Filipino and German Cuisine [PAGUDPUD, ILOCOS NORTE Philippines] Who would've thought we'd find a restaurant on the northern shore of the main island of Luzon that specialized in Filipino and German food. Our driver brought us here to have our lunch. At the time only one party with a large group were the only diners but it got full shortly after that overflowed in the outdoor patio. We were lucky we got in when we did. Funny because my brother who was with us lives in Germany and he recognized the German dishes immediately... naturally, he craved for Filipino food and so we placed our orders for the following: Grilled Mahi-Mahi Garlic Shrimp Sinigang na Baboy (Pork Sinigang) Bagnet Pancit Bihon Calamansi Juice Coconut Shake The food was delicious and satisfying. The fish and the shrimps were consumed enjoyably, the sinigang is my comfort food, I've never had bagnet before but it is the same as lechon kawali (deep-fried pork belly) but the style of prep and cooking is different. I learned that it is actually a long process of boiling and deep frying until it is crispy. Anyway, it was so good. The beverages were refreshing. I had both Calamansi juice and the coconut shake. I don't even like coconut but the shake was yummy! Service was great! The owner, German decent, came out to ask us how everything was, chatted with us for a bit, and even took photos with us. We thanked him for the hospitality of his staff and the delicious food. The restaurant has a nice view of the mountain range. Highly unexpected for the area. The food aren't really a mix of Filipino and German cuisine but more of an option if you want one or the other. Quality wise it's say it's pretty good over all but that's just in comparison to what's around the area. read more

Not many restaurants show up on yelp but BergBlick did and I was curious to try German/Filipino food. Their food isn't German/Filipino but instead they have Filipino, German as well as some Italian dishes. We had various dishes and overall so would say everything was good. I'm not good at explaining the flavors, all I can say is everything tasted great. Expect to pay around 500 peso + per person for a meal/drink/desert which is average for USA but a little in the higher side for Philippines. I would try again in the future but wouldn't recommend to others if you're looking for more of a budget meal read more

Found this place while our group was desperately, hungrily looking for a decent resto in Pagudpud for our late lunch meal. And what a wonderful surprise it was! The place was nicely decorated and very clean. The view was relaxing, with the mountains and rice fields. The restrooms were immaculate too (wish all Philippine restaurants would be the same). We were warmly greeted by the Chef/owner - Detlev- who was really very accommodating and personable and a wonderful cook - the latter, as we would find out when our food came. The tinola had the perfect seasonings, the malunggay was freshly picked from their garden. Our lemonade mint drink was a great thirst quencher with lots of freshly picked mint leaves. The rest of the food we ordered were just as wonderfully prepared - pancit bihon, pinakbet, bagnet, fish platter and creme brulee. Would definitely come back if we are ever in the Pagudpud area!
