When most people think of pawn shops, they often think of skeezy, backwards places of business where they're liable to get ripped off or only find junk. Berry's seems to defy all of the stereotypes of pawn shops--it hardly even struck me as a pawn place at all. Berry's is a lot larger and more open than most pawn shops. Toward the back is a very large display case with a surprisingly large selection of cheap DVDs. They also carry dozens of rifles, shotguns and mounted deer heads. Several employees and a couple of security guys seem to be in there at all times, keeping riffraff at bay and and making sure everybody can find what they need. Berry's is especially known for its jewelry. At the front of the store, there are dozens of display cases with countless necklaces, bracelets, rings and watches of all shapes, sizes and prices. It's set up more like a Kay's or Jared than a pawn shop, and there's always an employee there to show you items. What I particularly liked about Berry's was their selection of musical instruments. Along an entire wall of the shop, there are dozens of guitars and basses (mostly brands like Ibenez, Alverez and Squire). They also carry a handful of percussion items, especially snare drums, and their selection of amps and cabinets is pretty varied. Berry's Jewelry and Pawn took excellent care of us. My husband and I purchased our wedding rings from them. They added emeralds onto an existing ring for me and sized my husband's ring down to fit his finger. About six weeks later, a week after we got married, the onyx in my husband's ring cracked on one of those horridly cold winter days. Berry's sent his ring out to be repaired in New York, having a stone custom cut to fit the ring. Unfortunately, two weeks after we got the ring back, it happened again. (Right before our honeymoon.) Berry's offered to provide a "loaner" ring while they did some custom work to prevent the break from happening again. Once again- they fixed the ring and made everything right, free of charge. We won't go anywhere else- they are wonderful! You cannot beat a business that stands by the products it sells. read more

Berry's bought my stolen jewelry from thieves who cleaned my home and they had the invoice with the guy's name on it on the day after he was in my house. The diamond was stripped from its setting so I was unable to prove it was mine, immediately, so they refused to return the very expensive heirloom. Instead, they tried to charge me 3.5x the amount they paid for it so I had no choice but to sue them. My awesome attorney won the lawsuit, I proved it was mine which was not easy with a loose diamond and I now have my property back. These people say they regularly buy loose diamonds from private parties without asking for proof that they own it. Warning: stay away unless you're trying to fence or buy stolen property. read more

Going into this place, I expected the worst. I had never been to a pawn shop and I had the image they were all sleezy cheaters. This place was great! The people working were friendly and helpful. I got rid of some of my old, unused fine jewelry (a couple diamond pendant necklaces and a CZ necklace) and they seemed knowlegable and fair. The guy who helped us was nice and even went up on the price when I negotiated with him! I really had expected them to offer me way less. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to sell some nice jewelry. They also have a great selection of guitars, guns, power tools, and DVD's. I bought a Taylor 710e guitar from them on Ebay. I felt I got the right price, and they shipped it very fast. When it arrived, through NO FAULT OF THEIRS, the electronics on the inside had fallen off from shipping (it was very well packed). I called Berry's to see if the shipping was insured, and they said it was to a certain amount, and if the fix costs more, they made a very agreeable offer for the difference. Turns out it just needed new velcro for the TrueSound electronics on the inside, so I just bought that for $4, but the point is their willingness to work with me was very appreciated, especially since the damage was not their fault! In the end, the guitar looks and sounds beautiful, the electronics are just fine, and the price and communication was outstanding.
