Bonus- there is a covered garage behind the hotel ($3, but worth it) so we didn't even have to clean the snow off the car the next morning. Other than it being a clean and warm stop for the night, it's pretty much a regular Hampton Inn...convenient, good breakfast (they also had seasonal pumpkin waffle batter for make-your-own waffles), and it was conveniently located a few minutes from I-89.

The stay: main area- Quaint, cozy, cabin-like feel with a rustic albeit decorative interior. Carve some time out in the evenings to hang in the common area by the warm fire and play some games they have available. It's large enough for multiple groups to be dispersed and play separately. Room- just enough space and awesome vibe. Shower was amazing with great pressure and perfect after a long day of skiing. Dog friendly: We brought our dog with us for the trip and were so pleased with how truly dog friendly the INN was towards her. Seeing as we couldn't take our dog on the mountain to ski, Kinga offered daily dog walks around the neighborhood for a more than reasonable fee. It was the perfect amenity to offer so we could enjoy our time skiing without having to rush back and take her out. She was sleepy everyday that we came back and got so many sniffs in! We loved hearing Kinga share with excitement details of their walk everday. They are all truly dog lovers, with Portland and Banana there as two lovely inn dogs (different but amazing personalities). We were also greeted with a dog bed and treat in the room upon arrival. The dog-friendly rooms are right next to the exterior door so it's super easy to take her out for walks. There is a river in the back of the INN, as well as a small through-road so easily accessible for long walks. The food: Don't skip breakfast- it's phenomenal! Had the avocado toast most days but tried everything on the menu - French toast is delicious as well. Definitely make dinner reservations for the INN at least one night. It was such a memorable experience. Huge compliments to Jason for cooking the ribeye and duck to perfection. Drinks- Holly is a rockstar of a bartender. I asked her to make me something "simple but effective" one night-- she recognized I had been ordering vodka based drinks that evening and made a delicious vodka gimlet. It was the perfect complement to sitting by the fire and playing chess together. Nick, Jason, Kinga, Holly, and the rest of the staff make an exceptional team and have something very special at The INN. We are so appreciative of the hospitality they showed towards our dog and us. Next time we head to Jay Peak, we already know where we will be staying. Thank you all!

Drinks: the hubs had a mule, which he said was absolutely fantastic while I had the martini special (basil pomegranate) that was so delicious that I even had two. I would rate both 5/5 Appetizers: we each had the French onion soup which was very flavorful though I wish it had more onions in the actual soup. We also ordered the appetizer special which was fried buffalo ravioli with a guyere dipping sauce. The ravioli was cooked to perfection but I wish the dipping sauce was a bit thicker. Overall the appetizers I would say were 4/5. Dinner: I ordered the blackened salmon with pesto spaghetti squash while the hubby ordered their famous rib eye with the veggie special of ginger green beans which were to die for. While the meals were flavorful I would rate them a 4/5 Dessert: 420 sundae - house made cookie dough ice cream with hot fudge and crushed pretzels with whip cream. 5/5!! Overall we were so pleased with our evening. It was a very cute place with great hospitality and delicious food. Would definitely go back!

The location was great, and the house itself is beautifully restored. The rooms are quite large and the beds are very comfy. The breakfasts were very good, as well as the dinners which we had arranged separately (not included by default but as the facility does large events, they can provide dinners if you plan in advance). The bedrooms do not all have bathrooms: depending on the room(s) booked, you may have a bathroom connecting to another bedroom, or accessed from a hallway; we were lucky enough to book the one room that had an en-suite bathroom all to itself. Since the rest of the group we were travelling with booked all the other rooms, the shared bathrooms were not an issue, though I could see not wanting to share a connected bath with strangers (I'd have less of a problem sharing the hallway bath). The location is just a couple of blocks from several restaurants and about a half mile from a grocery store. It's not too far from a number of local sights including a fantastic sculpture garden. It's a short drive from several border crossings if you plan to visit some of the southern Quebec towns. The living room / parlor / entryway and the covered front porch were nice places to hang out with our friends. We were allowed to have our own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages there (alcoholic drinks had to be purchased from the owner, due to licensing rules). The rooms do not have TVs or in-room phones - this being a B&B versus a chain hotel, I did not expect them to. The disadvantages, such as they are, are quite minor. The house fronts onto the town's Main Street, which gets a fair bit of traffic. This means that when relaxing on the porch, our conversation occasionally got drowned out. We could also hear the noise from our room, which overlooked the porch. It wasn't a problem at night - either the traffic died down, or the bed was too comfortable and we fell asleep too fast! If mobility is an issue: there are several steps to get up to the front door, and all the bedrooms are on the second floor; there is no wheelchair access to the second floor.

Our family had all the rooms booked in the house, we bought some bottles of wine and cheese and all hung out together in the living room. Apparently we were not supposed to do that. The owner was very rude. B&B always have a common room for socializing. We cleaned up after ourselves. We were not loud. Everyone was in bed by 11:30. It was ridiculous. The first time my step mom met the owner, she walked into the home around 8pm and the owner looked at her and said "who are you, this is my house?" My step mom, shaken... answered "I am a guest. I have been here since Friday" The owner said "Well, I realize that!" Just really rude. A few days before we arrived I called and spoke to the owner and asked if there was room for an air mattress on the floor in our room because our two teens were coming. She said that 2 of the rooms had room for an air mattress. The night before we left she charged me $75.00 a night for my son. He slept in the TV room. No bedroom, no bedding. I guess we shouldn't have let him sleep in there, but when we had the entire house booked with our family we figured it was ok. I gave him a blanket and pillow from our truck. Then after I found out that my Aunt had paid her $15.00 a night for a cot for one of my kids. We never used a cot. The owner told me that the room we booked was just for the two adults. I asked her about when I called a few days before arrival about my two teens, she didn't say anything. We spent $75.00 a night for our room. We had a bed, bath, bedding. To charge $75.00 a night for my kid is ridiculous! She also said we booked the rooms, not the house. We shouldn't be in the livingroom. So the final night 8 of us crowded into my cousins room and ate McDonalds and hung out together. Crazy. My cousin had called ahead to make sure the house had wifi and a tv available to watch the Jays games. The owner told him yes. One night we got home to the house just before the baseball game started and my dad walked into the TV room to put on the game. There was an elderly lady in there. the owner said "that's my Mom. When she is here that is her room." Then she should have more than one TV! The owner was just not nice. Not friendly. Rude and mean. You don't treat people like that. Not your guests! The first night we all LOVED the place. We were planning on booking the entire house again next year for our cousins wedding. But not now. We won't go back. It's too bad because the house was conveniently located. Clean and comfy. We won't be giving her anymore money.

Just fantastic! But…read morewhat a loose, relaxed operation this is. I arrived to discover that they don't really have an office. They have a semi enclosed desk next to the manager's apartment. I bang on the door a couple times and a woman who I called half an hour ago answered in her extra short, little robe. It's freezing outside so the only reasonable place where I can fill out paperwork is in her apartment, So she invites me in. At this point I was looking around for cameras because it was starting to feel like the beginning of an goofy 80's movie. Attractive women do NOT answer their doors in slinky robes and invite ME inside!! I told the gal how strange I thought this was but it seemed pretty normal here. I put a name, an address and a phone number on a piece of paper, she doesn't even bother to ask for my ID. I pay $50 cash and she hands me the key. She shows me to my room, shows me the basement and the sauna and wishes me a good night. Says I'm welcome to look around and explore. I'm traveling alone but she put me in a room that could easily hold 5. Half the rooms have open doors. I wander up to the second floor and see that most of the doors are open up there too. The front door isn't locked, I could have walked in, found a room I liked, locked the door and called it a night. She would never have known. I'm convinced that carfulls of penniless ski bums do that all the time. Arrive at 11:00 or midnight. Tiptoe up to the second floor and crash for the night. Take a shower and get up and out early and the only person that might ever realize it would be the housekeeper. Crazy. The restrooms and showers are dorm style, down the hall. I couldn't get any wifi and there was no info about wifi in the room. Maybe they don't have it. Strangely, there also weren't any heater controls in the room but it stayed comfortably warm anyhow. The sauna works great. Don't think they serve food anymore. It was a fun, odd, loosey goosey place to stay for a business traveler.

The place is beautiful, the photos do not do the rooms justice, and the breakfast is simply phenomenal. The hosts were really nice and stayed up to accommodate us driving in late. The rooms are well appointed, the bathrooms nice and clean. The grounds of the place is beautiful, lots of wildflowers, and next to a lake. Did I mention the three-course breakfast? Local jams with turkey pate, waffles with lots of wonderful fruits, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a crème brûlée grapefruit. I'm sad I didn't get to spend as much time here this time, but definitely planning to come back for a longer stay next time.

The location is ideal for Magog, you're right by the cute bridge by the cute park and beach and the awesome local brew pub is a few steps away and so is the Rue Principale, ie; main street, with other cute restaurants and shops. The bed was super comfortable, the sheets and pillows were so deeply cosy, the room had it's own clean, nice little bathroom. There is a fireplace downstairs in a common room that connects to a whole hallway of maps and guidebooks for the region. The dining room is full of light and set with lovely cutlery, white table cloths, lace curtains, so calm and sunny and lovely. The owner will serve you coffee and juice in a champagne glass and then a 4 course beautiful breakfast which by the way, she made. She's happy to tell you about the different jams and preserves, the local cheeses and meats she's using, etc. She's calm and sweet and generally makes you feel at home, without that awkwardness... Because let's be real, I'm not always a fan of the bed and breakfast, sometimes this can be weird with weird forced interactions with strangers and mediocre food made by non-food professionals. The Merry Manor is the opposite, it's the best, so friendly and intimate and awesome, and I'll be back for sure.

I only have one criticism. While the A/C was working, we had difficulty regulating it to feel comfortable. It was rather cold and clammy at night, but by morning, we felt fine. It wasn't so much the cold part that bothered me, but the clammy part was what got to me. Everyone kept saying how unseasonably hot and humid it was for Stowe, so who knows... maybe the A/C just had difficulty regulating itself... or we didn't know how to use it properly. It wasn't bad, per se, but it was a little uncomfortable some of the time. The room overall, though, was really great. Also, we loved that they had Netflix and Amazon Prime, so we could settle into the shows we were missing while traveling. That was a nice surprise ! Most hotels don't offer any of that. We had planned to dine out at one of the local restaurants, but we found out they were serving dinner at Grant's, the inn's restaurant. We were tired after traveling around all day, so we stayed at the inn and ate a great meal at Grant's. (See separate review for that.) Also, the common areas in the main building next to the restaurant are very tastefully appointed, spacious, with lots of games, books and sitting areas for people to utilize. We walked around them to see what there was but returned to our room to relax and watch some of our shows. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. One night in Stowe just isn't enough, especially at the Stowe Village Inn. Let's hope there will be a next time !

The price / night was reasonable, the breakfast included was very standard (coffee, tea, some breakfast pastries / bagels) but did its job to keep us energized for the days of exploring Stowe or hitting the slopes (!) The staff were nice, helpful and friendly. We look forward to coming back soon and staying when in Stowe.
