Rügen is a lovely "little" island in northern Germany with a population of 60.000 and roughly…read more2.500.000 tourists coming over every year. Located in the North-Eastern corner of the country, the easiest way across is by using the bridge in Stralsund, but you could also reach it per ferry.
People love this island, so obviously I was expecting quite a shockingly amazing experience when I came here (even though we went during the offseason). But to be honest, while the beaches are lovely and the countryside is vast and empty, the lack of any interesting restaurant or café really put me off. A lovely promenade sure is nice, but don't you want to sit in a great little café afterwards? I sure do.
I really thought about removing another star for the fact that it's laughably expensive, but we're talking about a tourist hotspot, so i'll let it slide.
If I do come again, i'll combine it with a short-trip (per ferry) to denmark & sweden and get my coffee there.
