They acted like it was no big deal for me to take time off of work and also acted like running out of my medication was an acceptable alternative to missing work. Terrible!

I showed up with a rash and they told me it was bedbugs. They gave me pesticide (poison) that is prescribed for lice or scabies to apply to my skin when it wasn't even the right diagnosis. That in turn gave me a worse skin reaction. They didn't ask enough questions to figure out that it was just stress hives that got infected. I had to rely on friends and family to provide the correct health advice. They really need to hire better providers that know what they are doing. I hope I never have to go back there for an emergency when I can't get in at the VA clinic.

The first time I called in because I had a cough deep in my lungs that I feared felt like pneumonia. I explained this to the nurse that answered the phone and I requested an appointment. She said she would have to pull my file and ask the doctor before getting me in. She said she would call me back shortly. I waited 3 hours for them to get back before I called to follow up. When I called back the nurse said it was too late in the day (it was 3:30 in the afternoon) and maybe I should try going to a walk-in clinic. First, I would prefer seeing my primary care physician because she has my history; and second, the co-pay for a walk-in clinic is almost twice what I pay to see my primary care physician! (the nurse knows that) I tried again, thinking the experience I had was a fluke. I followed the procedure this office sent me regarding scheduling my appointments on-line. I went to the website and selected the next available appointment time. When I arrived for my appointment the nurse snickered and said they would never have scheduled me for that time because it was too late in the day, so I obviously didn't have an appointment. The nurse was rude! I told her I wanted to wait and chat with Dr. Awantang to tell her about my experience. The nurse proceeded to 'block' for the doctor by running back to her and then coming back and saying she had just gone in with another patient and I would need to leave. I will NEVER go back there again. That nurse (receptionist) should be fired for the attitude she displays towards patients.

He is easy to talk to and has good advice without taking a jump to conclusions approach. I am not very fond of his office staff. They book physicals 3 months out, but when I mentioned this to Dr Mullis he seemed shock and said the wait isn't that long. Good luck trying to get anyone to answer the phone. Someone did return my call, but they called my cell phone back instead of my work phone # which I left for them twice. My last wait time was over an hour, although it was the day before the holiday and they worked me into the schedule (after cancelling my original appt that I had for months and then trying to re-schedule me 3 months later). However, once I got in the room, Dr Mullis apologized that my original appt was cancelled and about the wait that day. He seems very aware of what is going on, unlike many other doctors I have seen that seem oblivious that you are spending half of your day in their waiting room.
