Im writing to the Attorney General about the unethical practice of law in our probate case. Not to mention the double and triple billing found on the very few statements Mr. Berk chose to send us. When I called him to ask Mr. Berk to send me the missing invoices, he said he would not send them to me and he said "besides that is all over and done with". If it were not for the fact that he was so angry that my sister would not succumb to his abusive behavior in order to get her to give up her position of Personal Representative to our oldest sister who was far from qualified. Thus due to his month long vacation he had planned for July and did not want to have to be responsible for representing his client while on vacation. Also, we ended up having to hire another law firm due to Berk Law Group was not capable of doing all the necessary work for our probate. Mr. Berk even threatened to sue my sister personally for invoices that he should have submitted to the Estate. If it were not for him threatening to sue her, which he included invoices for the accounts he was suing her for each month, I would have never found the double and triple billing. Kent Berk is a foolish man with absolutely no scruple's about selling his client out for his personal needs. When my sister hired him in March he never mentioned that he had a month long vacation planned for July of the same year, until 4 days before he was to leave. And the strangest thing was he wanted us to appoint our oldest sister who conned her lawyer into taking her case based on fabricated allegations, claiming once oldest sister was appointed that she could collect her retainer then. Well, she could not collect her retainer. Mr. Berk insisted we had no other choice than to appoint the sister who filed 3 bogus petitions full of fabricated allegations. As if we could not see right through that idea. If you need a law firm that can handle all aspects of your case, use Dyer Bergman & Ferris. Just so you will not end up paying 2 law firm fee's like we did. Mike Dyer is a good man and help us through an impossible situation we were left in by Mr. Berk. And if that was not enough, Mr. Berk resigned from our case and refused to return the retainer to my sister who was the PR. He eventually returned it but he was helping our oldest sisters attorney file a expedited petition to have a special administrator assigned instead of allowing PR to finish the probates. Without the retainer returned from Mr. Berk, his former client could not afford to hire an attorney to fight the petition. He is truly pathetic. Every bit of this is true. I would not risk the possibility of being sued by Mr. Berk for defamation of character. He could be a good lawyer if only his vacation does not come around the time you need him to represent you!! read more
