There were no English menus and the owner spoke very little English but he graciously helped us pick out some seafood for our meal. This was honestly some of the most delicious and fresh seafood I've ever eaten. My wife and I shared a large platter for only 14 Euros. So it's also a very good value. Situation on a little farm at the edge of the city, you would not expect to find some of the best food here, but that's exactly what you get here. The interior is very 'gezzellig', and it is a lot of fun to experience the food being cooked right in front of you. The menu isn't fixed, which means you are only served the freshest stuff possible. I really liked the 'service with a smile' attitude of the staff. Our meal consisted of fresh bread, delicious soup, and a very tasty pumpkin risotto, which was followed up by a really delicious dessert that I had no space left for. Tip: Call them up before hand to get the name of the tram stop right in front of the farm, as they have their own private entrance near it that doesn't show up on any maps service. This store has been around since 1908 and might just be the oldest shop we have featured. A family run business situated in the longest shopping street of the Netherlands provides a great selection of quality wines, meats, bread and other delicious foods. If you are looking for a nice lunch Vermeyden is also a good option with a nice terrace outside as well. They will be happy to serve you whether it is a take-a-way sandwich or a coffee. But if you are in the mood for something more extraordinary visit the cheese counter where they will also tempt your taste buds with nuts and other delicatessen. They also have the most amazing delicacies on offer; it's like a sweet shop for grown-ups!
