The store opens early, closes late and everyone there is helpful and knowledgeable. And they often stock hard to find things, like Yellow 3M weatherstrip adhesive. Recently, I needed to buy some sand for my driveway. The clerk directed me to the different kinds they had and then they helped me load the bags into my car. i went to ace to get a copy of a key made for my truck. the lady that "helped me" was very rude…read more telling me that she didn't want to make me a key without a chip because if i used it in my ignition it would brick my truck. this is somthing that i already understood. i explained to her that i did not plan to use it in the ignition but rather the door, in case i lock my key inside. after a long explanation of why she didnt want to make me a key she called me a dumb entitled kid. i left without a new key. i think she was a manager. she was an old grumpy lady with glasses. based on other reviews i would assume her name is Christina.

It's not surprising that they don't have everything, given their small size, however. What I have noticed is that the prices for several of their products are quite a bit higher than what you'd find at a Meijer, Menards or Lowe's - not just more, but sometimes more than double. I will say that the service here tends to be helpful and friendly. If you need help, they will be happy to help and if you just want to look around, they don't bug you. If I'm shopping for an everyday hardware item, I will typically stop into Godwin's first, but I now check the going price for the item and if it's significantly more expensive here, I just go somewhere else. Otherwise, I do try to support local business and get the better service they provide.
