice. All in all if you're looking for a great sandwich for lunch stop on by. I've never had the pizza, but from the looks on other peoples faces when I'm there it seems like it's also pretty good. My boyfriend and I swear by berwyn pizza. he grew up in the area and introduced me to it a year ago...we drive 40 minutes to get this pizza and stromboli!!! Our "regular" order is the Italian stromboli and a large pie with broccoli, onion, and bacon. ALWAYS delicious and fairly priced (around $20). Hands down the best stromboli in the greater Phila. I have been a customer for more than 30 years. I believe that you cannot get a better cheesesteak anywhere. Specifically, I always order the Pizza Steak sandwich (more recently I get the Chicken Pizza Steak sandwich). Itcomes grinder style, which means the entire sandwich is baked in the oven with the cheese melting on top. I always ask for "hot and sweet peppers" on mine too by the way. The sandwich is always perfect and i always enjoy it. Usually when I am in the area I try to visit Berwyn Pizza at least once and treat myself to a delicious Chicken Pizza Steak with hot and sweet peppers!. read more

First place that I ever even heard of a stromboli while going to a school next door for rowdy kids named Devereux. The stromboli was amazing and every 5 or so years I go to King Of Prussia Mall and always stop in to Berwyn Pizza. The pizza is amazing to me. The crust is a medium thick and I normally prefer thin but this crust has a very unique texture as well as flavor which in todays pizza world seems to be an afterthought. The sauce is also very unique but even better is whatever cheese combination that they use. I really love plain ole cheese pizza so I can't speak for the toppings but I am sure they are of equal quality. The stromboli that I always get is the Berwyn Special which is off the charts! I am a creature of habit so I stick to what I have tried and loved. Last time I was there was in 2007 but I am told that those items that I just reviewed are still being made the same! read more

Great greek-style pizza that has been serving the area for years. Still family owned and they care about their quality. I grew up on greek style pizza and I need my fix from time to time. Not that it was particularly bad but since my wife said was picking a pie up for someone and me never having one of theirs I asked her to order a THIN crust pizza. Looking at their menu (now, after the fact) they don't seem to offer a thin crust but they never said anything to her when she ordered (I overheard), so what I got is a decent enough pizza with a VERY THINK crust, not happy at all with that at all. read more

We've sat in the dining area once or twice, but mostly get take-out. I am not a huge fan of their pizza, but the calzones are really good. Very rich and creamy. Last night I tried the Berwyn special calzone, which was chock-full of meat and had some peppers which gave it a great spicy taste. If you haven't tried their calzones, give them a try! read more

The pizza style is similar to Pizza Hut, which is not good pizza. Far too greasy. They use iceberg lettuce for their salads, a big bummer in my book. Not particularly family friendly. Clientele is generally seniors and the place echoes, so if your kids are loud you probably should take the food to go. The one employee was so unbelievably rude about it that the employee closing out my check didn't expect me to tip. I tipped 20% anyway because I was a server through college, so I would never dog people working for tips. My advice is to change the crust to a more traditional type of pizza and get romaine lettuce. Also start catering to a younger crowd because we're farther away from death than your regulars. read more

Moved from Chicago looking for a decent pizza. Love the pie here. Crust is perfect blend of dough, crispy on edges and not too thin. I was impressed with their specialty pizza and toppings. Love getting a pizza with real bacon on it. Had the gyro here which was just OK. It was prepackaged meat and not something that was carved off a spit. However, it was plenty large. This place is always busy and Verdun PD is always there so it must be good. Love the wings here as they are deep fried. read more

Amazing!! I called them 2 days ago and asked about having a party at the restaurant and they were so amenable!! We pre-ordered about 100 million pizzas for 30+ people they were ready right after we sat down and everybody had a super super time!!! Tried it once now, people are really friendly and the food was pretty good. I'll need a few more visits to put it at the top of my list over Concord on rte 202 and Enzo's but you can't go wrong here. Second visit and a Chicken Cheese steak hoagie and it is okay. The chicken is a little dry because the cheese is on the bottom of the roll, it should be cooked in or on top to help with the taste. Good size and I like how they cut it in a platter tray for take-out. I'd continue to go back and keep trying things. read more

I ordered a large pepperoni pizza recently. Total cost including delivery was $15. Unfortunately, it wasn't very large. The crust was too thick ("medium thick" according to the order-taker-- no thin-crust option), with a leather-like layer on the bottom and a soft doughy layer on top-- way too much dough. Other problems include insufficient sauce and bland, non-mozzarella cheese. Won't buy again. This seems to be the future of pizza-- phony sizes, cheaper ingredients, fewer toppings and more dough-- in an effort to keep costs down. Eventually people will turn their backs on it. Best pizza on the Main Line, hands-down! I typically order pizza and "Berwyn Fries" - so so good. The place is always clean too. I live in Radnor, which is outside of their delivery range, so I drive up to Berwyn any time I want pizza without hesitation. If you want thicker more robust pizza, this is the place to get it. Personally, I can't stand places that serve those paper-thin, flat-crust style pizzas - often having a crunchy slightly burnt taste to the dough. Yuk. Berwyn Pizza is, by far, the best on the Main Line...highly recommended. read more
